aside from the obligatory placement of the nutra-sweet yet dull Pulliam, this is an otherwise stellar project. I am more suprised it doesn't get resold into syndication; it is a rare gem-- from an afro-centric film studies perspective, to a beautiful, powerful catalogue of music, to an aestheticly charming peroid piece fairy tale. Debbie Allan deserves more credit, and should have garnered more work with NBC from this-- it's a shame. But we should be grateful for this masterpiece

I remember crying 21 years ago watching this and then going to school the next day and talking about it with my friends in 5th grade. We were all like "did you cry at the end? I did! You did too?! OMG!" I also love Harold Wheeler's musical arrangement of Joel McNeely's score to this scene.

Disney does have it on dvd. The only way you can get it is by joining their Movie Club, which is wrong. I think someone should put up a blog on the site and let Disney know that they should sale it in the stores (at least during Black History Month).
