  • @RiotNoobs: Apparently not in Australia! :P

  • Such a sweet song

  • 2:03 <333

  • a) I wish I could play piano like that b) I wish I could write songs like this c) I wish I could play and sing with an orchestra !!!

  • 3 people hate real music.

  • I wonder who did the orchestration for this version?

  • LOL...who would dislike this masterpiece??? Probably my ex-girlfriend. She's a bitch...

  • Honestly, it kills me to see such talent like Ben Folds be unseen or unheard of. He deserves the spotlight more than these other musicians who auto-tune and basterdize their work with producers. Ben Folds is a one man show, and he praticly pisses excellence. Anyone who disagrees can go play with a loaded gun.

  • BEN FOLDS IS THE MOST UNDERRATED MUSICIAN IN THE WORLD. THIS ENRAGES ME AGH.

  • @RiotNoobs he's not really under rated he's pretty well known

  • Wd the duckpond near the stage account for the numbers of flying insects buzzing around BFs head during this performance? Of course diehard Spiritualists wd tell you he was surrounded by 'spirit orbs' during this performance - not flying insects...

  • @slessorpr : the insects are probably flies since this dweeb probably hasn't washed his hair or brushed his teeth in a week

  • @drumhead1960 Do I sense some mild ambivalence there toward the great BF, drumhead? Careful or they'll brand you a heretic!

  • The story of my life... :(

  • he's a genious. and extremely underrated. ugh... music today frustrates me to no end.

  • If I were half as good a musician as Ben Folds, I would feel awesome about myself.

  • I LOVE this song. Such moving lyrics! He's such an underrated musician. It's amazing how he can make songs like this, and also be so silly as well.

  • The bass solo at 2:02 makes me cry inside with happiness

  • press 6 over and over :p

  • press 5 over and over :p

  • so much better than august rush

  • Perfect song to have a symphony back him up. I always thought this song should get an award for the Best Use of an Inordinately Large Number of Sounds.

  • I just entered a musical coma. Don't wake me up.

  • How he continually plays the piano like that AND sings even ON KEY at all (which he does better than most people I have heard) Is dumbfounding. This guy is pretty stinking awesome.

  • definitely better than any ben folds definite hero go flannel

  • @skaitup66

i'm willing to say he's better than elton john and billy joel.

  • Not to mention he is actually very well known, and does very well. He plays with orchestra.

  • He may not be super popular, but at least we're lucky enough to know about him and support him

  • "Yeah it SUUUUUUCCCCKKKKKSSSS"

  • 2 people have kissed justin bieber !

  • 2 people are the man

  • 2 persons are real life Stans

  • Honestly I have to say that I think Ben Folds is a better musician than both Elton John and Billy Joel, and those two are two of the best musician/songwriters/performers ever! So what does that say about Mr. Folds. He's not near as popular, but when it comes to pure talent and skill at piano, he's just as good if not better!

  • @Liles1zc he's just as good of a pianist but he doesn't have the voice of Joel or John imo

  • @claaark0 Yes that's true, Ben Folds does have a very Unique voice that definitely deviates from the 'norm' of popular music. Perhaps that's why he's not more popular than he is. Either way, I agree with you that Folds can not compare to John or Joel (specially Elton) vocally, but It's a fact that Ben Folds deserves more recognition than he gets.

  • @Liles1zc Ben Folds isn't more popular because he's never had big hit songs to be released as singles. Rockin The Suburbs isn't an especially great song. And I know there have been plenty of other good songs. But it's also the time we live in. Elton John and Billy Joel rose to popularity in the 70's not today. Today can really suck.

  • @MpBrianMay Brick was a huge song. I'd put it down to poor choices of singles for the albums after that. True, rockin the suburbs was annoying as hell, The the entire album that "The Ascent of Stan" comes from is amazing, just poorly marketed

  • @claaark0 His timbre may not be there, but you can't deny he's a great singer. He hits all the right notes, he never over-embellishes and he can sing like this while playing (usually) more complex piano than Elton John or Billy Joel.

    Dude's got serious talent.

  • YEAAA IT SUUUUUUUUUUCKS....classic ben folds

  • So great!!!

  • ben folds is the coolest guy in the world

  • The melody of this song is marvelous and chilling. One of the best musician who can have the priviledge to have his music played by a symphony orchestra

  • he deserves the full orchestra

  • 0:30 epic face

  • divine

  • I didn't know Andy Bernard/Stu from The Hangover played cello @ 2:04

    :P

  • once you wanted revolution now you're the institution..

     beware those lines.

  • This is so epic!!:)

  • He has nice teeth. And a nice voice. And nice piano-playing skills. Just pretty much: NICE! Ben Folds is great.

  • god. so. so. so. talented. <3

  • Know what? I'm Seventeen. I'm in the age group that SHOULD like the freaks that we call 'stars' of today. Britney, Ke$ha, etc. But I don't. I like Ben Folds. I like Carbon Leaf. I like GOOD music.

  • you're not the only one :P neither am I

  • @scottishxplay i totally know what your saying and im with you but you have to think about what you said the age group that "should" like the freaks do any of your friends not like any music like this case i know if i showed this to 100 of my friends theyd be in love

  • @scottishxplay Greetings from Germany! Feel the same way as you do. :]

  • the symphony makes this song extremely trippy - I like it haha

  • @2010, That's so true... I would totally have a crush on him if he were a chick...

2:42 I rather liked the cymbal

  • wish i could get this version of the song on a CD or ipod

  • Hmm I would love to. I might rip the audio off the DVD and put it on my iPod now.

(All legal, I own the DVD)

  • @tikalal dont worry about the sound i have it on my ipod and it sound fine

  • is this on dvd?

  • Yeah, its on Ben Folds and WASO: Live In Perth... Really good dvd, shame you cant get it on CD :(

  • @NeoSync05 don't lie to the man, of course there is a cd.

  • @NeoSync05 Iam from germany and wanna buy this dvd but it´s not avaible in germany -.-. that´s creepy

  • @ZadorBador versuch es mal bei amazon. ich habe die dvd letztes wochenende bestellt. kommt direkt aus den USA.

  • I was at this performance. It was so good the first night, my brother and I decided to go back for the second. Good thing too because we were treated to a kickass "Rock This Bitch" which included the whole orchestra.

  • "It Suuuucks!!!" (not this song, lol)

  • also, why cant we get this on CD???

  • Rockin' The Suburbs...

  • I am seeing Ben with the Seattle Symphony tomorrow night. This is my FAVORITE song of his. I hope he plays it!

  • 0:19 JEFF DUNHAM! hahah

  • I kiiiiiilllllllll youuuuuu. :P

  • i think the reason he isn't more popular is because his music is just different

  • @nesketty I'm sure his music would be more popular if he was a skinny white chick.

2:22 "I'm part of the WASO" What part? "The shaker thingy..."

2:42 I think the cymbal doesn't sound very well there that loud.

    3:36 Sick mallets.

  • @2010profile

im pretty sure no one cares about your opinions

  • What? I just said he would be more popular if he was a skinny white chick, like most of the modern "artists" like Britney Spears, Ke$ha, etc.

  • I don't understand why Ben Folds isn't more popular. He's defifnitely one of the best muscians alive. Comparable to billy joel and elton john.

  • I agree, skaitup. I think it might be his cursing. While it doesn't particularly bother me, it's off putting to a lot of people. But you can't argue with his talent. I agree that his biting satire that my generation (I'm 24) values might arguably make him the Elton John of my generation. I would also argue that the boom of rap and hip hop in the last two decades has deadened people's ability to appreciate quality music, but that's me. :)

  • I would put Ben up against just about anyone.

  • @skaitup66 EXACTLY what I've been saying!!!!!

  • @skaitup66 he was born in the wrong time. it's unfortunate

  • @skaitup66 Billy joel and Elton are genius's and have written ALOT of songs.......... they also dont' need to swear in thier songs to be good... neither does ben folds.. but more of his songs would be played on the radio if they didn't have swearing in them... Dug his own grave there

  • @JuzzyQld thats bull. think of all the swearing in rap music

  • @skaitup66 I think although you don't hear his music on the radio very much, he's still a well respected musician amongst those who have that background.

  • @skaitup66 No disrespect to Billy or Elton because they're great, but Ben Folds is better. Feels weird saying that...but it's true...

  • wow, I love the orchestral arrangements... can't WAIT to see him with the Minnesota Orchestra this Halloween!!

  • man the piano in this song is so haunting

  • wooooooooooooooooooop

  • ben folds is truly one of the best musicians alive

  • love the faces he makes on the high notes. :P :D

  • The piano is gorgeous!!!!!

  • i love this song.

  • This just affirms my love for Ben Folds (and Australia!) that much more. :)

  • i love this song

  • Comment removed

  • ...bugs? dust catching light? not sure how this is indicative of australia, but then again I've never been there...

  • definitely the flies. THEY'RE EVERYWHERE. AAAHH.

  • It's being performed outside. Insects flying around are indicative of being on planet earth.

  • i have this DVD - never gets old

  • 1:49 - 1:55 you can definitely tell this is in Australia. See if you know why :)

  • Oh wow, just wow.

  • awesome fucking music

  • 1:42

    the piano is magical

    I LOVE BEN FOLDS!!

    What a Musical Genius

  • I LOVE how he ended that. He doesn't get caught up in how cool it is to be a GD virtuoso playing with a great orchestra. He just says "yeah, it sucks". What a great guy. Ben Folds is the man.

  • You have to wonder how a full orchestra feels playing behind a guy in a flannel shirt.

  • Hahaha

  • @711groove How do you think the orchestra who scored "Howard The Duck" felt?

  • @711groove hes not just a guy in a flannel shirt, hes a god in a flannel shirt

  • *tears* so beautiful!

we are truly blessed. really. he is beyond talented. actually, talented doesn't even COVER it. like talented is a word for amateurs. he's...amazing!

  • what an an ignorant thing to say

  • That's for sure!

  • Dipshit.

  • Ben Folds is love

Ben Folds with orchestras is love plus love

    amazing

  • god... how is this guy such a fucking badass!!!! fucking awsome

  • whos stan?

  • wow that was great "HOW"S it Feel to Be the man"

  • cool version!

  • This is a very cool version of this song. Orchestras just enhance music so much.
