  • hi i would really appreciate if you had any of your music in midi, spectacular piano playing!

  • @KonstantinosMin Thanks it's much appreciated.

For a midifile, just have a look to my last video upload "the show is over"please. Thanks again

  • Muy elgante!

  • MAGNIIIFIIIQUEEE!!!

  • I like Jazz. I play piano and bass!!!! I LIKE THIS.

  • oooooooooooooooooh i love it

  • Unbeliveable... I'm brazilian and I am impressioned about it!!! omg is this really ab improvisation? I can't believe... I studied classical piano and I think this is absolutely amazing!!! jazz pianists need to study a lot to play it!

  • Good. This Gershwin's great composition have had any type of interpretations. This is one of all. I prefer others than Alfonso's improvisation. Another hand, it is a very beautiful interpretation, mainly on start of the song. At my point of view the best is that you are feeling to play, musicians of course. The people listen and classify as they would like to ear it. Until proven otherwise the Alfonso's left hand, particulary at second part, is very very hard for myself. Could be more soft.

  • wonderfu!!!

  • some kind of awesome, i can't describe atm..

  • beautiful rendition.........

  • I just love it.

  • I don't get it - how is the song improv when written by someone else?

  • @anandamide199 Hi Greg, in jazz, there are thousands of musicians who improvise on songs written by others composers. I will do a superficial explanation: actually a song is just madeup a melody and harmony, in this case I play the harmony and melody in the first part, in the second part I use the same harmony of the first part, but not the melody, and then instead of the melody I try to improvising at the moment, as you do with jazz. :-D

I hope I explained myself well.

  • @anandamide199 Improv doesn't just mean making up something on the spot from scratch. By definition I think it means using what you have to create something, etc. So essentially you could take the skeleton of the song, and the basic melody and improvise around it, add ornaments, runs, and different harmonies and all sorts of things too numerous to go into!

(I can improvise reasonably well - but I certainly don't understand all of it technically, but I'm working on it! xD)

  • sehr entspannend :)

  • why isn't this on the album? can i buy this track?

  • @JazzielFunkard hi, this track is not for sale, sorry

  • @JazzielFunkard you want this song.?

  • How can you dislike THIS?!

  • beautiful, awesome playing !

  • @lara230911 Thanks

  • damn it boy..

  • Beautiful. Lose the IKEA rocker chair though. Sharp movements gets you to the opposite side :)

It's harder to play when your arse is moving away. You should do it yourself.

I got myself relaxed and good-mooded during this piece and I want to thank you for that. I have never before listened to your pieces.

  • @atpanula I am glad you like it, thanks :-)

  • YOU ARE AMAZING! I love your playing!:)

  • wirklich sehr sehr schön :) ich beneide dich um dein Talent :)

  • haha, i want you to teach me D:

  • Gershwin didn't fully write this song. Sure he took credit for it, but he had a lot of help, from Florence Alabama born, W.C, Handy.

  • why cant they play this on mtv?!

  • @willetheG Because Youtube is better ! :-D

  • Amazing talent. I've been playing the piano for a while now, but I'm crazy jealous of that skill you've got. I need to learn to play Summertime like that.

  • toll:)

  • maybe one day i'll play half as good as you... houston tx loves you dude!!

  • Incredible harmony. Beautiful.

  • i can only improvise with blues scale and melody, bro. What techniques do you use on improvisation dude?

  • I admit it; I am very, very jealous!

  • @chopper84a Thanks :-)

  • who are you? God?

  • Wow. Beautifully pure.

  • nice use of staccato fingering to imitate a plucked-string instrument (mandolin, it sounds like) - it really accents the song with a certain Southern sound - clever, and effective

  • omg u are ridiculous this is so cool

  • The core of Jazz is described in your music. Impressive is an understatement. Mastery over keys. Keep it up, you inspire me even if I have a bit different direction. :)

  • Wow, thats wonderful, I wish I could play this song like this

  • MAGNIFICO

  • I'm starting to do jazz improv now. I'm still on the c scale though and it sounds a lot like I'm repeating the same patterns over and over again. Any advice?

  • Yes, I remember that this one was gone, Alfonso, and weren't you afraid than to loose your whole channel? Roeleke

Hehe, this one I sang twice, with mutonroshi and Claude Sirois, and here I sing it with you once more... great style you have, it is so challenging to sing with your music, it is so jazzy... hehe, I never sang jazzy... but it feels good to do (at this moment, hahaha)

    molto bravo

  • nice

  • unbelievable!

  • OOOMG! Mi piace molttttiiiiiisiimoo!

    Grazie mille!

  • wow.... great job!! you're fantastic!!!!!

  • Do you do those licks with blues scales, pentatonic scales? I can't seem to get my hands to improvise that sound. I'm a beginner with improvising jazz. Help? :)

  • hey, he does it using a combination of various scales. It is a higher level improv than a beginner is quite ready for.

however the gist is that there is not one scale that one uses, rather it is the chord that determines which notes are base, interval or passing. So using a basic I IV V seventh progression as an example, instead of using the blues scale base I, one would vary the scale with each measure, or more precisely, each chord change.

Keep playing & it will come with time!

  • well done, donald duck, king of the ducks...i am starting the pole shift survival group.

  • What I would give to play like his. Fantastic rendition!! 5*

  • This is so vibrant and flavoursome, the pauses only add to the epic urban feel of it. Parts of it make me think of the clarinet glissando from his Rhapsody in Blue.

Not to sound pompous, but I strongly believe that you would arrange Rhapsody in Blue beautifully. Upon listening to your other pieces, especially the gorgeous Midnight Round.

  • Beautiful all the way during this performance.

I wish to play the same way.

I Thanks for sharing this great video.

  • Wonderful arrangement / improvisation! Warner took down my improvisation on Summertime too, but I didn't bother disputing it. Glad you got yours back up! :)

  • wow this quite literally bought me to tears. This song means so much to me and this is such a amazing and powerful rendition. Great Job.

  • I love how you didn't take the 'improvisation' and just take it as a chance to go to town. You really kept that street Jazz sound that Gershwin makes so Classy. You're calamity to not chase up and down the Piano like a lot of over confident players do, too. Keeping the steep octave changes for appropriate times.

Honestly, I feel this is up there with Summertime "remixes" in a sense. (along with Janis Joplin and Sublime (though they may not be your types of artists)).
