I am not affiliated with this project, but for those looking to support this project, it is now up on Indie Go Go (kickstarter like website). Search for AudioGL
This looks amazing! Please tell me how I can send you all my money. :) Seriously though, I'd love to support this as a Kickstarter and could beta test the hell out of it.
Amazing program. Looking forwart for the first playable edition. It's something that I was hoping to pop out for some years. If there is something we can do to promote further AGP please inform. I am curently interested for beta testing as a sound engineer and as a musician.
the sentence "This is a 3D instrument" feels like there'll be X/Y transformations to the Z stream of data only possible/usable or easily comprehensible through a 3D system. Eagerly waiting to see what may come out of this =)
The only comment that pops on my mind is "DemoScene got pwned by TraxScene" ;P ...meaning, watching such a music making/playing 3D environment make the old TraxScene "own" the 3Dish DemoScene pieces, where the graphic show *IS* the music :D
I personally think humanity has suffered a great loss that this project is not open source. A great loss to the artists who arn't sure of themselves, and a loss to everyone else for never hearing what they could of made. I truly hope you are a commercial success.
@oEQjet The great thing about open source: nobody's stopping you from writing your own open source software. Software creators should be able to make a living however they choose to do so. Would the world/your life have been better if this had never been created? If not, then there was no loss. Indeed, if the author can get to a point where it is deemed distributable, I'm sure a lot of people will happily hand over money.
Love it. I usually write and produce music in the more traditional formats (studios, musicians, physical instruments, microphones, etc..) But I'm fascinated with this - not only as a new visual approach, but also in the way it mixes very simple and complex sound generation. The ability to connect any module to another is great. And what seems to be a lot of random "accidents" is awesome.
I do use lots of softsynths (with real instruments) and am looking forward to seeing more of this program.
... Wow. Unbelievable! Can't imagine how much work went into this and what a labour of love it's been for you. Incredible what you've come up with -- looks and sounds gorgeous. Congratulations!
You mention the visuals are procedural as well.. Does that mean, that the camera control and used fx all can be made directly inside the program, or does it require an external program like adobe after effects?
for all you haters out there, if you aren't seeing/hearing anything out of interest here then you simply have no clue what the fuck you are looking at. take a look at the other video, then shut your face.
I see mostly gimmick here. The sound output is nice and clean, but not really significantly better than what a good software setup can do. (In particular a modular environment like Reaktor.)
It looks nice, but I can actually imagine it being a nightmare to work with. The notes are basically really zoomed out whit lines. No indication of which note is played in which amplitude, and then trying to match it in time visually with other notes... The conventional 2D grid seems to be a better workflow.
WILL THIS WORK WITH ABLETON LIVE OR IS IT GOING TO BE A STAND ALONE I DEFINITELY WOULD LIKE TO SUPPORT THIS VIRTUAL INSTRUMENT. I WOULD TALK TO ABLETON LIVE ROBERT HENKE ABOUT THIS PROJECT FOR FUTURE FUNDING.
Ableton (who created Live) answered me, that your project is quite interesting and you should contact them! So head over to them and let them know: ableton dot com ..... And don't forget me when you make your first million! Cheers and all the best, Chris!
it sounds amazing. i think is not take many time with fuding, you may start facebook page and twitter befor website is done and many people come to support, it very interesting project to electro music productions and sounddesign. look forward to this project. Good Luck
Although it's completely convincing in terms of style and sound, it's still unclear what the workflow with this beast might look like. You should post a hands on video or something like that to get more people (and especially potencial customers and sponsors) interested.
nice! you should create a website I ask for help with funding... those who contribute should receive a free copy when the program is done.. good luck!
@VIPSTARHinaichigo My apologies for the lack of information that has been made available at this time. I'm am unsure as to whether there will be a Kickstarter-esque fundraiser for this project. I am currently trying to gauge how much interest there is.
For the moment, I have placed the track for this video on BandCamp. If you want to purchase a high quality copy of the track, please visit audiogl.bandcamp.com.

So is it CPU-rendering the audio and the GUI is GL? Or are you offloading audio synthesis onto the GPU as well? That would excite me much more :)

anyway, nice demo (in the sense of demoscene), but not a product.
gimmick for visual type of persons, which most of musicians are not.
