  • wot.the.fuck.

  • Folks this is STYX by permission from Dennis Deyoung who is no longer in band along with 2 other founding members, I saw this cherade of a band play after a Bull Riding event in KC on the back of a flatbed trailer..Sad..very sad...

  • @TheShelterman You're stretching the truth there a bit. First off the origional styx was an unsuccessful band, then tommy shaw joined....styx mk2, known as the classic lineup, which is what people know styx for...not the origional band as you declare! both johns died so you can't bring them back now can you? In reality the only member missing from the classic lineup thats still alive is dennis. 3/5 of the classic lineup are still there including chuck p who was there before dennis, get over it!

  • Video sucks...well only a little...come back!! dennis!!

  • The really sad thing is that I could probably have made this video right here at home on my computer -- but I could never in a million years come anywhere CLOSE to being able to make the "Music Time" video!!!

  • @1nceBitten2wiceShy Wow great call genious...Since, if I'm not mistaken this video was made by styx on a pc! oh and the music time video not only cost alot of money but was a total bomb! But what would you expect after that crappy kilroy album?

  • @wakaw07 That wasn't meant as an insult, just a comment. I probably should have said "The ONLY sad thing...". - 1b2s

PS: You misspelled "genius". (Any other word i could've let go -- sorry!)

  • I liked the Styx of the 80's. This doesn't sound like Styx just like a straight cover of (probably) the best psychadelic record ever made. I think they (and everyone else) should have left this testament to the 60's well alone.

  • A great homage! long live the Beatles! Styx is so underestimated. Such musicianship!

  • ..."boy, you've been a naughty girl, you let your knickers down"... party nekkid

  • For it being Styx... a 2nd level band at best... it's really done well !

  • @TacomaPaul Right a 2nd rate band lol tell that to their 4 consecutive Multi Platinum albums Which they were the first american band to do so

  • @rockofhysteria You're basing how a good an artist is by SALES ?

Oh, you poor misguided soul. BUT !... ya likes what ya likes, sooooo.

  • @TacomaPaul I'm saying whether they are good artists or not I'm just pointing out how dumb someone is for calling a band who's been around this long sold Millions and Millions of records and still has a Big fanbase to this day all around the world a 2nd rate band. lol

  • dynamite, as Styx always is.

  • Am I high ?

  • It's not bad...and remember that the Beatles version was a studio recording with a lot of orchestration from Geoirge Martin. Did the Beatles ever play it live? It might have sounded a bit like this if they had. I quite like Jim Carreys version on the George Martin tribute album.

  • @frglee Actually the Beatles stopped touring in 1966, and they only played one show after that, which was their famous last appearance together on top of Abbey Road studios, and they didn't play the walrus.

  • Best Cover Version Ever

  • Great song¡

  • I looked up lysergic acid diethylamide and found this...

  • its an okay cover

  • great cover

  • I'm a turtle

  • The Beatles were rock. Styx too.

  • Personally, I don't know why anybody would try to cover this song. It's just so much a Beatles song. But to each his own.

  • I know I'll get hate responses for this but I've always thought the beatles were overrated. especially John lennon. That said, this is a really good cover of the song.

This lineup of styx is great. They're would be no more styx if DDY was still with them

He usses them as a cash cow.

  • @crystal33ify

you're entitled to your opinion; however you are wrong ;)

  • It's not glen, it's Lawrence.

  • This song and video are sooo trippy

  • Standing in the english rain and sitting in a english garden are references to Great Britain but waiting for the van to come being a VW Bus, VW is German. Beatles were the most Awesome & Epic freaks of nature in the world back in the day! Rock on Beatles, Styx, Bon Jovi, etc! (Of course knowning that the Beatles were mainly pop)...

  • Sittin' On a Corn Flake! Glen did a fantasic job doing the cover on this Beatles song! The Classics are AWESOME!!!

  • Glen, You did this Good ole Beatles song justice!

  • fucking crazy song. THE BEATLES CHANGED THE MUSIC.

  • coocooKachoo!!!!

  • @travaail It's "Goo Goo Ga Joob".

  • copyed from the Beatles

  • @MarioMario6298 it's called a Cover song

  • @MarioMario6298 No shit Sherlock

  • @MarioMario6298 Duh?

  • does the video make you feel high or is it just me?

  • @kellytron06 its with me too

  • Agreed, song is very GAY. So is the guy that posted it. Call me a fool.. read all that post, who is the fool now?

  • I generally don't like Beatles covers but I have to admit this is pretty good

  • styx sucks

  • @ivan6194life BLASPHEMY DEVIL BE GONE

  • The only true walruses are John Lennon And Paul McCartney.

  • arent these the faggots that sung that gay song about sailboats

  • @i69children

these guys own and tht sail boat song owns ur the faggot

  • @yoda1345 these guys suck and the beatles version is way better

  • @i69children this version isn't as good as the beatles, but styx is a solid band.

  • First time every hearing this song. I love Styx, I love the Beatles. imho, i think Lennon did it better, but its still good

  • Dude looks like micky thomas... song is gay

  • @onebad67tempest

    You are a fool.

  • styx trademark at the end..

  • Don't knock Styx you Beatles freaks, I think its safe to safe to say that styx loves the Beatles too, oh and you try covering this and see what happens. Yep I thought so , you can't do it!

  • @wakaw07 you took the works out of my mouth these bands look up the beatles that is why they cover the songs

  • FUCK YOU

  • Like is Styx played this song better than the Beatles

  • good stuff trippy

  • I saw this at spac...new respect!

  • Is that not Gowan singing???

  • @tllunnjr it is. this is from the album "big bang theory", which was released in 2005, well after DDY left and gowan took his place.

  • @tllunnjr yes in deed its Gowan or Lawrence Gowan

  • A bit literal don't ya think

  • Shut the fuck up Donny

  • Wow. I'm surprised. Great Cover!

  • not bad at all, still the beatles' version s better! but Bono's version may (i say MAY, in my opinion)be the best!

  • What are these people smoking, and where the hell can I get it?

  • Only One Beatles

  • why sooo angry - its only a song :-Z

  • coo coo cachoo

  • I'm a seal

  • Allusion: Lucy in the sky 1:12 .... I did learn something in your english class this year ..... I love/miss you miss Ayers .... Sam F.!!!! ; )

  • 7 people are hippos...

  • nothing compared to the original

  • I heard them do this Live SOOO GOOOD!

  • Holy Cow, sounds just like the Beatles...G

  • y must styx persist.....stairway to heaven, this, god knows what else

word of advice styx.....just stop making covers

  • damn, this is pretty damn good cover

  • @caulinrocker Yeah me too!

  • ok this song makes no sense to me....lol the video is freaky....lol but i like it..were they on something when they made this??lol

  • @cenicks1 No but the Beatles were, they wrote this song.

  • Im not asleep am I?

  • This video makes me feel like I overdosed a little on my medications 8)

  • "one likes to believe in the freedom of music

but glittering prizes and endless compromises

shatter the illusion of integrity yeah"

  • Holy crap thats so trippy

  • 3 people wish they were the walrus..

  • I never liked this beatles song at all, until styx covered it,now i listen to it all the time.....weird!

  • @ThatsThaFactJack oddly me too!

  • styx has plenty of there own songs i think they did as good as the beetles

  • STYX (THE BEATLES)---''I AM THE WALRUS''

  • I've always hated it when bands do remakes of other bands' songs, especially if the original is good. Is it for lack of their own original songs to sing!? LOL

  • definitely not better than the beatles' version but not a bad attempt.

  • Where´s Styx? Styx is dead, whoever says it isn´t so: BS. No DDY, no JP...some things are better laid to rest before they transform into self parodies...flame whatever you want.

  • definitely not as good as the Beatles but then again they are the GODS of music really, so that isn't really bringing down Styx much.

  • eh, it's okay, they'll never be AS GOOD as the beatles though

  • I normally HATE when people cover or even SAMPLE a Beatles tunes.... I clicked on this waiting to bash on 165 likers and agree with the 2 dislikers when I was taken aback and by complete surprise! This is actually good stuff! :D Not a bad cover. (:

But I agree with @vampiresd0ntsparkle on

    1. Vampires really DON'T sparkle

    2. They [Styx] will NEVER be AS GOOD as THE BEATLES.

To be general, NOBODY will. Enough said.

  • The only thing more crazy than this is the what what in the butt video.

  • Crappy ending, but the rest is cool

  • they can make a tribute to the beatles, but they are NOT the beatles

  • Great cover, shit video.

This has to be the most literal music video i have ever seen. and looks like it was made in after effects by a 10 year old

  • These guys were so fried

  • At 2:32 they're in a graveyard.

  • is todd wearing a The Darkness shirt? damn!

  • Very good, but no one will ever do I Am The Walrus better than John Lennon

  • @jerrwalk The thing is he never performed it live...........so that's why Styx was invented in 1970:)

  • @caulinrocker I disagree, Gowan has a huge connection to the beatles and John Lennon...from recording an album at Ringo Starrs house, recording a song and video for lennons 70th birthday aniversary and finally performing lennon songs at benefits over the years in Toronto!

  • Nice cover, awesome video, but they got some words off lol

  • 1 Person is'nt the walrus

  • @CngDelta757 good one....

  • First thing that comes up when you type in LSD. Hmmmm...

  • Nice cover

  • There should be a law where bands are'nt allowed to re-do the original virsion of another band's song. If the original gorup want's to re-do it,fine, otherwise leave it alone.

  • @HUSKY57887 There should be a law that stops people from posting stupid things on youtube.

  • really bad music vieo. great song.

  • I think STYX made this song better then Beatles.. I know I will get hate on this.. but I really don't like the Beatles that much, and STYX has been my favorite band since I was a baby. I just seemed them preform this live on November 6th, for my 16th birthday. (:

  • @kdai2012 I LOVE the Beatles but I do agree with you. They sung it better. Although I always thought the song was funny :P

  • Me and my girlfriend were serving icecream under the grandstand at the county fair for the person who bought her pig and stix was playing. this song sounded amazing. and hearing every one stomping their feet was great. i would of been there had i not been conned into helping

  • it stands by the original. no cover is good as the origional, a few exceptions go with this but still

  • I am the pingas.

  • Genius!

  • .... Oh God... What have they done.

  • The walrus was Paul.... *nod* great version of this song!!

  • Great cover

  • Frick, Gowan is the man

  • wicked awesome, but it cant beat the original his voice is too, raspy

  • 1 Person is a seal not a walrus

  • Love this video...great visual!

  • Wouldn't have to do covers if Dennis was with them. It's a good cover though.

  • @commandertrig It's really the only cover they do...and it is because of Larry Gowan loving the Beattles, not because Dennis isn't there.

  • @cemmc13 the whole last album was a cover album... that says quite a bit lol...

  • @person042 Let me see....artists that have done cover albums, ozzy osbourne, rush, def leppard, styx, rod stewart, guns n roses......the list goes on and on. all it says is that great bands like to pay homage to the songs that influenced them. you fail!

  • It's really the only cover they do...and it is because of Larry Gowan loving the Beattles, not because Dennis isn't there.

  • I never understood the lyrics of this song...

  • I like The Beatles singing it BETTER

  • @SoMeJuGgAlO101 yeah, well-- they're the BEATLES, after all.

  • I love Styx and the Beatles but this is about as bad as the original, which I own. Well, it's a good cover to a bad song. The music video fits it well, though.

  • #Iamthewalrus

  • Bringing in this Lawrence Gowan guy was an excellent move for Styx!!!

  • Styx is one of the only groups that can still pull this off...back many years ago a band called Crack the Sky did a great version of this tune...Enjoyed!!

  • Eh. The Beatles sing it better. But it's still good.

  • 0 people hit dislike, 0 people can go... wait.... nevermind

  • Justice done to the Beatles for sure!!!

  • Great version!

  • lol no offence, but how much pot did they smoke to make up this song?

  • @JBlu26 the y didn`t make this song the beatles did

  • very good cover, not sure about the new singer though

  • the video kicks ass

  • For people who believe that the people who make the music are, inexplicably, more important than the music itself, this is not Styx. I am not one of those people. Yes is still Yes, The Who is still The Who, Pink Floyd is still Pink Floyd, Van Halen, AC/DC and on and on. This is a great cover.

  • Don't know when Styx did this, just saw it today, all I can say is it took a lot of balls for them to do a beatles classic like this, but good!

  • See now that is music, not modern country, rap, screamo, or pop

  • Styx aint Styx without Dennis at lead vocals...this guy SUCKS! When Dennis was betrayed by Styx, Styx was over! Another Beatles song RUINED!

  • @habsman1 oh common this cover isnt that bad....

  • @WildSharkXxX Sorry, but this aint the Styx i grew up with, without Dennis at lead vocals its tainted. And this guy here is terrible! In my opinion people shouldnt be able to just sing other groups songs, they seldom do it justice...like here for example.

  • @habsman1 I guess you disapprove of

Satifaction by the Stones (a cover)

The Locomotion by Grand Funk (a cover)

A Little Help from my Friends (a cover)

After Midnight and Cocaine by Eric Clapton (covers)

Twist and Shout by the Beatles (a cover)

My Imagination by the Stones (a cover)

Rock and Roll Heaven by the Righteous Brothers (a cover)

    and dozens of others.

  • @jwmellott Just for the record . . . Satisfaction by the Stones is most definitely NOT a cover; the rest are - assuming you mean Joe Cocker's version of A Little Help from my Friends (most people only know the Beatles original).

  • @habsman1 well its not the styx I grew up on either but it is really good and so is Gowan, To say he "terrible" is just nonsence! Deyoung went south anyways always singing ballads, so at least styx is rock band again! I00% support from me!

  • @wakaw07 Gowan cant sing half as good as Dennis Deyoung could...not even close!

  • @habsman1 Well they are nothing alike and Dennis is just too Broadway for most most people with rock "n" roll sensibilities. Like I said I'm an old styx fan, but I'll take the current lineup any day over what direction Deyoung would have the ship going in! Sorry, just my opinion and really most people I know feel the same way. It's also 10+ years after the fact and its time for everyone to move on.

  • @wakaw07 I also believe Dennis had to leave the band due to a chronic illness...I completely agree with you...I think if Dennis was still with the band, they would be headlining in Vegas and not rocking out across the USA.. I just saw them the other night in Indiana and they NEVER disappoint!!!

  • @TheDkroop Did you see the pieces of eight/illusion tour? Lucky you if you did. Their not coming up to Canada for this tour....sucks for me!

  • @wakaw07 I did see the Pieces of Eight/Grand Illusion tour in Merrillville on Saturday night....going to the Toledo concert in November also!

  • ...and Dennis can't sing half as good as someone too...and so on and so on and so on....!

  • @cemmc13 He sings better than this clown!

  • Fav. Song: Check

Fav. Band as of this moment: Check

    End result: Win.

  • @dancingdudesean hmmmm, i have know idea, why did a search for metal music give me a video about painkiller addiction (true f-ing story)

  • this is prolly the ONLY beatles cover that is actually better than the original! i'm a huge beatles fan and most of the beatles songs i believe are untouchable, but this is of their songs that i really can't stand, and i think this version is absolutely FANTASTIC!!!!!

  • This is the only cover of 'I Am The Walrus' worth ever listening to. Ever.
