Sorry to be critical here, but the whole point of scientific knowledge is to propose theories after experimentation and then submit them for review, so:
1. You are substantially blocking the incoming rays of the sun by holding the leaf in front of your mirror.
2. Unless you are at or near the equator, you wouldn't want the tin to be on a horizontal surface. The tine should be facing the sun directly.
