The relationship between map and buckets could have been communicated wordlessly if they were not so intent on proving the importance of language. At least as easily as wordlessly explaining the desired action. Of course, talking is quicker than showing, once the underlying linguistic skills have developed.

That "YEAH" for getting it "wrong" turned my stomach, though, and the boy looked immediately confused, knowing, perhaps that Kermit was not in a bucket.

The uniquely human cognitive faculty that she indirectly refers to is CONCEPT formation and ABSTRACTION. One can teach a chimp sign language, it doesn't make him a human being. The character "James Bond" is not any particular man named James Bond. It is not Roger Moore or Sean Connery. That form of "symbolism" is what makes us uniquely human. Language is an effect or our ability to create concepts and abstract, not the cause! So is art! Except maybe abstract art. That is mostly garbage! ;o)
