Did this roller coaster in any way inspire Boulder Dash? Both are out-and back roller coasters built on the sides of mountains, and both feature fan curve turnarounds.
I grew up in the valley and rode this coaster and the thunderbolt at riverside a ton of times... You did a great job with 8mm and posting... Brought back a lot of memories also rode the Whalom park Comet. This one was the best. When I'm up in Mass driving on I-91 I always look over expecting to see the legendary curve... thanks again
Thanks for posting this... The Flyer was my first real coaster. Our family visited the park nearly every summer during the Stanley Home Products annual picnic. Sadly I never got brave enough to ride it till my last trip to the park in the early 80's.
Thanks for this post. Rode that as a kid, sure miss Mt Park. Even had a dream about it the other night, sparked me to look the place up here on Youtube, Give anything to go back to that time!!! Do you have more of the park?
@mjm4222 they've actually turned mountain park into a concert amphitheater now, although its not the same as when it was an amusement park, they really should think about adding rides and stuff, it would be a great nostalgic idea that would bring people back in there again
@RetroGirl85 I agree. I even e-mailed the new owner, Eric, and asked if he had plans to add rides. He was quoted to saying he wanted to return the park to it's original days. I loved that place as a kid and a teen. Have not been there since the concerts started.
OH MY!!! The Mountain Flyer! I must have riden that coaster well over 100 times as a kid. The film here is great, but does not give a feel as to how fast the trains actually went. The ride was a BEAST in a fun little park. So sad Mountain Park closed....wish someone would build a copy os the "Flyer".

Never got to ride this one. Probably similar to Canobie Lake's "Yankee Cannonball"

I love the look of 8 mm film. It would be cool to shoot movies at modern amusement parks in this film.

8mm, done in 84, or 85 I think.

Nice job! Was this done on 16 or 8 mm? Do you remember the year? It looks like the 1980s.
