  • and then the car stops...

  • 53X11 @ 140rpm...good leg speed

  • he used 39/11,im sure!!!

  • 1:23 only 129 km/h... fail

  • No-one said or asked anything about wind direction either. Funny though, when you post this kind of stuff on Youtube with a car or motorbike you have the local police at your doorstep in days, seems leg power is still inversely proportional to brain power, and there was me thinking every child was guaranteed a basic education.

  • @LittleGodOfGods Why is your username LittleGodOfGods?

  • why did he do that ?

  • @LittleGodOfGods destiny or just because he can..

  • if anyone thinks, this is fake: make yourself clear that this is Theo Bos, one of world's best track bicycle riders ;) so if someone has power and can ride fast and knows how to ride a bike, then it's him. And he got plenty of slipstream and a downhill road. This is absolutely possible...and insane :D

  • @Bastie93DLM what kind of gear ratio did he use?? 66:11 or something? LOL

  • @jfv65 66/11 I think, 64:11 might be more realistic, I never saw a bike with 66 sprockets ;D but 64 is used in motor-paced cycling, and actually, that's what he does for training there. So it might be 64:11 ;)

  • i wish i could RUN this fast!!!

  • anak puta ka

  • Change gear if you wanna go faster. It's easy, really.

  • хотя без воздушного потока авто он бы не разогнался и до 80

  • полный пиздец

  • пиздец

  • Theo de beste!

  • Most of you mongoloids ignore that he has a vehicle punching a massive fuck off hole in the air right in front of him, destroying the resistance the rest of us mortals would face,

  • @mil0oz How the fuck else would you go 83mph on a roadbike??? Unless you had a 40 degree decline maybe, but the wind turbulence would probably fuck you up before that..

  • @mil0oz but they always do that in bike speed records (except the one where the guy raced down a volcano)

  • @mil0oz you're forgetting the massive fuck off suction the vehicle creates

  • @mil0oz you damn mongol ignore that it actually takes a incredible amount of force and stamina just to keep up with the aerodynamics behind the car. this ain't no fucking rocket in front of him who create some kind of forcefield where there is no air or whatever. this is simply training the momentum of speed. it is incredible how fast he can peddle. and that is what this is about. and i hope you don't ignore the fact that he is THEO BOS, who reached 120km/h on a flat road in highest clutch?

  • @MorphX To have something like a car in front of you will make it A LOT easier.. but yeah, it still takes you shit load of stamina and training to even be able to do such a ´thing :)

  • Man i did this in Gran Canaria and reached hill down 160 , in my fiat panda..

  • @STUDIO48

solo 160 ??? Seguro que le faltaba aceite!!

  • downhill fuckers

  • imajine riding a fixedgear at that speed

  • he is in the cars slip stream a little pocket created while driving so the car is basically toeing him !!!!!!!

  • like a bos(s)

  • this fool aint got shit on dave legrys. 110 mph on a fixed gear.

  • World landspeed recordholder Fred Rompelberg (268 km/h on a bicycle!) is also A Dutch mann,

  • I wouldn't dare to that close behind a vehicle! Is there is a bump in the road - or anything else which is hidden from view by the vehicle - you can get a hell of an accident.

(having just said that I realize that he also can see more of what is in front of the vehicle by looking over and through it than I just realized.. but still)

  • wow mad riding :) love it

  • its easy to do you need no cycling skills for to that

  • @MrJonathanverhoeven trust me m8 u do need skill an brakery ITS HARD

  • @Joelibois Agreed, even travelling at 80 to 90 km an hour solo down hill requires skill and concentration

  • Good job. If that was a standard 53/12 gearing it would be more like 250+ rpm for 140kph. Thats impressive!. Those track riders - and indeed Theo Bos - are monsters when it comes to bike handling!

  • Comment removed

  • Without the pace car he would go not nearly as fast

  • @cerealrulz very smart.. (NOT!)

  • @cerealrulz .... U R an idiot!

  • @OLDCRAZYLADY Uh, no I'm not?

  • @cerealrulz yup!

  • logisch dattie 140 gaat achter die auto sjonge jonge zeg iedere sukkel gaat 140 achter n auto kolere wat n mafkeezen!!!

  • fake !!! normal the bike will breaks in 2 with this speed

  • @kennyboyke Yes, a normal bike. I doubt that this man took his grandma's bike to go to the shop and then by the way decide to do this speed record :D

  • i can average 200km/h on any uphill.

  • Greatttt

  • i love your style nice !!!!!!!!!!

  • I've never known any standard bike geared for speeds over about 80 kph. How did you manage to apply force at such a high speed?

  • @bikingforbrie A "standard gearing" for professional rider would be 53 tooth chainring and 11 tooth cog. A bike with such gearing and 20mm wide tyres would require a cadence of 196RPM to keep up with a car going 120km/h (Theo falls behind at 125km/h). An olympic level track rider should be expected to be able to produce such cadence in short bursts. I'm not a very good rider but I can spin 140RPM for 10-15 seconds on track and peak at 160 for nearly unmeasurably short periods on rollers. :)

  • ah this is nothing. this is my warm up. after a month without riding. spinning a 42x19. uphill.

  • Theo Bos is awesome!

  • En dan gewoon vol op je rem trappen hehe

  • Dutch Power!!!

  • watch this! watch this! watch this! watch this! watch this! watch this! watch this!'' CERVELO TOMAHAWK sprint test! part 1 (MUST SEE!!!) ''

  • THEO BOSS

  • has to do with air resistance.

because he's driving behind a car, the resistance is very low.

  • @albin234AJ Like a Derny chase on the road.

  • translation??

  • @teokiatuan2 The first minute they just talk about who they are (their names) and what they just did. They talked about training on the streets...

  • Comment removed

  • fake.

  • this is like... totally freaking insane.

btw he's drvin in the cars slipstream and downhill, what makes him go about 70km faster i guess. Anyway - awesome driving

  • i'd like to see someone doing 140kph on a flat road.. without drafting.

  • @jheiD5 LOLX tat would be pretty impossible... unless u put in an engine lolx

  • man, his gear ratio must have been like, 60 12 or something.

  • are you telling me that he went 87 miles per hour on a bike?

  • @xX6jdub9XxaaaA Well he was drafting which is a huge help, but yes and its a ridiculous achievement. He'd need a special bike to do that w/o drafting.

  • Awesome. This gets me psyched up to go ride in the heat right now. I wonder how fast he could go without drafting that vehicle, though? I'm not saying the speed isn't impressive, it certainly is, but I wonder what he, or anyone could do without the vehicle and also without aero gear. I also wonder what type of crazy gearing he's running, even with that high a cadence.

  • je zal nu maar op je bek gaan :D

  • net this young man a few years ago this guy is definitely from another planet

  • Road must have been smooth - considering no suspension.

  • lol imagine a fixed gear.. "100!... 110!!!.. okay now stop..stop! STOP!" ahah

  • I know this road. it's down hill and you can reach 60 km/h without a pedal stroke. on the right you can see the km-stones at 0:50 and 1:24. So he did 1km in 34s, that's average speed of 106 km/h. The video isn't a fake at all. However, it's not a matter of power but a matter of supless. Everybody can do that, if he manages to do about 190 rpm (I guess not even Cavendish can do that) and isn't afraid of the speed. Personally, I wouldn't

  • @pomchipz im sure being as fast as bos definitely helps.

  • @pomchipz an aussie track star of the 90"s holds the aussie sports academy rpm record of 300 on an ergonometer....i am an amatuer and have spun 186rpm on the road, flat road

  • @pomchipz I can do 190rpm but can't put out any useful power at that speed. I'm almost jerking off the saddle!

  • @TimpBizkit - What are you doing to the saddle?! /:-\

  • @philthy129 lol

  • @TimpBizkit rpm of the crank or wheel

  • @BallerSkier crank rpm and only for a few seconds. It was basically around 11mph in a 19 inch gear just for a laugh

  • @pomchipz so basically not everybody could......

  • @pomchipz

    Manfred Nüscheler

    over 235RPM

    0-100kmh in 1.7sec (roller)

    2378watt for 5 sec.

    over 130kmh on the roller

    look at recordholders org

  • @empiretotalwar1

Theo Bos is a pro on the track and a bit on the road. he IS really fast.

  • zonder helm......

  • Cycling at 140km/h... i would love to see the speedcameraphoto on this one.

  • Well ya thats person is fast! BUT... he is right in that cars slipstream and i think there is a good downhill slope. Never the less. Very High speeds

  • Nice

  • good

  • no puede ser 132 km me estas chamulando

  • amazing

  • fastest i have ever gone was 60mph downhill. i would love to try to do that behind a car and see how fast i could go. I know for a fact that it wouldnt be that fast though.

  • @HOPSING08 no you didnt that almost impossible for that to happen you have to be a pro so stop lying

  • @empiretotalwar1

No, Pro would be able to handle the bike through turns at speeds like that. But thats fine I weigh about 210lbs so getting to those speeds downhill arent impossible or pro, just scary

  • okay for all you haters....... HE'S CYCLING 140KM/PH!!!!!

  • he is a good track cyclist, and dutch sounds strange

  • btw, Theo Bos is one of the fastest pure cyclists on the planet, he can put crazy times on the 200m, 1km, and can ride road cycling just as fast

  • At this speed, a helmet won't help you much

  • Lolrofl as if! hes riding behind a car in the slip stream no one can do 140km on a flat with just there legs!

  • @tool5150 the can! with one of those kevlar covered recumbents. there is a video on utube about it. it even shows a guying crashing in one of those at 73 mph

  • Valencia is 100 times beter than real madrid, this is 100% sure

  • would he have gone faster on a tt bike?

  • @mcmarga Doubt it, since its so hard to ride with such high rpm especially on a tt bike. Balance wise

  • @hausken93 ahh, i see. i've yet to ride a tt bike, so i wouldnt know :/

  • cheat

  • I did this in 1978

    On a Raleigh Professional-

    On tubular tyres-

  • damn he is faast... i've never seen it before!!

  • OK, it might have been posted in another language, but just to reiterate... if Theo is pushing a 53x11 gear, with 175mm cranks, and 700c wheels on tubulars at, say, 83 mph (~133.6kmh)... his cadence would need to exceed 220 rpm.

  • @turn0265 but, what about the greatly decreased air resistance due to him beign so close to the vehicle in front????

  • @turn0265 which is something one could do, not very stable but quite possible given the right amount of balls

  • @turn0265 he is behind a car, therefore reducing drag

  • @turn0265 and? did you see how fast his legs were going

  • porka troia io nei dietro makkina vado a 50 km/h nn a 140 ... vbb dai sono li xd

  • He had his profit of the slipstream of the car, I'm sure he could have made the same speed without the car, but with a low-racer recumbent bike. Pity he didn't try that...

  • Needs more Gears

  • 86.99 mph

  • how fast is this in mph?

  • hed get a slipstream from the car

  • Wonder how the setup at cervelo will be next season, with hushovd, haussler and bos all accomplished sprinters. With the pace of bos and lancaster they could provide a decent lead-out for their main sprinter(most likely hushovd), that very well can challenge columbias hincapie-free train.

  • my maximum is 94, any way good performance, my congrats!

  • Comment removed

  • en dan vallen schuif je gelijk halve kilometer door...

  • I like all these people saying it's no big deal and trying to brag over the internet about how fast they can go. Either put a video up or shut up.

  • @ledheavy26

    Haha right on.

This guy is the world's fastest cycler in the Velodrome. If you armchair sportsmen are all so good, why not beat his world record?

I believe that more people can reach this speed on a bike, indeed he didn't look like he was trying really hard. Still, 140 on a bicycle is FREAKING FAST and may damn well kill you. In any case, what he did in the vid was a notable feat.

  • Fucking laugh if he crashed, stupid idea in the first place. My question here, is WHY would you even bother?

  • @thead4

    To be a badass.

  • Bit deal, a trained pro going down hill behind a car (Zero wind resistance) on a pro bike. He probably dident even have to peddle at all because of the hill and no wind..

  • me and my mt. bike with 26x2.3 and with aero bars with draft in a flat road can max of 50kph...

  • He was drafting the car. It makes it way easier to hold and reach high speeds, so he wasnt actually pedaling as much as you might think

  • my name is theon close to theo and im gona break his record some day its been my dream to become a cyclist when i fix up my mtb bike i can hit 35mph on the 14th gear when i get some new gears and get the bike tht cost $500 then i may be able to hit 50 im only 13 years old i ride my bike like my hole life untill it breaks lol

  • ergh...mediaplayer20, a bike that costs 500 dollars is really cheap.....and i mean really really cheap. Theo Bos's frame costs more than a few grand already. A single wheel can cost upwards of 2 grand...and he's riding on a fixed gear. 35 mph on a mtb is ridiculous, and damn near impossible on a flat.

  • @CappaDriver

Last I checked, you can't coast (or go that fast for that matter) on a fixed gear which is what Theo is doing in this video.

  • @CappaDriver

Uhm dude, 35 mph (on flat ground) on a normal mtb isn't very hard. You can go faster then that, about 40 mph.

Well okey it's hard as hell, you can't keep that speed for more then 3-4 seconds unless you're some sort of a superman, but it isn't impossible. You just gotta move the legs insanely fast. =D

  • very true dude, ive reached 32mph on a bmx! tiny chainring to

and 41 on a single speed mtb

was down a long slite slope but still i think its good for the bikes i was on

  • down a massive hill though...

  • @Invalidstyrkan Hate to reply to an old comment, but are you joking? Coz Cav can only just hit 40 on a road bike AND he's the best sprinter in the world and you're saying you can do it on a mountain bike? I'll believe it when I see it

  • @cerealrulz

Lol, I forgot to mention I'm a kind of hobby sprint runner, (I don't compete or anything, it's just a hobby that I take way too seriously.) I train sprint running alot and that's why I'm also fast on a bicycle. If you don't believe me, search for "power yeti" on YouTube and that's me running. And that wasn't even my top speed. =P

  • @Invalidstyrkan where's the video of you sprint running? All I see on your channel is two videos of moped racing.

  • He's riding a trail time bike. It's a free wheel. He was coasting in the video.

  • @MWF2GEEK

his not riding a tt bike.

  • lol dude, hahahahahaha keep trying mate, you will soon find out how hard it will be

  • that isn't impossible because he driving behind a car, so he's not slowed down bij air.

  • put a helmet on, or you'll die

  • @cerealrulz xD

  • ja twas bergaf :p

  • In the UK you cannot get a ticket on the road for speeding! You can only be busted for 'riding furiously'....lol

  • Crazy nutters :P

  • i want to see at least once how an bike man take an ticket for speed limit. This is gonna be so funny

  • haha echt grappig

  • he would be dead if he felll, auchh. but pretty impressive :)

  • esto es de broma no? es imposble cojer esa velocidad con una bicicleta

  • In the highest gear on your bike, you can turn your pedals up to 100/120 km/h.Downhill that is or behind a car.did it countless times myself in a race.you get used to it.

  • You can turn your pedals at 120km/h?

What ratio are you running? even at 54x11 you need a cadence of 260rpm to reach 100km/h!

  • Indeed, it seemed it was downhill, but still. turning the pedals wouldnt give any speed increase actually it would only slow it down on a racerbike like that.

  • 260 would be crazy as hell, i hit 212 once? medium gear bouncing like crazy. its a lot harder then people think to spin fast. that and it hurts like hell

  • @simonddavies with 16 inch wheels

  • Hardcore...watch this guy, olympic indoor champ goes road.faster them mcEwen or wiggins.Cavendish is toast.

  • Love the way Theo tackled this video. This guy is a big, a really big!

  • That would have been nasty if the car needed to slam his brakes on.

  • Great performance. I was only able to do 92 kph behind a trailer.. Well, trailers don't do more anyway :)

  • What is the point of drafting a car like that?

  • simple - You start training with Mini Coopers. Migrate to tackling Cadillac's. And before you know it, you are ready to tackle the GC.

  • It's the same as drafting another bike or cars drafting eachother. The one in front reduces the wind resistance the one behind needs to overcome. So drafting a car allows the rider to reach much higher speeds than they'd be able to if they were riding alone or with a team of other riders.

  • What I meant was -- what does it have to do with actual bike racing?

  • Well, nothing really, the thing in this video is just a speed thing.

  • I guess he was pedaling pretty damn fast at least

  • When you go downhill you should not be afraid of the high speed, this is a nice way to overcome your fear. Speedoflite1 is right!
