Well, yeah, they don't sound like Spinal Tap. They sound like a hard rock band. They definitely don't sound proggy though... they don't have anywhere near enough keyboard solos, plus their longest song is like 5 minutes long! They sound maybe a bit like half-prog bands like Styx, Boston or something, but comparing them to Yes or Jethro Tull doesn't yield many similarities.

Not sure if you are old enough to remember "the monkeys" they where a manufactured sudopop group from the 60s. Syndications reruns lasted into the early 80s. The members were picked because they were good singers and musicians.

They had all the talent of a group, but they where never counted as one because they where a studio/marketed construct, this went on after they start to produce their own music. Take most "artist" of today and they could do nothing for themselves.
