I am very proud to say that he is from my hometown of Belmont, MS!!!!:) I actually got to see him today at the unveiling of a plaque that they put up for him at our local park..He sang and told stories of the many memories that he has from growing up here..It was a great day for us all here in Belmont!!!!:)
Mac is in the Coral Reefer Band. Only reason people do not know about him is because he is over shadow with his work with the Coral Reefer Band. Mac is actually in hall of fame because of his writing. He is great in concert as well.

McAnally is a songwriter's songwriter and has written TONS of material he recorded then others covered. He was the first artist on Geffen records. I wish everyone would check him out. He is an amazing performer, a superlative writer, and an American treasure.
Mac and Kenny DID the original version. Mac was the second voice doing the 'daughter's dad' part. He's by no means underrated by those who know country. But he's always been a writer and producer first, and a performer second. By choice. But I agree. Like other writer producers (Skip Ewing ring a bell?) he's amazingly talented...

This is the 3rd time I've heard this song by a diff artist lol I like the Restless Heart version ( then again they still are my fav group) but this is def way better than the Kenny Chesney version.
Mac is amazing. One of the best songwriters of his generation, and outside of us Parrotheads, no one knows a lot about him.

I hate when a later remake gets more attention because it's by a "bigger name" singer. Mac puts real feeling into this song, Kenny just sings it.
