  • This year marks 10 years Ice Age.

  • so his wife was trying to company him

  • When I was young, I saw this during Ice Age.

My sister and me almost died of laughing.

It took us about 30 minutes to restore from laughing when the bunny uses its crutches xD

Now I'm grown up and see that it's a really touching shor movie.

  • I watched this as a kid, ironically it made me depressed, because I was afraid that it meant everybody died alone in a day to day monotonous routine. But ironically , watching it now it makes me feel a little more satisfied then anything else because I can understand the film as a whole and the message its sending across clearer. Its got a happy ending after all. They did a great job on this piece. ^-^

  • @MajorHarvestMoonFan That's exactly how i felt. Me and my brother were talking about how depressing watching this was and why they would put it with Ice Age. haha

  • @Bsquez0129 lol well it is a facinating piece of animation, it's sad, but it does have a good theme. XD I'm not sure what drove them to put this particular piece in though. rather then something about singing birds or talking animals XD

  • So the bunny died because of the little got dam BUG!,

The heart stopped beating because of the stress. The bug kills people, who have bad hearts!

    Dam you bugs! :P

  • Creepy as fuck

  • Man it's been a while since I have seen this. I first saw it as a kid. It was an extra in the Ice Age DVD. Still makes me cry to this day.

  • God is love

  • sssooo saaad :((((((

  • Makes me tear up every single time I watch it.

  • @thornsx

    Fag!

  • when i was little i always laughed really hard at the part where she kills the moth. then like a year later i was 6 and realized what the video was about and almost cried... but i still cant get over that scene with the moth...

  • this.is.gay.as.hell.

  • @bloodxx54321xxblood your mom is as gay as hell

  • This short film scared the living crap out of me when I was 5 or 6. Now I'm 13 and I realize that it's a great, beautiful film, but it still scares the crap out of me. Hard to drop something that terrified you for half of your life, I guess.

  • @SirHoboTheSecond Wow, this is true. Still scares me, too.

  • I don't get it :(

  • This short film is beautiful an tells a wonderful and hearwarming story. I wish we had more stuff like this today.

  • This is the first time I've seen this in years; I know what's going to happen but I still cry at the end!

  • i dont find this film very original, there aree better ones

  • anyone know da song where she is flying wit the moths pls

  • This gave me nightmares when I was 7. I still don't like moths to this day

  • I LOVE ANIMATION!

  • Did nobody realize that her crawling into the oven is symbolic of the German gas chambers? She's obviously Jewish of some kind! I think that's probably why it won the oscar

  • the ending makes you happy and sad at the same time. sad because she died. happy because she is going with her husband and not going to hell.

  • Thank god I found this, I have been looking everywhere! Thanks for keeping it up for people to watch, after all these years!

  • @marymary21229 i saw this for the first time in like 2002 at the age of like 6, and i have been trying to find it ever since. it still makes me cry...

  • @NintendoRambo Same here lol

  • i cried

  • this video used to scare the crap outta me wen i was a kid LOL

  • I cry every time I see this :'(

  • i have been looking for this video for three or more years!!!! holly sh*t!!! im so happy i found it

  • I didn't understand it so much when I was younger. I didn't get the complexity of it... But watching it now, I cried like a bitch.

  • I balled my eyes out the first time i saw this when i was 7! I cried for weeks, every time i would slightly think about it i would silently cry, it was soooo sad! D,X

The rest of my family was like ' what the hell's wrong with you???'. Only i got the point of the film and now i tried my hardest to not CRY and succeeded. I'm still touched.

  • Min dotter skickade till mig här.Rolig för som gå uåå till himmelen.

  • Min dotter skickade till mig här.

  • I didn't know Tom Waits music at the time, but now I hear it!

  • In the 1999 Oscars this short beat out another short titled More. If you're a fan of shorts you will love that one, and in my opinion is much better than this one.

  • When I saw this as a little kid, I thought it was just some bunny going to another world in her oven...now after 10 years (im 16 now) I finally get the meaning of this...and I don't cry, but I cant stop tearing up..

  • That was funny as hell. That video 'chris bunny look at me now is funny as hell too.

  • i am afraid

  • scary raddit i am afraid

  • so when people die, moths take them to heaven through their oven? ok....

  • i first seen this on an ice age dvd when i was younger and it scared me.

  • @Juggalette97wikid SAME! This freaked the CRAP out of me!!! You know what... it STILL does.

  • @JayBird4theW1N How is this scary? It's touching and gentle. It's clear she didn't ACTUALLY climb into the oven, she died in her sleep.

  • @beautifulpassion I dunno... it just gives me the creeps.

  • always makes me cry!..and love Tom Waits at the end!!!

  • I remember first seeing this on the Ice Age DVD. I was young and I gotta say I really didn't think much. Wathcing it now, years later, Christ, I had a tear ot two. And Really choked up.

  • If you like this video, you actually like old bunnies dying. Yep. Got that in your mind forever now, haven't I? Right until you press the dislike button.

  • félek a nyúltól

  • Aw man, I had almost forgotten about this. I saw this when I was little and was seriously so upset by it that I couldn't sleep for days (I was a very sheltered, sensitive child) Though I think the animation kinda creeped me out too.

  • Blue Sky is a great animation company. I hope they do more like this in the future.

  • I know this is a beautiful, amazing short and everything, but the ending just kind of makes me think that the bunny accidentally got the wrong afterlife and ended up in Moth Heaven and not Bunny Heaven.

  • I used to be really scared to watch this when I was a kid. I dont know why, its so beautiful.

  • @MrsMichaelBruno343

I agree. When I was a kid, this short really freaked me out.

  • They died with the stove on. Well I guess it isnt a choice between cremation and burial now is it.

  • I remember seeing this around the time my dog was scheduled to be put to sleep after being horribly sick for years. This brought me comfort, knowing that Archie was going to be fine as he flew to whatever the afterlife was with his moth friends :)

  • So beautiful! I remember watching this at the SIGGRAPH 98 film show, and the emotion of it really shocked me. I was sobbing by the end of it - and I wasn't the only one. To this day, I think this is among the best ever CG shorts - in fact fuck it, it is THE best! A really moving work of art (even though it was created as a showcase for Blue Sky's new global illumination renderer)

  • I saw this a long time ago. I can't believe I found it again! I was beginning to think i had dreamed it.

This made me scared of shaking washing machines when I was young. lol

  • I can't believe why this shit won Oscar, not a amazing movie "More"

  • Truly a beautiful, moving tale of lost love and regained hope. A true A+ short. Thanks for uploading!

  • kinda wierd how theres nothing in the bowl when shes powdering nothing from the can...

  • Can you believe this was created more than a decade ago ?

  • I dunno. I saw this years ago when I was young and it scared me. There is still something that bothers me about it. It freaks me out!

  • One of the most beautiful short films ever.

  • Same, found some amazing animated stories while doing so too.

  • I remember when this came out it was one of the first animated shorts I saw, awesome. I had forgotten about it until I was reading about Tom Waits today and it said he did the music for this.

  • I see a lot of my own grandmother in the character bunny. This brings me to tears every time I watch it :')

  • This used to make me cry. ):

  • @chidori9079

This WOULD have made me cry IF i had'nt had the ending loudly announced to me from TheLivingDeadBoy before i'd even had chance to settle myself in on the channel

He's removed the comment now but it's too late for me as i found it impossible to view without feeling incredulity towards it all! Did he ruin it for you as well?

  • So, the moral of that story, is that being old sucks so much the only thing that you have to look forward to is death.

  • @vapourmile: I would say the desire for death starts at birth i.e. living sucks.

  • This short film is sad but it is also so heart warming. It was her time to go and be with her husband :) I like to think that the moth is her husband.

  • @94jg me too =D

  • Huh. So Tom Waits did the music. I knew the music-style was familiar.

  • @RightOnQ

    Right? Especially 2:43-3:32

  • Cuando compre la película de Ice Age 1 y mire este corto que el dvd traía. Me gusto mas que la misma película.

  • brillant, shades of Maestro, beautiful rhythmic music, and the bunny's twitching nose and old, skeptical eyes. creativity and beauty present in a story about almost nothing, just a tiny, intimate relationship in the dark, evoking pathos and peace.

The supernatural shuddering, the evocative journey of transformation. mr. wedge took a big risk in successfully drawing out beauty from a rather dry concept.

  • A very cool short film.

  • the first 3 notes of the song at the beginning sound like the Gerald McBoingBoing radio station name.

  • am i the only person here that gets creeped out by the bunny??? especially when he goes nutzo?! lol

  • @Mokibum13 omg no ur not the only one this used to scare the f**k outta me and it still does

  • Some how this brought my friend to tears????

  • I like it but i dont get the ending

  • @TheBlueskymovies in a nutshell... he died

Infact, if you were one of my employees, you'd be picking up your P45 with immediate effect! GOOD DAY, SIR!!!

You shouldn't have that degree in Sociology, it sounds like.

  • @TheLivingDeadBoy

U still hav nine thumbzies for your original post, that one where U gave the ending away to thousands of unsuspecting punters. I would imagine seven of those very same discruntled/Feeling cheated punters are responsible for thumbzing me up a total of seven votes, so far..

You originally scored 10 to your now nine so somewhere along the line your popularity appears to be denouncing itself before us. It's highly unikely but you may get one or two *sympathy votes* in the future!

  • This is so cute. And the story is just beautiful. (:

  • VERY IMPRESSIVE =)

  • Excelente. Es del director de la Era de Hielo y si no me equivoco aparece en el DVD de esa película, según entiendo le dieron la dirección de la Era de Hielo gracias a este corto.

    Sencillamente magnífico

  • beauuuutiful Tom waits song in the background, and a beauuuutiful animation. So touching..made me cry.

  • great video :D

  • Tres sympathique.

  • what a wonderful film!

  • so beautiful, i've been looking everywhere for this!

  • @lbplayer177 and i found it in a few seconds :D

  • @lbplayer177 Me too.

  • such a good work of art=]

  • I see, the gas right?

  • This is lovely. Was this on a dvd or movie?

  • Ice Age DVD.

    :]

  • Thanks! ^_^

  • Great job. But Mark Osborne and his More were much better

  • @alckinoy: I'm inclined to agree. More was a tour de force about the perils of greed. This is, if you'll forgive the expression, a bit too fluffy to deserve an Oscar in my mind. Mind you, this was an incredible short, don't get me wrong, but More was just an excellent movie that deserved the Oscar that year.

  • Beautiful and touching. Love this short film

  • It's so deeply moving... No wonder it won an oscar!

  • i like it!

the song is awesome!!! tom waits is brilliant!
