Carmen can't be replaced. That phrasing and tone are just too much. I wish I'd been into her in the 80's. However she died when I was like 10 or 12. Dang.

I love Carmen and this is my favorite version of the song, but New Faces was in 52, not 55 and the "somebody else" who sang it was June Carroll, who also wrote it. Hello, David, if you ever watch these things. We were in the D.U. together a couple of centuries ago.

This is amazing to see Carmen have that tight phrasing and control. and this is 1990 What year did she do the Sarah Vaughan tribute album? I know shortly after that she passed away.

"Dedicated to You" was released in 1990. Sarah Vaughan passed in 1989.

No Sarah died in 1990, I saw her LIVE in 1989 in Boston, and a year later she died. Dedicated to You must have been shortly thereafter.

you are so right. I remember I learned of her death when i was coming back from France. I was thinking it was a trip in 1989, but I was there in 1990 as well. I think it was in late May or early June.
