@OneCentKTM wow I think you might be confused... Stern drives are the same things as I/os and you just said you would never surf behind a stern drive but then you go on to say that I/os are the best choice for wakeboarding, skiing and surfing... Confused?
Just so everyone knows, the 2011 Malibu series (I dont know about the vRide series cuz it's the old wakesetter model) can be beached. Sure the Malibu is more expensive, and not everyone can afford it, but it is a kick ass boat, don't even den
There are a lot of advantages and disadvantages to both systems. They forgot to mention that stern drives make faster boats because they give you trim control.
Well, thats a commercial from Malibu... but anyways i would never ever wakesurf behind a stern drive. If your primary purpose is watersport like wakeboarding, Surfing, Skiing... then the i/o are the best choice.
That safety thing almost made me shoot milk out my nose! Any idiot who leaves the engine running when people are in the water around the boat, needs to worry about a prop regardless of its placement. If the motor is off, it's a non-issue. They're more expensive, have lower top end, less efficient, and you can't go in shallow water. Purpose-built competition boat? yes. Versatile family fun ship? NO!
Silly comparison. I had a Bayliner and now have a V drive. The little extra features are nice. Cruise control being one just cause anyone can drive without having to be "trained". But the Bayliner had great wake with fat sacs. Also we have some floating logs on the lakes and the outdrive kicking up was nice. You'll be doing damage with and inboard. Inboards are more of a hype if you ask me. If you got an I/O, enjoy it and be happy about all the money you saved!
Ok so there is an 80 thousand dollar malibu boat and and a 16 thousand dollar stern drive boat, they boath use the same amount of gas right... probably wrong, the inboard V drive has a much larger engine which in result will burn more fuel than the stern drive if they are doing the exact same thing. Now lets look at the Interior thing, the engines are in the same spot so this makes the equal amount of space in the interior, but it depends on hoe much you are willing to spend on vynl...
seats and the extra table, also the V drive will probably throw a little less wake than a stern drive and have a better whole shot and be quieter but the middle class man would kill for the stern drive. Also many companies make a stern drive wake/ ski boat so I don't get what is so good about the V drive. But the boat that looks more sharp on the water is the malibu because you pay for the paint. I love the malibu series but I gotta say...
the stern drive boat will pay for itself in 2 summers in fun but before you got your moneys worth out of the malibu you will need a new boat, I have a 1996 Bayliner 175 40th anniversary edition stern drive and it only uses 30 dollars of gas after 4 hours of slalom water skiing.

wow they make stern drives look so crapy i have i 1992 crownline and it handles better than a malibu and these idiots who made this video just dont know how to handle a boat so they go get a boat with training wheels. for instance, the malibu v ride
Ya it is dumb ass you dont even know how to wakeboard dick lick asshole muncher a ball less monkey could take your place in the world fuck head dont even reply to this awesome message
well im not going to go saying you cant wakeboard and calling you a bunch of useless names. but i will ask you, what professional wakeboard tournament is pulled by a crownline, or any stern drive for that matter?
haha dont get me wrong.. malibu is my favorite boat company and they make some of the best boats in the world but i am not the riches man alive to buy a 70 thousand dollar boat
really...that is a nice boat but stern drives really arent as bad as they make them out to be....those malibu boats are waaaaaay more expensive too. some of the stuff was staged too. like the bow rise thing, for the stern drive it was obvious they had it trimmed up a little so it would lift like that...one advantage of stern drive, you can raise out drive and beach them and not worry about the exposed shaft...they also dock better and handle better at slow speeds.
