  • TROLOLOLOLO: this conversation. Nice use of my name, btw. BOTH OF THEM.

  • @BookwormBekah Thanks! It probably won't be the last time you're alluded to in a film of mine.

  • @zimfan Wow, David. I had no idea how much of an inspiration I was to you. JUST KIDDING, I am full aware of how awesome I am.

  • @BookwormBekah Yay! Remember, you're being thanked in my Academy Award speech, lest you forget how awesome you are. :D

  • @zimfan Pssh BITCH. You'll be thanked in MY Academy Award speech.

  • @BookwormBekah Not if I get there first. ;)

  • @zimfan We'll see, skippy.

  • don't worry i'll post it, filming starts as soon as there's snow on the ground. and my statement that you just trashed on is, in fact, grammatically correct, and therefore evokes the same concept with more letters than the simple minded, less advanced, typical writing style of the day, while maintaining the cumulative meaning of all synonymous ideas. in that respect, i, unlike you, do hope i write in such a manner normally.

  • @RockandRoll21395 Okay, man, whatever you say. ;) Good luck with everything. Unfortunately, I feel that if we're both accepted, we won't really be friends.

  • sorry not really the biggest fan. would you mind sharing your GPA and SAT?

  • @RockandRoll21395 I'm only a Junior in HS, so my GPA isn't final, but right now it's about a 3.95 and I haven't taken my SAT yet. Thanks for watching, though! Are you planning on applying to NYU?

  • @zimfan I am planning on applying i too am a junior in high school with a 2.7 freshman year, a 3.5 sophomore year, and a junior year building up to a 4.3 (colleges just love improvement). im bankin for the 2200 on the SATs but my real strength in my application will be my portfolio film, it will be gigantic. i suggest you, for you own sake, to make a different video that's a little more creative, less stretched out, and particularly with better audio. good effort and i hope to see you @ NYU 2013

  • @RockandRoll21395 I was going off the college 4 point scale, but on a 5 point scale ( what I think you're basing your's off of) my GPA would be a 4.93. I think you're focusing too much on the technical aspects of the film, which NYU is disregarding. They clearly state what they're looking for is "Visual Storytelling", and while I'll definitely make another before applying, the audio won't really improve (I have a low budge camera). Could you elaborate on "more create, less stretched out"?

  • @zimfan I, as well, am telling you my GPA off the 4 point scale and it would be OKAY if your technical aspects were not advanced if your story was creative enough to distract the audience from them, which i feel yours is not. The lengthiness of certain scenes, particularly the one where the girl is trying to kill herself and her phone keeps ringing, is boring and repetitive and the lack of connection between the 3 stories is disappointing. Also the settings are too confined, raise your boundries

  • @RockandRoll21395 Your opinons, while yours, are pretty awful. "Setting too confined" is not a film criticism, it is lack of film knowledge. Some of the best films are shot in one room or location (What's up, Casablanca, how are you?), maybe the tension of the third scene didn't hit with you, but the 3 stories are very clearly connected and possibly that went over your head. That or all your comments are ignorance. 4.3 GPAs aren't possible on a 4.0 scale. I can't wait to see your film though!

  • @RockandRoll21395 At this point, I'm expecting you to apply with Lawrence of Arabia proportions!

  • @zimfan Haha i understand your no film wizard, but no need to criticize my opinions (which are right btw). and a 4.3 is very possible on a 4 point scale with multiple AP courses (of which i am currently enrolled). you claim your film is an exaggeration of high school stress when it completely fails to promote the vibe of comedy and instead feels like a typical attempt to produce realistic drama through unlikely real life scenarios. how are the characters connected? why should i care about them?

  • @RockandRoll21395 If you're enrolled in AP classes your GPA is on a 5.0 GPA scale, it doesn't magically break the 4.0 scale. :P So you have a 4.3 on a 5.0 scale, and probably around a 3.8 on a 4.0 scale. No one said exaggerations had to be comedic, Huck Finn for example. Drugs and suicide aren't very unrealistic, but it's the setup of a kitchen/kingpin that pushes it toward the fantastical. Rebekah serves as the connection to all of it, as she never realized the people she had.

  • @RockandRoll21395 Like I stated in the description, I'm iffy about this as a "Possible application film". I notice all it's flaws, I'm already in the process of re-filming and re-recording the pool scene, just as a back up. I plan on making at least 2 more short films before applying, and fixing the errors I made in this one in my next film and so on and so on. I'd hold your opinions in higher esteem if I had any proof you've made a film or are making one at all.

  • @RockandRoll21395 I'm also curious to hear which is your favorite NYU Application film you've found on Youtube!

  • @zimfan @zimfan Don't worry i'll prove my skill to you once i make my film but the ones on youtube really aren't all that great. for creativity i give it to this one: /watch?v=LPx0NeNcUHk for technicality probably this one: /watch?v=jVQ5RsFu2HI

  • @RockandRoll21395 Can't wait to watch your film! I honestly feel like All Out of Lemons can compete with those which have been accepted and posted on Youtube. Especially after I remaster the pool scene.

  • @zimfan Haha i'm working up a script now but mine will be a very original thriller actiony sort of thing with a nice twist rather brilliant if i do say so myself. and i agree it CAN compete with many of those that have been accepted (most of them are horrendous to my eyes) but if in fact you don't get in i guarantee its this portfolio that is to reason for your downfall.

  • @RockandRoll21395 "that is to reason for your downfall." Damn, man, I hope you don't write like this normally! Well be sure to post your video on youtube, I look forward to watching it!

  • In the kitchen on a cutting board with a paring knife? I'm so sure.

Other than that, I thought this was really well done, David! Nice work with the script and various shots, your camera angling was impressive. :)

  • @Althesuperfish The kitchen/cutting board/knife are all part of the humor of it! It's so overtly dramatic and angsty. (as the film is supposed to be an exaggeration of High School frustration or whatever)

The full length version of All Out of Lemons is everything that I wrote in my little white book, it's way more silly, and it will be so much better, I promise.

  • Guys; Great Job!
