  • Theres another neat trick that can be done with this bottle+balloon setup. Blow up the balloon, and hold the bottle with a finger over the hole. If you fill the ballon with water, this water will be vigorously ejected when you uncover the hole. Stronger balloons are much better for this.

This can be used for practical jokes; if you hand this bottle to someone you can soak them.

  • The odd thing was, once you blew hard enough Mr. Wizard did get big.

  • Great tribute bro!! I really did well in Physics and Chemistry and I also was influenced by Mr. Wizard.

  • I admire what you did a lot. Great submission. I wish I'd seen this challenge last year when it was posted, I would have loved to participate.

  • That was cool. I am 44 and that just still gave me a child-like awe and wonder. I remember something like this where the guy pured liguid nitrogen into the baloon, it froze up in the bottle and then he poured the liquid back out leaving the frozen ballon in the bottle as if it was still full. What was cool was watching it thaw and slowly shrink. us kids laughed as the teacher keeped getting interupted by the thing shrinking.

  • it also makes a rockin' bong!

  • Careful not to leave the impression that gas is not compressible, like a fluid. If you had very powerful lungs, you could blow up the balloon without removing the tape... but the pressure might start to be too much for the bottle. Oh well, I know these are tedious details :P.

  • i loooooooooooooove science
