@robrowald Me too. It was a cassette tape that I lost like 15 years ago and I've been pissed ever since. Not any more. The Fibonacci one is good too. I'm going to listen to all of them on here.
last month i swear i was contemplating the idea of nothing ever exsisting- beyond nothing though because it would have a polar opposit?? nothing ever happened or was manifest- no spirit, not god--- just nothing - not forever or eternity because that would indicate time-- i was overcome with such a sad-- immense feeling- yikes- and to hear doctor nordine express the idea so artfully-- YIKES!!
Ken, when I first heard you, I thought you were perhaps the most urbane cowboy in the world, because I was listening to the old 45 of "The Shifting, Whispering Sands".
I really like your work Mr. Nordine...Sweet...I've been performing poetry for about 9 months now, and have a band backing me up sometime, and I've also been making abstract films with poetry and wondering if I was all alone...and now I have discovered you and Word Jazz, Awesome !
Ken - are you able to get a hold of the Omni Audio Experience audio? I heard this when I was a kid on one of those tapes. They were brilliant... I loved and miss those tapes.
Ken, this is another fave besides your 'fly bug' piece for similar reasons, especially the point-counterpoint you do...The parrot chiming in that maniacal 'echo' is hilarious. A combination of thought~ provoking and hilarious. I appreciate your "thinker"!
Ken, the point-counterpoint that goes on in this piece is very _thought provoking_. Of course, one of my favorite aspects of your work is the thought provoking mesmerizing quality of it. Thank you so much for a lifetime of wonderful insights.
A brother of mine introduced me to the things you say, sometime after words were invented and immediately before you read this. 1975? Maybe.
I often paraphrase the line (about fireflies), "the leader is in MY yard", when irksome rhetorical questions come flying at me, as an effective defense. I do adjust the actual individual words to fit the situation. Mostly.
Thank you for exposing humor and brilliance in the process of thought; these linger for decades. Keep pointing.
a blur of years ago Joe Frank was in Washington, CD with NPR. He sent me a post card. Hearing his show back then I wrote to Joe and thanked him for doing what he does, thanked him also for the fact I wouldn't have to, he does his thing, I do mean. Thanks for the comment.
This kinda' reminds me of the scene in Young Guns where Keefer Sutherland is on peyote talking about how the girl he's in love with is his butterfly. . . But maybe I'm missing the point. . .

hello ken this is blake again the reason i am contacting you is to share with you a poem i wrote i call cocrete and steel but don't have room here to post but i would like your critical assessment of my poem would you be so kind?
I've never been to critic school. I sent a poem once to Poetry Magazine, they didn't accept it, it wasn't double spaced. Many laws are passed against the artist, most of them by the artist himself. As Pop Eye used to say "I am what I am and that's all I am."
I never went to critic school. I only criticize my stuff. I prefer not playing the critic of someone else's art...there are many laws passed against the artist, most of them by the artist himself.
I think you're the guy responsible for me buying all those Levis in the seventies!
In spite of that, tonight I came to Youtube just because I wanted your talent to accompany my chilly evening, San Franscican nights-feeling for which your voice is the soundtrack.
Ken, I remember "Word Jazz" that NPR ran years back. Pure magic! Timeless! Your voice, your meditations/poetry is just as awesome of an instrument as the music that you use! You are the verbal John Cage and Brian Eno! (I can't believe I'm writing to you!!) It's almost as if the physical plane is too crude to accommodate your astral-like art. A million thanks!!!
thanks for the kind words. Word Jazz is my sanity, keeps me off the street, except for an occasional visit to the imaginary hermits convention in Las Vegas.
This guy should be the voice of our current generation of Boomers, just like Rod Serling was the voice for the GI generation, (along with Vic Perrin and Mel Blanc).
Hey Ken, "I think is a thought I've often thunk!" I used to listen to Word Jazz on WBEZ in Chicago back in the 80's. Glad to know you're still around!

Glad you like it.
Fun and games are a slippery slide into the time sink.
Now playing with circa 200 to 300 AD and 'dythrambics'...
lovers of Bacchus and wine who were marginalized by
their behavior problem, having to do with group dancing.
