Sure the HEPA filter is dirty but your scraping it, it pretty much can change the filters usefulness to pointless. Best way to clean it would be a vacuum I know right the irony. Maybe you should let your kids be exposed to the world (not the people in the world, there just nasty) so when they get older they won't have a weak immune system. I mean this as constructive criticism not a insult to you or your loved ones. Have a good one!
@zunehdrocks Miele's have one of the poorest suction power and poorest designs of the market. When you have a vac that does not form a good seal and and a weak motor all you have is a surface cleaner. Just go buy a used Kirby for 3 or 4 hundred.
I tried a no bag vacuum and it was a real mess so a returned it at the shop for a refund. I bought a H2O Vac Turbo because the dust stays into the water but this vacuum is not sealed, so dust is all getting out back into the air. It has 3 air exhausts and only 1 is getting thru the HEPA filter. So stupid because the manufacturer says that it cleans the air. So fake !

get a royal all metal upright best machine i ever had got it home wanted to see how good it cleans put some salt in front on the carpet up to 8 inches in front it was vibrating it out of the carpet and they are not that mutch money and they have a lifetime warenty on it so even if you get it used they will stil replace a part for free we just bout a new one last year beacouse we gave our other one away that we had for 25 years and they been maken the same model with little changes scince 1905

i bought this piece of crap when i bought it the filter didnt work the embedid dirt didnt work and i every time i see dirt on the floor it picks it up but doesnt put it in the dirt cup so dont get that vacuum!!!
I fix these vacuums for a living and u are sooooooooooooo right i get those machines in more than any other machine in the biz, but Hoover is still a good brand just go for the Windtunnel Supreme great machine at a great price..........Remember always go for a bagged machine not bagless.
I have the same vacuum and the exact same problem!! I bought a Hoover because I had good luck with the last one I bought 14 yrs ago. I only now find out they are not the company they used to be and their products are worthless!!!!!! I will never buy a hoover again!
i have read many complaints on how the "self cleaning filter" stpped doing that. that just goes to show you that hoover's are not what they used to be.
Buy a Miele, all the others are useless...
