For a fan film its not too bad. The editing was okay and its being presented as a trailer rather than an actual film. Get an actual voice actor to read 0:45 to 1:05 and you'd get pretty close to how actual trailers look.
The acting and sets need a bit of work but Hollywood hires people just to find good places to shoot stuff.
Hey guys, you shouldn't blame someone for trying, it's all part of learning, isn't it? But man, if you want to do a school project, please state that on your title, I don't like deception..
awesome...as trailers go, this one really works as good as any made by the top movie producers..I wanna go see this film!!..nice job..:) btw, they had a hard enough time making a decent movie based on the Dune trilogy..but imagine Foundation..wow,,,, that would take one hell of great screenwriter and producer..and it would take about 10 parts??...lol...thanks for sharing your personal work with the world..those who criticize this have never made a video in their freeking life :)))))) push on!!
@elrojo79 You are mistaken. There are several battles.
There is the fall of Trantor. Seldon himself puts an end to a local conflict. One of the traders has to deal with threats from a warlord. There is a face off with remnants of the old Empire. Then there are several invasions by the Mule, and even a revolt in the foundation itself.
However, it is a mistake to focus on the battles, which a Hollywood movie is likely to do. Presenting this school project as an official trailer is also wrong.
@StimuLAZ Actually dude, the fall of Trantor isn't directly depicted in the original trilogy, it's in one of the later books, but I wasn't referencing those. Furthermore, in the first three books, no space battles are directly depicted. In every case the battles are suggested but never shown, or the groups in conflict cease hostilities just before a showdown. The only real violence in the original trilogy is on a personal level. Two guys shooting each other, or something like that.
Really, so it was a project but do you really have to put it on youtube. Come on people your not goin to get the type of "fan base" that your looking for with crappy videos
I'm reading the books at the moment... I really love them, and must say I did enjoy your video. However I'm myself a film director and yould also like to see Asimov's masterpiece on the big screen one day... if it follows the spirit of the books. Thank you for your video.
There are no aliens and the main "character" is a fusion of mathematics, psychology and history. That is, if they get it right. There is a need for some serious acting and great restraint in the use of CGI effects.
The foundation series is the best of science fiction ever wroted, i am a fan of the books for years. It is a hell of a job the film this epos it hink you can make 10 movies from this boks.
Guys good effort on putting the banners of the story outlines and mixture of special effects from other movies. My query is, if you have put so much effort into all these material, why did you added your home made clips? I think if you tried to get some makeup, costume design, and some scifi better backgrounds, even with large posters as back ground, than play with lighting. For a non professional this would have been a really cool production. Still good effort. Cheers.
The hell is this? It's just a lot of Star Trek clips, some Star Wars, a little Independence Day, some shit I didn't recognize. And who the hell's doing the talking?
I loved your video. Very fun. You must have had a very good time making it. I hope that when they make a movie of the foundation trilogy (and apparently they are), that they do it well. It has the potential to be good, perhaps very good, or horribly horribly crappy. I feel that the numerical probability of a destructively bad movie is approximately 92.5%. LOL!
i appreciate however that you alerted to some people that there is potential for this story to expand beyond the book, which i am sorry to say seem to be forgotten by many. I do not believe that foundation could be consecutive movies, but it could be made into short film series each book could be cut into pieces to create, not a television series, but not a mess of movies. a hybrid of the two.
Oh, this will be the next monster movie which want earn money from known name (like I, Robot etc.).
Only one observation: It's funny (in this trailer and many other movies) when some spaceship fly by "camera" and U can hear some like "whooooooof". In space? Have a nice day...
Nobdy understand that this is a joke?? He tooks scenes from Star Wars, Star Trek, The Lord of the Rings and puts them together in order to make us believe that it's going to exit a film about Asimov's Foundotion, but it isn't true...
It's not a "joke" dumbass. Read the description. It was a project for school.
And yes, we fucking know he took shit from Star Wars in order to make a "fan trailer", which is different from a "joke." People do shit like this all the time, but it's usually much better.
And it's still awful, as for reasons previously stated.
Sorry, but this barely resembles the Foundation story. Who is that voice who talks about the series of crises? Why does Seldon have a female voice? And who is that woman running around? Where was she in the novels?
Like the selection for cutscenes, but they change so fast as to give a person seizures. No offense, but this could've been better.
Both Star Wars and Warhammer 40.000 copy many elements from Asimov's Foundation.
Both are galactic empires with city-worlds as capitals, hmm...where did those two concepts come from now? It went so far that before there was a name for Coruscant in Star Wars, George Lucas wanted to name the planet "Jhantor," in homage to Asimov's Trantor. Just imagine that, Asimov could have sued Lucas...lol
Azimov is one of the strongest sci-fi writers the Humanity ever had. I think that the majority of ideas used in most Hollywood movies and PC games like Warhammer 40000 belongs to him.
I doubt Hollywood would do it better, based on how they butchered I, Robot.
I did this as a multi-media report for school. Not for fun or to show off or whatever, and I wasn't intending to deface Isaac Asimov's legacy. I just thought some people would find it interesting.
No it's just that my pet peeve is when people ask questions or make comments when the description already tells you. And th is goves to voteboo as well.
@TVwriter23 Hello TV writer. I haven't seen "Duh and Secondly". Is that a TV show you wrote?
Yes, "I Robot" could have been better. Then again "The Bicentennial Man" could have been much worse. Hollywood is a suburb. It is not a strict code of behaviour that forces everyone to make the same mistakes. There are a lot of individual choices in the making of any movie and many individuals are responsible for the quality of the end product.
Don't be silly; a home-made YouTube vid isn't going to have the slightest effect on Asimov's popularity. Hollywood, OTOH, has real potential to damage the good Doctor's rep & popularity - I would estimate the chances of an intelligent Foundation movie adaptation as only slightly above absolute zero. The only semi-intelligent SciFi movie ever made was 2001, and that was because Kubrick had enough standing to tell the studio suits to get lost, and had the brains to hire Arthur C. Clarke.
@wisechick Hey, I was actually complaining to these guys for making a very "childish" vid about the popular book Asimov created. I also said that Hollywood might do it better as a sarcasm because Hollywood is all about porn and half naked hot chicks based MOVIES basically which leave the idea of making a movie about FOUNDATION open to a ANIMATED-base studio only, american cartoon or an ANIME sadly.
I thought "Starman" was great but maybe I am semi-intelligent or maybe it was not made in Hollywood. Perhaps it isn't even "SciFi". I wouldn't know because I am more interested in science fiction and to some extent space fantasy that is not so serious.
Whoever is responsible for casting could eliminate "OTOH" to reduce the potential risk of damage.
@voteboo Are you kidding, leave the work to hollywood like I robot? I think that this trailer is better that the stupid interpretation of Asimov by Hollywood.
For a high school English project this is pretty good!
