  • This is the most entertaining acceptance speech I've ever heard. It kept me awake and laughing.

  • I could listen to him all day.

  • ROBERTS IS KING! MUCH RESPECT!

  • if i came out like this anywhere in public i would be nearly thrown in jail for some type of verbal assault. this guys in a room full of tolerates and under their breath, "please go away"

  • Damn Eric Roberts still hasn't been forgiven?

  • to bad guys can't be like this anymore. feminist movement made pussies out of all our guys. Fuck you I don't care.

  • @D84D Oh please. "Can't be like this anymore?" This was just two short years ago. Feminism is a bit older than that. Besides, nobody else *makes* you a pussy - you either choose to act like one or you choose to be a man.

  • @superjay42 did you catch the part about fuck you i don't care?

  • @D84D It's clear you don't care about being an idiot, yeah. I'm all for posting asinine things on YouTube comments, but you're kinda doing it wrong. Try harder IMO

  • @superjay42 I like this guy. My crude point is he's in a room full of fake people who pat themselves on the back for all of their great artistic efforts and acting like they're world savers while shopping in beverly hills. This guys as real as they come.

  • I'm watching this on repeat. You're the best Mickey !

  • Real deal - Love it.

  • Hahah this is the best acceptance speech ever! If anyone is worried about this guy Eric Roberts getting work he's got about 20 titles coming out on IMDB right now.

Mickey rules, no bs, pure heart.

  • Who's that little blonde dude that he talked about?

  • I'm just happy for him. He deserved a second chance.

  • LOL !

  • i can honestly say this: This man is a HERO. What a wonderfully honest, kind, down-to-earth human being!

  • ... what did Eric Roberts do?

  • @DarkEmergence drugs and shit.

  • SHOULDA WON THE OSCAR!!

  • fuck De Niro......Rourke is the guy, I really think his performance on The Wrestler was brilliant

  • "I asked them for two pillows, they told me to fuck off" Classic.

  • guys get some fucking sexual security, kissing somebody who has had a big part in your life (even blowing him) doesn't mean you are gay, and so what if it does? you can't whoop his ass anyway. To be honest I havn't seen as sexually insecure as Americans anywhere else.

  • @sajlovesam blowing him??? are you fucking crazy? that's totally gay (and the kiss...meh...it was a little to much)

  • I used to like him faggot!

  • @996artichoke die nerd

  • lol he kissed darren on the mouth

  • Bangin' the girl in the ass in the bathroom LOL

  • Wrestler was a magic film. Like James Dean in Rebel without a Cause or Brando in On the Waterfront it had fucking

    magic dust sprinkled across it.

  • Nick Digilio is just as good

  • That was the most funniest, raw, true and down to earth speeches I ever heard. Well done Mickey.

  • pardon my ignorance, but what did eric roberts do wrong?

  • @bigjtoday substance related. He had rage and adiction difficulties.

  • @messer12 cool thanks. i've never seen anything he's been in, but he was in dark knight right? i've seen that of course

  • @bigjtoday yah he was he can be a really good actor when he wants to. His sister is Julia Roberts and his Daughter is Emma Roberts.

  • @messer12 whoa, total mindblower. thanks for the info

  • Golden globe Mickey

  • @kaguRamoeba Oh really? Sorry I didn't know :/ But yeah he totally keeps it real. He's awesome!

  • Jesus, he just kissed Darren Aronofsky on the mouth!

  • @CitySkin09 its called balls.

  • Mickey Rourke D.G.A.F.

  • I remembered Roruke's words about Aronofsky after watching the Black Swan and reading what Natalie Portman had to do to go through to act in that movie, which turned out to be a great one.

  • FREESTYLE!!!!!!!!!!

  • Greatest acceptance speech ever! I nearly died laughing on this!

  • at least hes not pretending to be shy so more people like him

  • @RichardElden man you have no heart

  • @RichardElden i hope you get hit by a car you bastard mickey is the sweetest person, fuck off

  • It's so much easier to accept somebody for who they are, when they aren't hiding behind layers of political correctness, PR facades and excuses. Mickey is not afraid to call a spade a spade. Kudos for being one of the few real people left in the industry, many of us truly appreciate it, even if it stings sometimes.

  • Mickey Rourke is back with a bang.....awesome .

  • awesome

  • eric roberts is a fucking man! :))

  • Epic !

  • Mickey shows what a bunch of cowardly, lying, yes men, most people are. When someone speaks from the heart, and you think "Wow, that was refreshing." it shows what frauds everyone else is.

  • I've been saying the same about Eric Roberts for many years. He is a terrific and under-rated actor.

  • best actor !

  • I love that he gives props to Eric Roberts. Anyone who saw Eric's earlier work knows that as an actor he is head and shoulders above his one-note sister. Mad love for this guy.

  • whats so great about mickey is he says exactly whats on his mind. there is no lying in him. mickey is the fuckin man

  • A personality like that is so rare. He has no off switch and truly speaks his mind. He's blunt without being obnoxious. He's crude, but can tell he's a sweet guy at heart. He's awesome, so glad he's back.

  • Breath of fucking fresh air and realness....inspiring...gives us hope.

  • Mickey Rourke is a fantastic guy! I wish I could meet him.

  • Holy fuck - that was brilliant! This guy is beyond epic! This is exactly the type of person you want to know in life simply because you know what he says is the truth as far as he knows it, and that's really rare these days. People like that are so rare but when you do find one it is an unforgettable experience.

  • who is "the little blonde dude who did that thing" ?

  • This made me so happy I had to watch it twice :) what a fuckin legend

  • I THINK MICKEY ROURKE WAS ALWAYS GREAT ACTOR BUT LOOKS BETTER NOWADAYS HIS NOSE IS FLAT AND SMALL AND HES HAS A HAPPY SMILE.

  • i thought he was a twat, what a decent guy he actually is

  • it about fucking time!

  • He is right, Eric Roberts is sooooo much better now than in the 80s.

  • He is the most awesome person.... I love dogs just like the man here...

  • IFC is best channel

  • damn..mickey's awesome!

  • I met Mickey Rourke. He had plenty of time for me and was quite the gentleman. He is the true meaning of A GENTLE GIANT. RumbleFish,AngelHeart and BarFly need I say more!

  • his performance in Sin City was one of the best ive ever seen. this guy is the real deal. fuckin phenomenal actor.

  • Fucking awesome :)

  • Both Eric and Mickey are great actors

  • you have to give it to aronofsky, he made the right decision and pushed the production company all the way for mickey rourke.

  • Rourke is what Hollywood has been missing for YEARS!

Too many bloody nancy boys prancing about looking more

feminine that the bloody women. What's that shite about?

Rock On Mickey, you should of won the Oscar as well!

Normally Hollywood would of ignored a performance involving

homosexuality (see BB Mountain) but since they wanted to shite

on Mickey, they gave it to Penn who was great in Milk, but had no

chance against Rourke in The Wrestler. The Oscars can suck a fat

    monkey's bollocks! Cheers!

  • @British0Pixie I'm willing to bet a fat monkey bollocks you aint even british.... you phony!

  • @ebuz218 I'm willing to bet that any bloke who bets on a fat monkeys bollocks is probably into beastility.

Sooo, run along and get help please.

  • @British0Pixie lol!

  • @British0Pixie lol he talks about nancy boys and his user name is Pixie

  • @oldfool666 See...normally I would be all over you with a response, but apparently you just DON'T seem to know the differnce between gurls and blokes, so I'll just let this go. Why don't you try looking at someone's page and learning the difference you tool. Cheers! (ROURKE BLOODY RULES!)

  • @British0Pixie Oh okay but you're still a man right?

  • @oldfool666 Yeah, as much as your mum is. Now go shave her back please.

  • @British0Pixie Oh okay. so by that you mean you're not that much of a man then? This surprises. You are quite an intriguing fellow monsieur! Or should that be madame?!

  • @oldfool666 ...your user name says it all I guess. What a bloody prat.

  • @British0Pixie Say something funny for the nice man boy! "I wuv you!!"

  • Clearly, Natelie Portman had the "balls" to bring it for Black Swan! xD

  • Mickey Rourke is the FUCKING MAN!!

  • haha he is amazing :D love him.

  • çok iyi be

  • OMG, I loved his speech! Funny shit!

  • The Oscars show is too much of stuffy, bitch @ss show to deal with an acceptance speech like this! That's why I don't watch it!

  • This is EXACTLY why Mickey should of got the oscar! Instead, Sean Penn(obviously a well connected person in hollywood, who pulled a few strings to get the award)won the damn thing and we had to settle for his self-righteous, over-rated, boring ass!!!

  • that was crap, just like a conversation with a boring hobo. Maybe I'm just a sucker for grandeur.

  • where the fuck do does people come from who keep thumbing down the best goddamn videos!

  • If you went to watch the 2pac trials like Mickey did than you are real! This shows that even more!

  • I think Anne Hathaway screwed up the white balance on the camera.

  • @KillerWulf777 ROTFL!!

  • That's why Mickey didn't got Oscar...he's real man

  • Is he wearing a pendant with a picture of that little rat dog? Good grief.

  • He is a great man, speaks the truth, and doesn't care what others think! ;)) He has a heart ;)))

  • mickey is hilarious!

  • is that the chick from jurassic park presenting his award?

  • @norvilledoo Lol, yeah Laura Dern.

  • no fucking music to cut their speaches, that's why i lovo the Spirit Awards. Fuck oyu Oscars!!

  • he embarresed Eric Roberts!!! but he mean good though

  • fucking great. enough said ♥

  • the best

  • Yo Mick! You are da God damn Man brother!

  • Hahaha...I could listen to this guy all night!

  • Philip Seymour Hoffman makes me physically sick. The most overrated actor working today.

Mickey Rourke is the real thing.

  • the funniest acceptance speech I ever heard X

  • the best... great Mike...

  • I love his opening about Eric Roberts. Beautiful.

  • I still think that Mickey was robbed from an Oscar!

  • Happiness allround! Love to Mickey.

  • he is greate :)

  • Poor Eric Roberts, having that bitch of Julia Roberts as a relative keeps him from being casted in good roles. FUCK YOU Julia Roberts.

  • U knw thats a man right there when...Even after kissing a couple of dudes on the mouth in public, no one doubts ur sexuality..

  • You all talking about oscar...hm, I personally don't think he should won, his performance was great, wonderfull, heartbreaking and all, but he actually played himself, and it's not about acting, but about casting. I would be really happy for him, if he did get it, mostly because he would deserve it for all the shit he has been through and he was be able to get back. He's a really cool, talented actor and guy and I love him, but this is IMO the reason why he didn't get it and I kinda agree.

  • @alikalik85 You've committed a pretty serious fallacy. We can only judge a piece of work independently of its author, actor, director or artist. We cannot claim that there is any relation between his performance and his actual personality or experiences. We also cannot claim to know anything about his personality/experience to begin with, because everything we know of him is through some other medium. So I think it's wrong to say that this isn't really "acting."

  • @ssoab You're right about part that we know only what media gave to us and about part that we're not suppose to judge relation between performance and actual personality, but I think that Oscar Academy does. Acting is IMO about the ability to turn yourself believably to completely another person. I really don't wanna underrated his work at all, but Penn deserved it too and one of them just had to get it, and the fans of the other guy had to be dissapointed. And MR doasn't give a sh*t anyway.

  • @alikalik85 Acting is far more than about "turning yourself believably to completely another person". Thats a really simplistic view of acting - sometimes thats just outward and all performance. I've seen Penn better - in my opinion sometimes he really overacts. Rourke will be remembered for this performance long after Penn's is forgotten, because he really connected with people deeply and expressed some very profound truths.

  • @92ninersboy It's just about taste and characters of us (watchers) who's gonna be touched by who. I also like (was touched by) Wrestler (and Mickey's performance) more than Harvey Milk's, but I bet someone has it upside down than me and it's really intolerant to say that Penn's gonna be forgotten - maybe by yourself, probably by myself too, but not for the fans, who was touched by Harvey Milk's destiny. Acting IS about that ability (what you wrote is part of it), good script is helpfull.

  • @alikalik85 I said that I felt Rourke's performance will be long remembered in film history, more so than Penn's in "Milk". I'm talking about something that resonates long after the political issues of the day. I'm not talking about Penn's whole career. This has happened a number of times with the oscar - nothing new there. This has nothing to do with "Harvey Milk's destiny" - that's historical and political. I'm talking about a truly great acting performance.

  • @92ninersboy And I think it's all relative. And I don't understand why one of them had to be prefered by film history, if it's big enough for both. And I wasn't talking about politics neither, but about acting, just performance. Penn did a great job too(watch some videos with real Harvey Milk). I don't care about politics, I'm talking about acting - purely as a proces of making yourself being someone else. And it's all up to you which personage you'll be identify with and who touches you more.

  • @alikalik85 I saw "Milk". I was a much bigger fan of "The Life And TImes OF Harvey Milk" the documentary. IMO Sean Penn has given better acting performances, as in "The Sweet Lowdown". He did a good imitation of Harvey Milk but I wasn't that much into his "performance". This is art we're talking about - not science (and hopefully not politics, although I think that IS the case with the oscars). People can have different reactions.

  • @92ninersboy Exactly - people can have different reactions - thats the sentence I would close all this with. Thanks for replying me and I hope you've been taking this as a discussion like I have, not as a fighting. (The insufficient tolerance is the worse thing on the earth...)

  • Poor Eric Roberts (so great in 'Raggedy Man', 'Star 80', 'Pope of Greenwich Village', etc.). Every citizen deserves to beat up a cop once in their life, on general principle, and decriminalize the herb, damnit!

  • Apparently Natalie Portman had "the balls to bring it" on an Darren Aronofsky movie.

  • @ayansb I agree, and she lost alot of weight, so she was in shape as he says.

  • Comment removed

  • this is literally the only reason he didnt win an oscar... they were afraid this would happen!

  • i think he`s truly unhappy and lonely person. you`ll never find out what he feels. he always has got the sad eyes and he makes an impression that he is actually elsewhere ...

  • @dominiquemariep I agree. He seems really out of his element among this Hollywood crowd, but I'll be damned if I say he isn't a good actor.

  • haha fucking great

  • am i the only one who thinks he's hot in this video?

  • he's got a hell of a sence of humor! ^O^

  • Eric Roberts was badass in The Expendables.

  • @Nezz415 i think he meant that this was Mickeys moment not his.

  • 43 seconds in guy goes in for a hug DENIED

  • eric roberts is awesome

  • did he really just kiss that guy on the lips?

  • Hands down the best acceptance speech ever made

  • This is the kind of speech that is such a pleasure to hear. Just straight from his heart, unfiltered by what is right or polite and extremely funny.

  • @subjoy1 hehe you went through 6 minutes of this asshole

  • just arrogant and trying to say "shocking" words.

  • THE KFC COLONEL HIMSELF. I SULUTE YEE

  • Imagine people talking like Mickey Rourke does at a wedding: THAT'S ballsy right there

  • Oh my god ! What a speech..This shows that he spoke what his mind said....FUCK THE FUCKING HEART MAHN...

  • And that is why he did not get an oscar...because the academy is just too much of a pussy to allow a speech like this...and they must be expecting a speech like this

  • Crazy Guy hahahaha

  • best speech ever?

  • Damn, if all the Hollywood filmmakers that Rourke has pissed off over the years lead to him not being able to get work, he would be a great stand up comic.

  • if only more people just didn't give a shit what other people thought and had the balls to say "fuck" at an awards ceremony, this world would be a better place.

  • he is so fucking real...no bullshits with mikey :)

  • @lapafrent i totally agree with you... He is so real... Except for his FACE, it's so tight he could barely laugh. HAHAHAHA

  • thats awusome that he said that about eric roberts.. i love that movie that he was in years ago called runaway train

  • Thanks for posting this! I NEVER saw this clip of Mickey!

  • wow, we need more of that.

  • not many girls can climb the pole? lol some1 explain what that means?

  • @iaintmadatcha

She played a stripper in the movie, and pole danced several times.

  • @iaintmadatcha penis bro, penis

  • aww loki!!!

  • An American treasure

  • people dedicate their awards to humans.. this man dedicate his award to his dead dog... he is the man

  • Ma-mammamamamaamarisa Tomei, lol classic

  • this guy is more of a rock star than an actor(personality-wise)

  • The GREATEST acceptance speech in history!!!

  • @SecretDimension

yeah I co-sign that just real shit from mickey no censor no politically corretness

  • if only this could be delivered as an oscar acceptance speech

  • best award acceptance speech

  • I like Hathaway's reaction 5:18 and just before the end, Aronofsky leaning in to his wife and if you can read his lips, I think he says "That's why I love him".
