Falwell and Robertson are idiots, and religion is foolish, but you have to be coming from a pretty morally depraved place not to see that it is perfectly logical in principle to argue that adults who will not defend innocent life might be made to pay for that crime with their own lives, as by their inaction in defense of the innocent they have made themselves guilty as accomplices to murder. The secular state kills people ALL THE TIME on these grounds.
