@honie1008 On May 16, 201, the last hotel guest checked out of the Sahara Hotel & Casino; the doors were officially closed at 2:00PM, ending a 59-year run on the Strip. A hotel liquidation sale began on June 16th of all items inside the property & continued until the property was completely empty; final day of the sale was September 4th. On November 2, 2011the Clark County Commission approved renovations of the hotel casino. The property will be remodeled, rethemed, renamed & reopened.

The scale of this stretch of road is just hard to imagine until you visit. Crazy stat is there are 3 hotels that each have more rooms than there are in Downtown Houston. Also, the largest hotels in most major cities are in the 1500-2000 room range. The new part of the strip alone has 27 hotels over 2000 rooms.
