There is no proof. I wasn't a huge fan of either performer back then, but I recognized that Britney Spears was a hundred times the star that Timberlake was. Dating her is the best thing that ever happened to his career.

@vincentrich I honestly think that they were equally successful back then. Remember Nsync was KILLING the charts back then. they were selling way more than britney was back then. They were also internationally known b4 britney came out with BOMT. I think that being together together helped push them both to be honest. Being with Justin helped her career as much as being with her helped him.

I can remember Nsync and other boy-bands becoming popular, and it was clear that Justin Timberlake was the leading man in that category, but THERE'S NO WAY IN THE WORLD that he was/is even close to as popular as Britney Spears was/is. We can debate what it means to be "successful," but as far as the ability to draw, sell and have memorable performances, Britney Spears is a top dog. She could have dated anyone and made headlines during that time...can't say that about JT.

@GurlCaa ..she never cheated, Lance Bass outed Justin Timberlake a few years back and lying about the whole cheating thing to try and boost sales of his CD ..If you read Lance's book and search interviews with him you will see the truth behind the breakup and none of it was Britneys fault nor did she cheat..Justin should be ashamed of himself for what he did
