how much does it cost? I wanna do something like this in life! I'm so sick of my boring friends asking me to go to their house, smoke pot and watch tv. screw them! i wanna do something!
This looks fantastic!!! I really really want to go do this just getting a group and the cash, although the Irish red cross are doing a charity hike up it in september so i may try and jump on that bandwagon!
Great video and nice music! Kilimanjaro will be my next climb :) Dit year i climbed Mt. Elgon in Uganda. My first climb in Africa. A great experiance. I realy respect those portars who carried our bags..
Great Video. I climbed this in March 2008. I just wish you Americans would convert to metric. This "Feet" business is out of date. You know it makes sense! Anyway, well done!
actually I could find where to buy this music only in Tanzania and in Kenya...anyway the name of the second song is "jambo bwana", it was written by Teddy Kalanda Harrison and the group is Them Mushrooms. if you're still interested I can try to find also something about the others songs. sorry for my english;)
Just got back from climbing Kili. 27 of 30 summited with 4 others slugging out a tough battle to get to the top. It isn't easy and the effort and disappointment in the eyes of the 3 that didnt' summit was shattering.
Me and my brother are climbing Kili in about 10 months time. As someone whose just climbed it, what perspective do you offer on the ones that didn't summit? I get that your sympathetic toward them, (and fair enough after their efforts) but did they strike you initially as the type that probably wouldn't make it? Did it surprise you when they didn't? I'm not being an asshole, I'm genuinely curious. Usually in physically challenging environments, you can spot the ones you don't expect will succeed
Unfortunately there is no way to tell. Statistically, altitude sickness hits tall, phisically fit, white males more than any other group. Our one person was an 18 year old female. You just never know. If you are coming from the States and can get your hands on Roctane, the new endurance gel from GU Sports, I highly recommend taking some over. It will serve you well. Good luck!

i just climbed kili about a month ago
it was incredible, one person got sick with edema and had to go down, hes better now
about an hour from the summit, we pass this guy who's being helped down and is stumbling a bit
the guy behind him tells us that the guy being carried just died 15 feet from the summit and his heart stopped beating but hsi wife survived him

that's why the "metric" system is called International System of Measurement; at least that's what I learned at school in 5t or 8th grade
