  • Wow hes so good, hes great, just simply amazing...using his head at 3:45

  • God at work on a tennis court !!! Roger is the best ever!!!

  • That's why he is the best :)

  • it´s unbelievable how roger plays but now he´s getting older and older and he lost all the matches against nadal now but he´s still the master of tennis and he will ever be that!Roger4ever!

    Sorry for my english^^

  • shitty music

  • Was it the same year Federer lost against Del Potro?

  • @chia1123 yes he lost to him in the US Open final - and that was actually his first loss against del potro ever (they had played like 6 before that meeting in the final)

  • watching this u begin to think the hyperbole directed at federer is actually justified - it's difficult to imagine anyone playing better

  • nadal or federer seems to be such a common dispute, but honestly, after this video, how can you possibly like nadal more? i think nadal IS better and i also think nadal will retire with MORE slams then federer, but the shots that this man comes up with are just insane, unthinkable, amazing to watch. waiting for nadals opponent to net a ball is a whole lot less entertaining

  • @F1shguy Nadal is a better player than Federer in their meeting, but Federer's a better overall player.

Nadal got to win 7 slams or more to surpass him (if the guy doesnt win more slams than today), and Djokovic is standing in the way... apart from the French, Nadal die to win other slams so I dont think he will do that.

  • 2:09 - HAX! The ball just sticks to his raquet.

  • this music really sucks dick

  • awful match, beautiful music!

  • roger federer: good

    music: 1 dick

  • he's just the best!!

  • The music isnt shit

    the singer is shit

  • this time federer aims at the backhand of del

  • where the hell r u maystro !!

  • This is what makes Roger Federer so loved.. the abilty to effortless put in performances like this. It´s just SO joyful to watch, when he is in this mode he is unbeatable..

  • What does Fed do at 3:37?

  • this was a near perfect performance for roger..

  • Can somebody how is this song called? PLEASE !

  • Haha getting del potro to hit slice backhands is a pretty big achievement in itself.

  • 1:49 why does the score say 36 love 40 set point? Is that possible?

  • @ghfreakwierdo123 It doesn't say set point it says 3 break points. it's just the first game of the second set.

  • raped.

  • @AndresRoddick1

hahahaha..he was poor del potro was completely humiliated

this is the level roger plays at when he is 100% fit and healthy.i dont think i have ever seen a player being dismantled like this.i dont think i have ever or will ever see nadal play like this

probably the most perfect match i have ever seen roger play

  • @AndresRoddick1 butt raped

  • obviously, by definition, the highlights only show the best moments, but from what you are shown here, this must have been one of the most impressive Federer's match ever. He completely destroyed DP

  • @LapoSettepanze haha i have seen one

lleyton hewitt - us open final 2004

guess who he played against =D

  • what the fuck is this song? O.o

  • EXCELLENT

  • Comment removed

  • Del Potro is pretty light for being 6'6 (180lb) -- must be a hindrance when he tries to glide around the court, unlike Federer who seems to have no problem floating like a butterfly and making shots like a pharmacist in flu-season. nice vid.

  • Can anybody tell me the name of the song please ?

  • GOD IM FUCKING FEELIN THIS MUSIC RIGHT NOW!!! YEAH!!! Touch myself

  • Roger Federer is by far the greatest tennis player we've ever seen, bar-none, when he decides to retire it's gonna be a sad day for tennis and especially for me. I can compare it to Michael Jordan's exit from the N.B.A.. Just hope it doesn't happen for a while. Great and humble champion.

  • @SuperIceman707 nadal number 1. how can you say he's the best when nadal has beaten him more times + nadal is a younger player and federer at his age did not have half the trophies nadal has.

  • @andresdanielkelly simply because if youve watched both of them play for a long time federer can just produce the better tennis.

the fact that he has trouble bringing it to the court against nadal doesnt change anything about federers top level of play still being way ahead of nadals. i have yet to see nadal play the kind of tennis that roger has shown lots of times in many matches. like the one against del potro here

  • @erbgorre @erbgorre how can u say that lol.when nadal i think has beaten him 15 times and federer 5?something like that.and federer right now i think is number 3 or 4?he's not winning anything right now.and don't talk in general terms, you like the way federer plays so for(you)he is the best in the world, and believe me, u have not seen all of nadals games if ur saying that u need to see more of him, ive seen enough cos i live in spain, and he is a world class player( strength, technique, agility)

  • @andresdanielkelly you realize you scored 0/3 correct on your first 3 points there right? lol

you were close on the head to head tho ill give you that ;)

but like i said the head to head doesnt mean nadal is the better player in general. federer has always struggled against nadal for a few reasons.

    1. its federers worst possible matchup considering palystyles. nadal plays the direct countertennis to federers. the extreme spin to his single handed backhand, being a "fake" lefty, and the likes..

  • @andresdanielkelly

    2. nadal has always had the psychological advantage for leading the head to head. and he did so right from the start because in the beginning of their rivalry when federer was in his prime they only ever met on clay since nadal didnt make it to the big finals on the other surfaces. like 10 of their first 12 meetings were on clay, where nadal actually IS the better player imo. clay only

psychology is a big factor in tennis. it usually helps federer but not in this case..

  • @andresdanielkelly

    3. over the last years the conditions everywhere in the world have changed massively in nadals favor. not intentionally of course but it plays into his cards big time that conditions got slowed down to have players go for longer rallies that would attract new audiences. with nadals playstyle he would not have won wimbledon 5-10 years ago. and other tournaments too

federer is the most complete player alltogether. nadal says so himself

greatest player makes the game look easy

  • @erbgorre true nadal does not makeit look easy he makes it look really hard all you think is wow hes fast and strong, obviously he hits some nice shots but its not the same feeling at all as watching federer. Nadal only plays amazing when he is pushed he reacts to others, federer just pulls it out an imaginary bag

  • Roger Federer is by far the greatest tennis player we've ever seen, bar-none, when he decides to retire it's gonna be a sad day for tennis and especially for me. I can compare it to Michael Jordan's exit from the N.B.A.. Just hope it doesn't happen for a while.

  • youtube being musictube god remove that shit and let the real sound of the match

  • seeing shots like that i would just say to myself "why bother?" if he basically decides how every point ends then what chance do u have really?

  • will i ever see this federer again????

  • What an outrageous perfomance by Roger.

btw, can someone tell me the song title, because it doesn't seem to be B.Midler "The rose"?

  • If you ever have any doubts about how good Fed is and was all you need to do is watch this video. Fed maybe past his prime but he is the best player EVER to play the game of tennis.

  • 94% 1st service, o fuck! It was his day.

  • Fed needs to play this way against nadal instead of trying to beat him at rallies. Drop shot, cheap slices, deep backhand and finish the point at net. Nadal's passing shot won't always work If he tried to finish the point cleanly at volley like sampras with aggressive baseline play esp on nadal's serve. He hates to come to the net suddenly.

  • Only Nadal could beat a Federer at this level.. And only Federer could beat Nadal at his best .. That's what's great about these two !

I'im a huge Federer Fan and I'm watching this video like every week .. Unbelievable !

  • @doofynetgraouw In grass and in this type of court Nadal can't beat Federer at his best. When Federer is concentrated at most Nadal can't beat him. Just on clay.

And in this Frenc Open if Federer did'nt lose his focus on crucial times he would won in 3 sets.

  • @VictorIRONMAIDEN666 federer was playing great tennis, during the 2009 AO, federer played 1 bad set, which was the deciding 5th set, with nadal..other than that, he was playing very well, during the course of the tournament, this match and the match with roddick, are a testament to roger´s form at the time.

  • The Musiic (NN) !

  • lol to the music, im trying to get inspired not emotional.

  • he was playing so well, and then lost to nadal, i was blown

  • fedeer is amazing and the music is crap :P

  • probably the best match he ever played!!

  • It's scary when he plays that good. It doesn't matter what you would do, it won't be good enough. Love you Roger

  • can someone tell me the song title? i love it

  • thats got 2 be completely embaressing for the other guy to be owned like that

  • The only way Del Potro would win this game was if he had gun.... but he hadn't... so, he had to come back to home by bike...

  • Beautiful video. Federer was unbelievable in this match.

  • lol at 2:25

    1st serve winning 94%

  • This is probably the greatest performance ever by GOAT.. Ridicioulos stuff, pretty much all the shots are unbelievable.

  • you forgot how he utterly destroyed Roddick in 2007 in Australia?

    that was sick too

  • yeah, that was insane as well. i guess this one was even better though, the difficulty of the shots in this one was even higher

  • Good for Del Potro that he got his revenge against Federer because in this one he was annihilated - I guess that was not one of those Roger's games where everything goes perfect for him - In any case is always a pleasure to watch him play

  • I have asked this question before and i will ask it again, who is the artist behind this song? It seems unfair that after writting you on youtube that you would still not give me an answer to this question. If she is an unknown artist, at least give her some credit if you plan to use her material in your video. Its only fair... Great music, could do with buying her album though. I know most youtube visitors love rock, but i find this refreshing and more appropriate for this video.

  • crappy song, good contemplation

  • Federer is probably the greatest 'front runner' of all time. Once he's a set, or two sets ahead, he's in God mode.

  • uhm, he is the greatest tennisser of all time.

  • Monster federer

  • Amazing video! I love Roger! He's the greatest ever!

  • its mental toughness because clearly he is capable. Sampras was better in this regard.

  • If Federer played like this all the time...then tennis would be over as a "competitive" sport...

The fact is he doesn't...e.g. US OPEN 09' final vs. Del Potro..

  • ahhahahahaha delpobike

  • Del Potro actually didnt play too badly in this match

in fact all of his shots were working really well

its just that federer anticipated pretty much every shot and destroyed him.

  • del potro looked a step and a half slower than usual too, and that also helped federer destroy him. yeh, just a bad day for del potro and federer played superbly and held his nerve really elegantly.

  • @cralung

    Nadal once said something like:

If he is great, I have to be incredible; if he is incredible, then it's impossible.

It says pretty much what it has to; if he is in his mood, playing his best game... let's just say that against a hot Federer, two sets leads are very thin leads in GS.

  • @cralung How was he shots working well??? Most of the shots he made aimed directly into the center of the court right into Roger Federer...

  • Comment removed

  • @futuramaishot for example, 1:12, 1:42, 3:02, 3:30, 3:34, 3:47, and 4:16

  • lol the shot with the head is so cool at 3:45

  • ya haha i wuz wondering is taht legal??? if so, he risked losing game point.

  • Che cosa era il nome di vecchia canzone?

  • Has anyone figured out the name of the old music?

  • Please, please send me the name of the old music.

  • This is one of my favorite Federer videos. It always makes me feel like going out to practice.

  • PLEASE PUT THE OLD MUSIC BACK ..it was so much better

  • nooooo what happened to the french music?

  • better than you I bet LOL

  • it's amazing how much Delpo improved his game and took the US Open. Reminds me of Djoker when he improved so much in one year and won the Aussie. We all know how that's turned out so far. Federer = GOAT.

  • It's amazing how passively Federer played to give that match away. He hit 0 forehand winners in 1.5-2 sets.

  • who else then is the shot-maker, if not Federer? There are more powerful players, but Fed has all shots, topspin, slice, drive, forehand, backhand, volley, serve and all on the very top level of pro tennis. Plus: he is one of the view who plays the impossible shots.

  • Comment removed

  • he doesn't hit much of a topspin compare to other players like nadal and dyo

  • Comment removed

  • what a match from federer!

I would have liked to see the stats at the end

  • hahaha music shit! that's true

    What an owneage!

  • lol del potro gets owned here and he improved so much then beat roger at us open and hes only 20!

  • FEDERER THE BEST EVER!!

  • what is the name of the music please? very good video!

  • Excellent Quality! But the music is shit

  • besides the fact that the video was very well done the song happened to have been beautiful and musical which is rare nowadays. if somebody knows the name could they tell me :) thank you

  • roger federer : good

    music: shit

  • I believe Del Potro hit the ball to federer off a double bounce, and the point was over, so fed was just having fun.

  • The point was over, so It wasn't illegal. The ball bounced twice on del potro's side of the net, before federer headed the ball.

  • Main difference then and the US Open now was not Federer but Del Potro. Balls were deep and Federer couldn't handle that an entire match. And offcourse the streaming forehand of Del Potro! I'm af Federer fan but Del Potro is growing to and outstanding player, if he isn't it already!

  • It's true that Del Potro has improved incredibly and is now a great player, but its also important to notice that federer was serving the worst in his entire career. (almost as many double faults as aces wtf?) and his backhand was just disgusting. (he framed 3 backhands in a row on del potro's serve once). i wanted federer to win, but Del Potro deserved it. I'm a die-hard 100% federer fan, but del potro just played better.

  • Yes, but also, Fed never used his slice to get Delpo out of rythm, and his serve was off. So not his best match at all compared to this one. But i was surprised though, never expected Delpotro to be so powerful.

  • 2:08 is just perfection,

  • yo no vi la final del US open...pero CLARAMENTE federer tiene que haber jugado mal...

  • Do now a video with the final of the US OPEN 2009. jajaja. VAMOS ARGENTINA !!!

  • yeah del potro was lucky

it was the worst 1st serve rating ever from federer

and the highest number of unforced errors

even the greatest is allowed to loose once

  • Well, I would say he took his opportunities. I would never get anything away from a winner. What happened, happened and, what ever the reason, in the end, the results count.

Of course, when you think he needed 5 sets and two tie breaks, which he won, to beat Federer with what? 48% 1st serves in?

It took the Masters' worst game in a month, if not in a year, and Del Potro's best performance in a life time. One or two more serves in and we're not having this conversation.

  • It's a shame for Roger, but Del Potro needed to play the shots to take the titles and he did. Congratulations, but we're still far behind the Swiss Genius.

An ordinary service would have been enough to win this game. At 4 strokes from getting away with it. 5/22 is the key number. Chances were Federer won the break point. Of course, Del Potro surely saved some, but Federer literally wasted the game.

Come'on Roger! Next year there are four. Perhaps a chance to get selfish the whole year?

  • He was at 2 sets from a Calendar slam this year...

2 sets and he is 28.

And not 6-0s, at one tie break Monday and at perhaps a game or two at the Aussie Open.

This must be hard to swallow. The difference is so tight he could have really done it just by playing a tiny bit better for 15 minutes...

Impossible you say? It's still plausible, even at 28 years old.

  • i love roger federer and its a shame he lost against del potro today i was rooting for him....I STILL LOVE YOU ROGER FEDERER!!!!! good luck in the future! :D

  • OMG who believes that after 9 months Del Potro will defeat Federer in the final of US open ,,,

  • this federer is good, no?

  • To the Uploader; who is the artist behind this great vid?

  • federer es un barbaro

  • Fed makes top ten players wonder why they ever picked up a racket. Sick.

  • loved u'r comment man.

  • OMG, RF explored every angle in this match. Its like a demo of every cool shot in tennis.

  • WOW....

a Swiss craftsman with unmatched precision...

  • I'll second that!

  • now that's what I call attacking tennis. keeping the points to lesser number of rallies there by conserving energy and avoiding injuries.

  • del potro got schooled big time that night

was quite like roger saying "ok so you won a few smaller tournaments last season but still way to go if you wanna play with the big guys pal" lol

but you can tell by their semifinal match at RG this year that del potro really took that lesson to heart. hes come a long way. i think hes actually one of the very few people who could even dare hope beating roger at a grand slam

  • i don't think anyone in ATP can beat Juan in such a way...so crazy, just look at RF's racket ,with 90 inch still perform the beauty of tennis

  • Nothing to say ,,,

    great performance from Roger ,,,

I hope he win US Open ,,,,

    The previous music better ,,,

  • Federer won 13 straight games against a top 6 player in Del Potro in a QF of a Grand Slam and only surrendered 3 games this entire match. I mean, I can't even believe that to this day. It's absurd.

He was absolutely MONEY in this match.

  • Can't remeber over which period, but he made his opponents face 60 times 6-0 situations while facing himself only 2 of those...

I like a line about him:

He is so good people just can't even believe he truly is THAT good.

It describs well disclaimers who think about his opponents not being able to play him and looking for an explanation. Of course, the last answer they look is "Federer is too hard to play".

  • simply the best. poor del potro. when federer is playing like that its impossible to win and delpo was the victim here...he wasnt even playing bad and he lost 3-6, 0-6, 0-6..

  • Federer's forehand is money and here we absolutly have no doubt about it.

Del Potro is a very solid player and he got kicked around like an amateur. He looks like a cat toying with a mice before eating it. But here, the mice is one of the top ten players since a while.

  • 3:45

    is this allowed?!

  • The ball already bounced twice on Del Potro's side. Just a bonus of Fed. ;)

  • theb all had already bounced twice so he had already won the point

  • the ball bounced twice before del potro hit it, so the point was already won for Federer...he simply headbutted the ball for amusement :p

  • eine klasse für sich der roger ;)

  • Hes just too good ;PP

  • very best player of history. it's unbelivable how lucky we are to see this guy play. Such of a difference with Nadal, Murray, or even djokovic

  • Well, his mechanics are superior to Sampras on every strokes. The only thing Sampras could do better is a first and second serve, aside this, perhaps could you compare their volleys.

Federer is 28 now and it's still arguable that he can outpower most baseliner players. This man is technically better than any player in history.

Don't look titles, records, etc. Look how well and gracefully he plays his strokes and you'll understand why he's the Greatest.

  • you absolutely right ! he just showed godlike tennis in cinci this week. just amazing

  • I wouldn't call his serve godly versu Murray. He wasn't serving well there and missed some easy shots all along the tournament. Didn't saw the final, but they say it seriously makes us wonder if his prime is done yet.

  • His 1st serve percentage was low vs. Murray, but he only lost like 4 1st serve points the whole match to Murray. He won like 92% first serve points on 54% first serve percentage. You're hard to beat when you do that even with a low 1st serve percentage.

  • the song is bullshit

  • Poor Del Potro didn't have a chance.

    lol

  • 3:27-3:29... that's just pure genius... see how he practically makes two fakes with first acting like hitting the forehand deep into potro's backhand but then switches to the drop shot and yet changes it to the slice deep into the opposite corner... this is psychologically most effective since usually players can only identify one fake for example the usual drop shot which is faked by a flat top spin backhand.... but in this case there's two fakes which makes reading this shot rather impossible

  • best video quality iv ever seen for tennis!

  • yeah its really good quality isnt it! :0

    haha.

  • bel video....la musica è troppo lenta...meglio un'altra canzone

  • amazing video quality!!!!

  • the old music was better ,,

  • What was the name of the old song that video had before this one?

  • bad song good video

  • Good, crisp, clean video but I don't really like the music.

  • When he's ahead in a match, he plays in God mode.

  • God has invited tennis for him.

  • shotmaker is probably the best way to describe roger, shotmaking is what he does best, hand´s down.

  • Great players amaze people.

Roger doesn't amaze people; he moves them.

This is how great he is: drawing off tears from human beings.
