  • I found this 7" for $5...love it!

  • Computer eyes and digital, volume and tone control!

  • This sounds very different from the stuff Visage did a bit later. Almost has a Devo feel here!

  • i bought this the 1st day it came out on 45rpm import!!! i love it! shazam1059

  • great song..... turn it up...my bose love it

  • I heard the instrumental one but this one is fucking great, a dark wave classic! Was it made in 79'? He killed disco music and the 70´s with this kind of deep, introspective and paranoid songs! Sure that Clan of Xymox heard this song many times before composing

  • I can understand why this version has been all but forgotten - it leans toward punk (the same way the original Ultravox - with Jon Foxx as lead singer - did). The New Romantics were supposed to be dour and gentile, and detractors and fans alike prefer to remember slithering Euro-disco. However, I think songs/mixes like this show that NR had much more depth. Anyone also remember the Human League's Hard Times?

  • I bought this from John McGeoch's daughter who was selling off his stuff on eBay. R.I.P. John

  • Nice dark electro !

  • jit jit jit jit-jit-jit

  • yes, good shit!

  • Whoo hoo very early Visage haven't heard this for a long time. About time Steve Strange stop living the dream with Visage, he will never be able to create that sound again without the genius people behind it. As much as I love Steve, he's not the person he use to be.

  • YESSSSSSS!!!

  • futurismo oscuro

  • Hats off for uncovering this gem !!!

  • Thanks for posting this great song!!!

  • i had this song on tape followed by a song called DON`T STOP from a band called THE MOOD , it flowed so well you did not know the ending of one and the beginnihg of the other..

  • Ha, thats so wierd, I found my old box of 45s the other day, not played for 25 plus years and There was "Dont Stop' by the mood, in its black and white sleeve..." Dont stop dont stop dont stop it now"...you should be standing next to me"...great song

  • Man, I have been looking for this only forever! Glad to see it is up and going!!

  • Does anybody have the lyrics? lol

  • OMG!!! FANTASTIC!!!!!

  • great sound!!!! i love Visage!!!

  • ha not heard this little gem for a while.bought this in 1980 and still have.any chance you could post the A-side Tar ?

    thanks for posting,Zig.

  • The version of Tar on this 7" is very slightly different to the one available on the Best Of cd.

I can't pinpoint how, but it's certainly different.

  • This is the original version - a b-side from the original debut-single release of 'Tar'. The 'Frequency 7' available on the CD is a so-called 'dance mix' which is instrumental and a bit slower. This one is much much more chaotic as the song progresses :) I think this one is a typical tribute to David Bowie (there's a line in the song saying 'Life on Mars' or something...)... And this is definitely their most experimental track. Awesome.

  • Cheers for your reply but I was referring to Tar, not Frequency 7.

The album version sounds more polished than the single mix, probably just slightly remixed. Notable mostly in the sax part.

  • Yep, the 7" version of 'Tar' is almost 'mono' plus there are tiny little differences in the mix - or should I say, it sounds a bit more like recorded in the room, 'live-like' :)... The debut album's version of 'Tar' is definitely more polished. Cheers and sorry for the confusion :)

  • wow! thx for putting this up never heard it before

  • OH MY GAWD!!!... What is this version??????? I only have the slower instrumental version. This mix is just mind blowing. It's SO futuristic and underground, this is literally killing me. Absolute chills, where can I get this version?

Thank You very much for letting my ears and my whole being to be exposed to this mix.

    A+ A+ A+ A+ A+

    **************

  • I have this single, selling it now....

  • Comment removed

  • @TrainmasterCurt fade to grey is 1980

  • @fuckamericanidiot Yes, that comment is old, I do know that they started in 1978

  • Awesome man, cheers!

  • What an outstanding track. I got this on ebay a few years ago, it's without a doubt my most prized Visage vinyl (hey, we're ALL still looking for the 12" of Der Amboss)!

I really respect the Dance mix of Frequency 7, but this original version should have been included on the first album. It's shocking that it's not even on any best of collection (even the Master Series cd).

Cheers for the upload, hopefully now this track will get the recognition it deserves.

  • Google 'soulseek guide' and read it so you know how its works - it is a lot safer than limewire and it is very fast (As long as you download from someone with a high bandwidth) plus you need to share tracks to gain respect among the users - once you get set up with your username tell me it in a private mail in Discogs and i will add you then you can download rare stuff from me, as well as talking on the chat rooms!!

  • @Jarren202

I agree, why this is not featured on ANY Visage cd is beyond me.

This should have been added on the CD version of the debut CD album. This version is SO much better than the Dance mix. Absolute GENIUS!

  • @TheNouveauxdecadence Tell me about it! I spoke about this also on my review of the new best of album "The Face" over on Discogs.

2010 and still no digital master...

  • @Jarren202 I'm guessing it's something to do with the Tar single being released on a different early record label (Radar Records?)
