  • I think I'm falling in love with this band.

  • REM and the Decemberists have been made obsolete.

  • These guys are awesome!

  • 21 people never Pulled on a line before.

  • best contemporary song i've heard in a while!

  • Just like the video for Blue Rodeo's "Hasn't Hit Me Yet", this video is proof that a fantastic video can be made for a fantastic song, without having to spend huge amounts of dough. VERY well done, everyone.

  • These guys are sooooooo good! They give me goosebumps! I can't wait to see them tonight!!!!!! :)

  • Ah simply beautifull :)

  • Great song, yet ripe for parody: "[I'm just] Trolling Online..." HA!

  • who can dislike this video?

  • listening to these a lot lately

  • 1:00 Slenderman!!

  • I love, love, love The Great Lake Swimmers. All of their albums are fantastic. Very beautiful and melodic songs. I can't wait to see them live.

  • Really like this. When I moved from Europe I expected all the music to be shite, and well, it was. But hearing this makes me ecstatic!! Love it, fuckin love it!

  • ...you know, its kinda embarassing to ask this but....what does the song lyrics mean, I mean, what does the song mean???? I'm actually curious about it.

It's a great song but when you don't understand what it means, it feels as if I'm just listening for its tune and not for the whole song. Please, anyone can help???

  • A similar band from the UK are called FOSSIL COLLECTIVE - they have a great video on youtube called ON & ON - go check it out and support new alternative music . xx

  • @rebeccajone395486 so amazing is the song "Without A Fight" ;))) p.s. their former name was "Vib Gyor"

  • I'm so annoyed I didn't find them sooner. But I can't stayed annoyed for too long. Their music won't let me. It's too calming. And amazing.

  • @tennisgurl206 i totally agree just put it on repeat and you'll be asleep in no time lol

  • harikasın!.. Great!

  • Absolutely love you guys. Please come to ottawa!!

  • sounds like REM

  • @albacorian And Midlake.

  • @salambo31 and minus story

  • this band is the image people should think of when they hear "Canada"

    fuck Justin Bieber.

  • @0MGZz i wish i could 'tumbs up' your comment 100000 more!! :)

  • @0MGZz Seriously shut the fuck up about Justin Bieber. Nobody actually cares about him. In fact I didn't even know he was Canadian before you piped up. Just shut the fuck up. It's not funny.

  • i absolutely love this song, but i absolutely HATE the chorus. the chorus just ruins such a perfect song for me

  • @wagonfactor really? the chorus fits so well and it's catchy i love the transition between the two

  • Wow!!! Great song...

  • They should add a confused button next the like and dislike buttons

  • Why didn't you DEINTERLACE that video??? Strange... Don't tell me that you used it as an ART-EFFECT....

  • Come over a do some gigs in UK

  • The fiddler stayed in my house about a month ago.. she's my cousin's girlfriend. :) :)

  • I like this very mucho

  • I love the east coast Canadian accent on the vocals! Great song, Great record!

  • Just take a look at npr website there is a good mini acoustic set just love it.

  • This band is GREAT!!!!! I bought their last CD Because I like the Golden Eagle on the cover! Man was I pleasantly surprised how good the music was!

  • EdwardLeeGee - sure is a lot nicer to listen to (I mean really listen to - lyrics and melody) than most of the C-(RAP) masquerading as music these days. I dunno, maybe I am getting old or something, but I want to listen to music that doesn't lionize criminals and criminal/violent behavior.

  • If they toured New Zealand I'd so be there! Fantastic band, beautiful music - what's not to love :)

  • The Great Lake Swimmers are so awesome!!

  • This is the most wholesome and uplifting song I've heard in a long time. Me likes this a lot.

  • Waait wait... Did I see Eric Forrester?

  • Great Lake Swimmers are so good!!! Very reminiscent of old R.E.M.

  • They were awesome on the Juno's.

  • this is great!

  • what genre is this?

  • @fronij folk/rock

  • these guys are putting on a free show in my city.

    are you kidding? free?

  • The verses just stick with you, with the beautiful harmonizing. So, so wonderful . . .

  • i love this song but the part where he goes "im just pullin on a line on a line..." i dont really care for... yeah im weird i know hahah:) but i still love the song

  • Grate!!!! :-)

  • I LOVEEEE canadian hippy music :DDDDDD

  • ots not hippy msuic >:(

  • I don;t care if it's hippy music or not - I like it!

  • @tprdfh51 but it's not hippy music

  • @ ipodguru12

This isn't hippy music this is alternative rock

  • me too

  • its amazing all the music talent coming from canada these days it seems like there are more popular canadian bands these days then american

    Go Canada

  • @hellobrun And movie comedies, and actors. And they also beat US at decorating shows and kids shows. Seriously, just turn on HGTV

  • I will say it honestly, I really like this song. First heard it on Hockey night in canada, lol- nice replacement for the old hnic theme-which lets face it was a product of what , the fifties? time for an update and showcasing actually good canadian music is a great idea.

  • this guy's great

  • awesome songg!!(:

  • Thank you Great Lake Swimmers.... Cheers to cleaner water!

  • the focusing of the cinematography is interesting.

  • good song

  • @Fuzzyblankey :D good name

  • thanks

  • in soviet russia, line pulls on you!

  • so many great bands come from canada these days this one included

    such a catchy tune

  • @ hellobrun

there are a lot of great bands from Canada lately, about 6 years ago Billy Talent, and look at how far they've gotten by playing in about 6 countries in Europe including the U. K. It really makes me proud to be a Canadian!!!

  • @hellobrun Its like the 60's and 70's music scenes all over again ahaha

  • @hellobrun I was amazed to find that Great Lake Swimmers originated so close to where I live -- I was quite happy!

  • @Inkblot1218 yeah theres alot of good bands out there these days that are from canada im from Hamilton

  • @hellobrun So true. Who could ever forget the sophisticated melodies of canada native Justin Beiber?

Okay, bad example, but Basia Bulat, and Great Lake Swimmers are enough for me.

  • Love them. ^__^

    Especially this song.

  • this is so good. i love it

  • I saw them live last night and that prejudiced comment couldn't be further from what I witnessed. Maybe someone's been telling you how informed and witty you are. I wouldn't believe that either.

  • I'm sure you're upbringing was just as challenged.

  • IF ANYONE LIKE THIS PLEASE LISTEN TO BLUE RODEA= a canadian band to whom you will hear some similarities

  • Rodeo*

  • these reminds me of where the wild things are, it has that look to it.

  • it does i want to see the film of where the wild things are <3

  • the chorus reminds of a children's song

  • I love their videos

  • This man is absolutely amazing. So is the video, it reminds me of Where the Wild Things Are. Would be a good song to listen to when revisiting that childhood favourite :)

  • similar to Iron & wine - upward over the mountain

  • Saw them live last night, they're even better live!

  • These guys are awesome, great tune.

Kudos to CBC "GO!" for introducing me to them today.

Check out the "Deep Dark Woods" while your at it!

  • Man does this ever give me ideas for Halloween this year!

  • Great song & cool video! Love it !

  • This song is amazing. The lyrics are great too. A big shout of recognition to CBC for all the promoton too!

  • Damn this is an awesome song!

  • Oh, and this should be on the WTWTA soundtrack.

  • Not joking at all: the lead singer looks like the splitting image of my former biology teacher, who coincidentally sings and plays guitar on YouTube (zerobio). I actually thought it was him at first...it's kind of freaky.

  • -LOL- and the lead singer does have that "bio teacher" look to him.. that's so funny. :)

    I love this song.

  • I love this band, first heard them on Q. (Sorry, new dad syndrome means I get my music from direct sources now.)

Actually, I saw them on CBC kids, which my daughter loves, and as they were singing I was thanking the person in programming who said, "Give the parents something to know that we're giving them a nod during the cartoons."

    Really. Good. Band.

  • thanks to torrents/torrentfreak I discovered this band. I will definitely be picking up an album sometime soon.

  • So good.

  • awesome video. best of luck on the polaris !

also, tony is a total dreamboat

  • The bass line is brilliant in this song. Simple, yet very pleasing to the ears.

  • They're playing at Shelter Valley Folk Festival near Grafton, Ontario. I'm thinking of going. Sick sound!

  • i dont recall saying the people that worked there were stuck up. i said the ppl tht shop there are. aparently u agree.

  • actually...its just some of the models, mostly we have asians, spanish folks or young white kids and their parents shopping here. Its a good atmosphere, its laid back and I like it. = J

  • NO. NO NO NO.

  • Sheeit, no way. Well, at least white chicks'll listen to this now.

  • As a white chick, I resent that comment, haha. I don't even know what Hollister is. I'm assuming it's a clothing store? The name makes me think of guns for some reason.

  • It's a clothing store. Not a good one either. But a lot of white chicks shop there lol. And it reminds me of guns too. Maybe cuz it sounds like howitzer...

  • I think you're thinking of where you put your gun.... a holster or what have you haha.

  • Awesome blend of instruments.

  • I LOVE THE GREAT LATE SWIMMERS

  • reminds me of a midsummer's night dream

  • This song is just fantastic. So relaxing and peaceful to listen to... I cannot wait to see them in Ottawa!

  • They make music. Something that is hard to come by in the bump bump world of today.

  • Love these guys.

  • love this song.

  • I'm the gray haired guy who appears several times in this video. And as a health educator and author of The Male Thing Explained, I just have to say that Tony Dekker, otherwise known as the Great Lake Swimmers, is as nice and gracious to work with as he is talented. The world needs more uplifting music with the positive messages Tony creates. I wish him all the success in the world. He deserves it. And many kudos to Isaac Rentz this video's director.--Edward Lee Goldstein, MA, MS, RPT.

  • @EdwardLeeGee What a lovely words! :) You made me love him more and more. Tony deserves all success!

  • @EdwardLeeGee Tony has the most amazing dynamic range in his voice, plus talk about soul...? Great Lake Swimmers is much more than just Dekker's songs...but what soul that guy has. Incredible, enviable, beautiful songs...every one.

  • Absolutely incredible.
