That's a classic. My Dad & his platoon mates in WWII, had FUBAR written in ink on their field jackets. His commanding officer, after finding out what it meant later, made them cross it out or be court martialed. Troops back at the beach not advancing inland, were made to paint over FUBAR written on landing craft still stranded at the beach. Not many funny things happen in war, but FUBAR is a nice one.
Also there's a word in German "FUrchtBAR" and it means "awful, terrible" :) I realized that 2 weeks ago as I was learning new words.
