Wow... This is a very serious issue and it's sad to read some of the comments below. To the people who think this topic is a joke, I recommend at least doing some research before passing judgment.
Great video, Maria. Negligible senescence can't be too far off. Longevity escape velocity will be within reach before 2030 I think.
If we understand that we are not matter then what are we doing here? Do we belong to a different reality? Have we forgotten our true identity? These are the questions to be asked, not live in denial or fight the impossible. Seek and ye shall find!
I am not "preaching" to you but what I said made sense to me personally when I heard them and I thought I would share it. Anyway, good luck to you!
We all want to be immortal because in reality we are immortal, it's only the outer covering that's wearing off but we still feel young, in reality "we", the essence that dwells within never gets old. Just imagine a situation where you are stripped of matter and given a body made of anti-matter that never ages! Is such thing ever possible? Think about it, our bodies are constantly changing, but we are still the same person, there is something that tells me I am not this body. Think about it!
Nah im joking Maria you are fuckin hot! and I am sure you are an awesome human being and I know you are reading this but I do not mean any of the stuff I said that you might take personally. I am sure you are smart enough to know that Internet comments, especially on youtube cannot be taken seriously, which this 8legsfreak moron doesn't understand.
But I do not think ageing can ever be fought, it can probably be postponed but nature of matter is such, its bound to disintegrate sooner or later.
@spyk316 Dude, this is a classy slavic woman. Why would she want to make a sandwich for a basement dwelling neckbeard? Her response would be probably something like: "No, my good man, Im not making you a sandwitch. YOU, will go and fetch me some champagne and caviar." And you would do it without thinking.
Oooooooh the Internet Police is here. Fuck off, you are a retard to have actually replied to that troll comment of mine, Mr all too sensitive fucking douche bag.
And yes I would definitely fetch her some Champagne and Caviar without thinking coz she's smoking hot!
@spyk316 You're still "trolling"? What is this 2007? Trolling is so yesterday. Besides, I would understood if you were trolling some christian douchebags, or moronic andvertisement, but this is a smokin hot chick talking about freakin immortality. How awesome is that? And you still get the urge to troll? With a lame ass "make me a sandwich" meme? C'mon, you're better than that.
Oh yeah I forgot to check with you, captain douche what's "new" and the "in-thing" before posting. You are an absolute fucking retard if you think some dumb blonde (a given) though freakin hot talking about immortality is not moronic. This is as bad as religious fundamentalism, talking utter bullshit. I would love to see her in 20 yrs time.
Matter is disintegrating as we speak, really she should go back to ironing.
People who say death is a good thing are just rationalizing. If they had a choice of living for 1000 years, could they honestly say they would not take that option?
I believe that option is very near in the future. Researchers at the Mayo Clinic have already extended the health-span of mice into old age. It is just a matter of time until this is applied to humans.
@Nightmonkey17 To me it's also surprising, however, most people say they don't want to like for 1000 years and they are being honest. They start talking about overpopulation and that it'd be boring to live and other irrational things. All these arguments serve as a defense mechanism of mind against the terrifying thoughts about death.
I agree, Maria - that neverageing is possible - IF disease conditions can be eliminated and prevented - but at the moment I can only see the powerful forces of Nature being able to do this. I love science too, but mainly to help provide info, and help me harness these natural energies - to address all the root causes of disease. I am grateful that I have been presented with this timely solution to the ageing process. I am continully feeling and looking better. I am the one who is happy.
@metubeinfo That's the point - to identify all the intrinsic causes of aging and hence, other diseases. However, I have to disagree with you about the power of nature being the main 'healer'. It's not, it's the collective human intelligence that is interfering with the body and making you feel better. A simple example - antibiotics. Despite the fact that quite a lot of them occur naturally, we couldn't be so successfully fighting diseases without synthetic drugs.
@xgeronimo005 No, I don't sell anything. I work for a non-profit, Science for Life Extension Foundation and I am arguing for scientific research aimed at defeating aging.
''Right now our lives are full of disease, pain, misery and suffering, disappointment [and] in the end we all die.''
Yet people keep breeding and passing these things on from one generation to the next until we all die and eventually our species goes extinct. Irrational emotionally driven animals. The heat death of the universe will finish DNA off or whatever we might become even if we somehow miraculously manage to travel the 25 trillion miles needed to get to the nearest solar system.

Also, on the subject of overpopulation/scarcity, people trend to forget to consider advances that will be happening in parallel in different fields.

@spyk316 so tell me, mister scientist, whats so moronic about that? just out of curiosity, do you have any real arguments or just general negativism?
BTW, matter is not disintegrating, you ass. Thats phisically impossible. Matter and energy are indestructible and only change state.
