  • And now back to the Junior Fire Rangers ;)

  • This is Canada.

  • for a-more complete story of the beaver, why not contact the Canadian Wildlife Service, in Ottawa.

    why not indeed?

  • Hello Ottawa? It's me. Yes,of course I'm calling about the beaver!

  • Ah the memories....hinterland commercials early in the morning in between my favorite cartoons while parked in front of the TV with a giant bowl of cereal

  • I love belaboring grizzly bears over the head with frozen beavers!Check out my new show on fox

  • Yup, I did. They sent me some pamphlets with information on the birds in which I had expressed interest

Now, if I could just find episodes of CUCUMBER and Jeremy on DVD...!

  • Did anyone actually contact the Wildlife Service in Ottawa?

  • the busy industrious beaver!

  • This takes me back

  • better back then... the new ones preach Global warming environmental crap

I want to know about the animal not your agenda

  • @CanadaguyRudey Yeah. No agenda.... All we were worried about then was reintroducing all the shit we had killed off........

  • @CanadaguyRudey there are new ones?

  • I adore these and miss them very much back when TV was worth watching.

  • I love a good beaver. ;)

These little vignettes were also parodied on SCTV when they had the CBC parody episode. John Candy did the narrations for those shorts.

  • Wow, blast from my childhood past. Is Mr. Dressup on next? :)

  • @shmoker2010 Aww!!! Mr. Dressup!! Love that guy.

  • Will all you religious nutjubs take your holy war someplace else? We're here to watch the beaver. And I'm talking to all members of the 3 Faiths.

  • Beavers rule!

  • How can such a nice little video provoke such malevolent commentary?

  • I though the hinterland thing was a joke...

  • I don't think I need to call Ottawa to learn more about the beaver, amirite?

  • @cpowers94 i think the number's probably been disconnected. this was 30 years ago!

  • hahahah! that was highly informative! its good to know canadian tax dollars are being spent on informing people about beaver dams and how kewl their teeth are!! lol

  • W000t! hahahhaha!

  • As Canadian as beavers and Anne Murray. WOOT!

  • As Canadian as Anne Murray's beaver.

  • .... Moslemssuck, I disagree on the latter half of your posting. It is saddening that you cannot be tolerant of a sixth of the world's population. It is saddening that you cannot appreciate the intrigues and uniqueness of Islam. Oh well.

  • Well, if you know what this '6th of the world's population' wants to do with the rest of us, you'd agree with me. So go blindly on your merry way until, when you wake up, it will be too late.

  • I have no idea what you're insinuating.

If you think they're a threat I'm rather worried about you, the people who share your beliefs, and what they might do to cause harm to innocents in addition to themselves. Hate is a cannon that fires at both the attacker and the victim at the same time.

  • @akropiss fuck you for your poisonous hate.

  • @UpstairsMaid Hate? why don't you sift through the comments lass, I was countering ignorant hate with facts. if you find facts hateful, sorry for your existence.

  • @akropiss your racist slurs on muslims and chinese areall the facts I need.

  • @UpstairsMaid I think you're saddly confused about context and the sarcastic irony forms.

  • well, (atheist here) i believe a lot of religion is taken out of context and bastardized, like, thou shalt not kill became a marching slogan during the crusades where the Catholics ate the dead arabs, and the muslims, who also beleived in the 10 commandments massacred shit, and blow themselves up, I mean, if people take a step back and lo.... wait, doesnt the talmud say jews are the supreme people and everyone else is less than human?

  • what the fuck!

  • What the eff?

Religious hatred in a comment on Hinterland Who's Who?!

Why did you think your spew was welcome here, of all places?

  • @dccarles Well said!!!

  • The beavers will fuck you, if you meet them. :-))

  • yeah well fuck u ya douche

  • I like these better then the modern ones.

They throw in enviroment global warming stuff which is a hoax with the new ones. Man is evil blah blah blah.

Also.. you could mail to Ottawa and get a booklet on each animal. Was great,

The new Hinterland sucks.. OLD ones rule.

  • ok i guess but...the narrator did not once mention how tasty they are or the fact that they can totally kick the crap out of a porcupine in a fight by using their tail and buck-teeth.

  • The memories listening to these, and watching it, are impossible to describe. I love it.

  • i feel EXACTLY the same way ... just a rush of warm memories of me as a kid watching these ... Canada has changed soooo much since these days --- sigh

  • The original Hinterland Who's Who music is called "Flute Poem" and was composed by John Cacavas.

  • Does anyone know who wrote the music?

  • Perfect. A lovely memory from the past...and gorgeous flute music, too.

  • I'm 38 born in Ottawa and only now do i realize how much these ads helped shape my view of Canada's wildlife. I always liked them and now that i live in the states i see what they were supposed to do...i have a lot of appreciation for these little things that made us love our nature.

  • who doesn't love these?

  • And who doesn't love beaver, eh? coo-roo-coo-coo-coo-coo-coo...

  • WOW! That music at the beginning brings back soooooo many fond memories TOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! YES and since my name is AMIK it means BEAVER in native cree!

  • WOW! That music at the beginning brings back soooooo many fond memories of when I was little in pajamas in front of the TV.

Thanks for posting this! It's so the way Canada used to be. I love it.
