I'm just wondering what kind of specs do you have on your computer? Because when I try to render hair and fur it always crashes the program or do you have certain settings that save memory? Thanks
@v00d00rOckEt Hi, I have two dual quad xeon (that is 8 proc.) and one quad opteron. I did this on the quad opteron now wich is equivalent to a third of a i7 920... Just be as light as possible with the number of strands and the number of segments of strands.things havent changed in the last decade about this, do as much with as little you can.
Hair and fur actually is used in movies as grass too. It's just called hair and fur. Gorgeous clip you go there! WONDERFUL! But, the grass does seem to move a little fake... Didn't all that grass bog down you're system anyways? My God! Lovely!
Thanks a lot pal !! Yeah the grass is moving too weirdly. I have to change the way wind affects it.. too much noise in the wind that is.. The hair module in max is very efficient and do not kill computers too much. Let's also say that i work on a k8n-dl motherboard with 4 opteron cpu and 4 gigs of ram and it really kicks ass...
amazing !

Did have a certain setting for rendering hair and fur? When In the middle of the render it closes the program. I'm pretty sure it's a memory issue

This has been killing me, how do you make the wind effect the grass? I cant find anything on internet about this.
powerarmor222 4 years ago 3
the wind is wind with noise controller for intensity
the grass is hair and fur. affected by the wind.
made with a very cool program...3ds max
very easy to learn, cheap, fast, good.
made by discreet logic where i should go and ask for a job.

3ds max is great, but not really cheap :D

have you tryed playing with the stifness of the hair, its under the dynamics roll-out. that may look a little less fake. love the clip tho.

very good idea.
i have only two segments for the strands. maybe less stiff with less noise in the wind will be interesting.
