Thank you for being brave enough to post this video. If you inspire just one parent to go out and do the same with their child then I think that all the negative comments are worth it. This will save children's lives. Thanks again.
Today is my first day hearing of ISR. At first it would seem cruel if we hadnt known that he had these lessons. I think that every child should learn baby sign, and as of today I also think that everychild should learn how to survive in the water. I am going to do more research to understand more on ISR.
Hi there. I taught and am still teaching my son baby sign .. hes 16 months. It just amazes me more and more each day what babies are capable of!! We as parents need to teach our children life skills and I think that these lessons are awesome.
okay, i do understan that there trying to help kills float when there drowning, but why all the flipping? like a kids going to fall into a puul oing a flip! thats ABUSE!
@animagus91 okay, but still, the child is floating on his back trying to breath while water is getting rushed into his mouth and the person doesnt even pick him up to let him breath before she turns him upside down, water goes into there nose is abuse!
@emilysclaycharms This is one of the only videos I've noticed them doing that in and I do not understand why she does it. I'm sure she has a reason but maybe not same as with everything else you have teachers who are good and teachers who aren't.
ISR teaches them confidence in the water as well as awareness and If you watch my other video have posted of him swimming at 2 he obviously is not traumatized. But whats more important to me and my family is today he's 3!
lakes, we could not live with our selves if an accident were to occur. We actually have a permanent wrought iron fence around our pool, alarms on all means of entry as well as a pool alarm and yearly ISR training. For those of you who post mean comments: at the end of the day it's my baby and we are keeping him safe, you have no idea the reasons why we have gone to such lengths to make sure of this..... There are no second chances. My son looooves the water, he is a little fish. ISR teach
lessons. I can assure you he was not just "thrown in the water" he attended slow paced classes every day for 6 weeks and this is video of his "test out". The instructor (in the pool with him) is testing his ability to reach and maintain a back float if he was to fall in under any circumstance even being disoriented. He is not crying, he is hollering - as we would hope he would do if he fell in. My son is never outside without us however we do hire babysitters on occasion and frequent the l
Thank you to those who understand what this is about & left positive comments. It's sad that people could be so disrespectful & can say such mean things on a topic of which they obviously know nothing about. I am the mommy of Ashton, the little man in the video. My son started ISR training when he was 10 months old, lessons conducted by a PROFESSIONAL ISR Instructor. ISR is a national organization that teaches children ages 6 months to 6 years water survival skills..... not swimming lesso
It isn't a bad thing that she decided to teach her son how to swim ?
I would too ! Would you rather see a baby fall in water , panic and drowned ? No ! This is swimming lessons she is being careful and it's not like she is just gonna leave her baby in the pool alone ! Or let the baby drowned. She is his mom your not she makes the choices you don't and she is doing good for the baby not harm. It's helping the baby to learn how to swim .. And that if he goes in water he is to lay on his back !
what the heck is wrong with you people! he is ELEVEN MONTHS OLD. teach them to swim dont just toss them in and flip them the poor kid is crying his eyes out. this made me not want to swim ever again as a kid. why dont we find out your phobia and just toss you into you and see how you like it maybe you'll LEARN SOMETHING.
@jacqhill id rather see parents pay attention and put fencing around their pools! there are better ways to teach such a teeny baby!! and even if they are in a public pool, if tose parents let suc a small baby wander away from them ten someting is wrong with them!
@sgoodliffe just put up a fence, watch your child....typical non parent comment. (Im assuming you dont have children) NEXT-put them in a bubble and dont take them out of the house?. What they are perfecting here is a natural instict of the infant. You wait to long and that instict goes away and fear is then instilled in us of the water. I feel it just builds confidence in the child and helps the child with understanding there own body and movement and, of course, child safety.
@jacqhill i AM a mom, I HAVE a pool, I am safe and observant, and there is noting wrong with putting a fence around your pool unless your too concerned about the "look" THERE ARE BETTER WAYS TO TEACH!! you dont take someone up in a plane, give them a parachute and shove them out saying "trust your instincts see you on the ground" you teach them when they have a choice! this baby doesnt have a choice. and your method doesnt work. im proof.
@sgoodliffe you keep refering to "your" pool, like the only water a child is ever going to see is there own back yard. I assume that your amazing parenting skills are taught to everyone who'd be with your child...grandparent, daycare, babysitter, husband??? and no, nothing wrong with fence but as they say, curiosity killed the cat. sheltering your child from possible dangers wont save them. as for a parachute, dont think i will ever be in a situation where i will need that skill.
@jacqhill just because there is a fence doesn't mean im not with them and paying attention! i have canals, streams, rivers, etc around my house, my kids are not in a bubble! and yes i do beleive my parenting skills are with extended family because THEY taught me.
@sgoodliffe was it not "your family" who tormented you with this horrible experience when you were a child in the first place? I'm done, this is going nowhere.
@sgoodliffe sorry you had such a bad experience. could you give the name of the professional who taught your ISR course.... that is horrible you were left with such a bad experience. there techniques obviosly are not up to speed and they should not be teaching that course if thats the case. (of course that would have been 25+) but that organization has to be contacted.
@Shellyfuikenhot Babies can drown anywhere. Even in an inch of water in the tub. Parents can't be around there children 24.7.. There will be times when the parents are away or the baby is at a Aunt or Grandparents house etc. Better be smart and safe then arrogant and sorry.
That baby boy is thinking dammit mom i told you put me in my bad outfit not my good ones now my good outfit and good shoes are messed up and damn my best hoodie too any ways I wish I had this for my kids
i understand the reason behind this, because if you weren't WATCHING your child and they fell in a pool they would float till you rescue them, but don't you think you need to show them some kind of affection after do its more rewarding and not so scary. i think mom or dad should be in the water with the child and as the trainer does the flips the parent should always be there to show comfort and let the child know who will always save them.
@twins2588 It's not about lack of watching the kid. Kids drown while parents are out supervising kids at water play. It only takes a moment. These skills that they are learning now will help them their whole life. Much like how sign language helps with communication. Adults only shun this or look at it in a less than positive aspect because they are conditioned to fear. Babies don't know what it is like to fear the water. This is natural to them so the sooner the better!
that is Horrible For A baby i was traumatized this way as a baby it makes them feel insucure and not supported by the very people who our meant to protect Them ur baby is stressed ur not hearing ur babies stress call. Your pushing ur wans off on a baby As a Mom my natural sense i feel this is insensitive and emotionally traumatize's our children they look to us to feel safe. it feels wrong im a mother and a grandma i taught my daughter to swim age 4 she learn with compassion so she felt safe.
The calmness ISR teaches to these kids, to trust their back and rely that the air will come, is amazing. They become fish <3 No fear at all of the water. beautiful

this was amazing, and I have to say we've taught our kids 6 & 3 to be good swimmers, however didn't think to get them to learn how to 'float' for a long period, with cottage season approaching, next time they are in the pool - they will have to float on their backs every time they get in & build the floating stamina. thanks for posting this remarkable video & it really got me thinking about better water safety.
This is amazing!

Remember, Jesus WALKED on water.
How was THAT possible?
Because the Lord Yeshua Jesus Christ is the Lord God Almighty Jehovah Yahweh!
Because Jesus does NOT fear anyone or anything!
