I bought my lmf II knife for the same price that the BK2 sells for, and I bought it brand spankin new. However I am looking to get a Bk2 As well. I was just saying earlier that there are other knives out there besides Ka bars.

But, after I got interested in the video and watched, I considered that perhaps he has a personal reason ,or has some scarring on his face that he doesn't think would add to, or is relevant to his experiment. that spear head looks more like a slashing spear than a stabing spear, I'm not surprised it bent when it hit the brick. I mean think about the physical structure of the targets cardboard and wood both have strand-like structuresthat make it easy for the point to penetrate, the watermelon needs no comment, but brick has no set structure other than being dense, this brick just so happened to have a weak point that curved left.

not that anyone on youtube watching any of these videos lives near or will ever run into a bear that wont just run away from them but on the .01% chance someone will there is also about a .01% chance that having any knife with them in a holster will make any difference of the outcome. This is coming from someone who has been around alot of bears, black and griz. But i guess, if it helps you sleep at night.
Noss, I'm writing this from FOB Echo in southern Iraq. As an advisor and trainer to the Iraqi Police & Army, I use knives every day and find your tests to be very informative and fitting to the things we do or have had to do with our knives. Gun safe queens and sock drawer superstars do not impress us and we have done this long enough to know the price does not always equal performance outside the wire. Ignore the FOBBITS. I'd love to see how the Boker Plus 440C knives do in your test. Out.

In Indonesia, in the 80's I went around the jungle in Sumatra and carried a knife about the size of this thing, and could tie it in a second to the 5 feet blowpipe I had bought to a local jungle bamboo blowpipe maker. Good against a middle size to big size animal, I never had to use it, but felt safe going about with it. For aggressive humans, a machette was enough, and your eyes do the difference....you are strong or you look weak, the mask doesnt help.

First of all: You don't even compare the penetrating power with another weapon, so how am I going to know that the same result will not happen if I fired a huge rock from a 30 PSI air cannon?
Second: You used the same spear, so you're now using a different quality of blade because it blunted.
@Wombleonastick If the tests were solely about chuckin' spears. Check out Noss's site and judge it based on ALL of the tests. Look, if you've been burned buying knives then you can appreciate the work that goes into these tests. A good knife should be good quality steel that can endure some serious pounding. Sure you can get all crazy with the testing and break it down into graphs and pie charts but in the end it's testing that separates the good from the bad. This is just one kind of test.
@Commentboy5000 Also, I have purchased MANY knives and have had MANY fail doing simple tasks they SHOULDN'T have failed at. It is crazy when you take several knives and have a broad spectrum of results when you test them on the same piece of wood, concrete, steel, whatever. Why not have these tests? I like knowing that my knife can punch through an oil drum (proven) and still cut effectively or be easily sharpened back to shape. As Noss stated before, its a stress test and its fun. Lighten up.

Very good testing. Great idea to use a standard PSI measurement with a cannon and to use varying amounts of plywood and a brick as a test of strength/durability. I'm thinking about grabbing one of these, so your video definitely helps.
When I was tapping my Bushman onto a rattan staff the blade went through 2 phone books and sunk about a third of the length into the floor. It took me nearly 45 min to get it unstuck. While the finish was marred (but not scratched), the edge was still razor sharp and the blade unbent. This is a very sturdy piece.
I realise you're not testing the cannon, but I'd like to see this done outside to see what kind of range you get. On target, of course. To blazes with "chunkin' punkins"!
The Cannon is used as a control for this experiment, the human body isn't going to give the same strength to a throw all the time, 35 psi will always be 35 psi, and will always give the same amount of power to a 'throw'.
The third test is a jaw-dropper. I have a Bushman myself and I've heard they're tough - but THAT tough?! Only the tip bent and the shaft broken, a bit out of shape, but nothing else. (Luckily, it's unlikely that i would fire that thing from an air cannon.)

First of all: You don't even compare the penetrating power with another weapon, so how am I going to know that the same result will not happen if I fired a huge rock from a 30 PSI air cannon?
Second: You used the same spear, so you're now using a different quality of blade because it blunted.

@Wombleonastick If the tests were solely about chuckin' spears. Check out Noss's site and judge it based on ALL of the tests. Look, if you've been burned buying knives then you can appreciate the work that goes into these tests. A good knife should be good quality steel that can endure some serious pounding. Sure you can get all crazy with the testing and break it down into graphs and pie charts but in the end it's testing that separates the good from the bad. This is just one kind of test.

@Commentboy5000 Also, I have purchased MANY knives and have had MANY fail doing simple tasks they SHOULDN'T have failed at. It is crazy when you take several knives and have a broad spectrum of results when you test them on the same piece of wood, concrete, steel, whatever. Why not have these tests? I like knowing that my knife can punch through an oil drum (proven) and still cut effectively or be easily sharpened back to shape. As Noss stated before, its a stress test and its fun. Lighten up.

3. I didn't even ask for one graph, I asked for a visual comparison of how a brand new blade of one brand copes compared to another brand new blade of another brand.

Do the knife companies give these to you for testing or do you pay out large amounts of your own money just to show that you have to fire it out of a howitzer to break or dent it? why not show how good they are in normal use and then you can keep it after or give it as a present instead of breaking it!

Very good testing. Great idea to use a standard PSI measurement with a cannon and to use varying amounts of plywood and a brick as a test of strength/durability. I'm thinking about grabbing one of these, so your video definitely helps.

When I was tapping my Bushman onto a rattan staff the blade went through 2 phone books and sunk about a third of the length into the floor. It took me nearly 45 min to get it unstuck. While the finish was marred (but not scratched), the edge was still razor sharp and the blade unbent. This is a very sturdy piece.

The Cannon is used as a control for this experiment, the human body isn't going to give the same strength to a throw all the time, 35 psi will always be 35 psi, and will always give the same amount of power to a 'throw'.

The third test is a jaw-dropper. I have a Bushman myself and I've heard they're tough - but THAT tough?! Only the tip bent and the shaft broken, a bit out of shape, but nothing else. (Luckily, it's unlikely that i would fire that thing from an air cannon.)
