Roentgen discovered x-rays, using a Crooke's tube invented by William Crooke. William Coolidge made the first modern x-ray tube, then called a Coolidge Tube. Edison developed the first fluoroscope (early x-ray machine), and one of his researchers became the first person to die from x-ray exposure.
Roentgen named his discovery x-rays, only after his death did people start to refer to them as Roentgen rays.
What's the point of the story? Fluoroscopy and digital fluoro aren't new!
Thomas Edison brought many of these technologies to the U.S. and had to patten them in the process. The problem is that today's journalists don't research enough. But I have noticed all my life that when I saw or read a story that I knew about, it was usually full of errors.
Timothy Dayton: His job is to make sure that his company has to pay as LITTLE as possible to get you better.. Higher premiums, less coverage! That's the American way!
Thomas Edison did not invent the X-ray machine! It was Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen from Germany, in 1890. But it tells me alot about american journalists..
