  • I first heard this song live at the o2 in 2008. It grabbed me then and I still think it's brilliant now xxxx

  • I love The Strokes and The Cribs. Yay for me.

  • amazing song, a personal fave. but yeah his hair is a little bit funky in this video. the cribs are not to similar to the strokes, who are also an amazing band, they are both unique and have their own special way of doing things

  • it's kinda ironic that this video itself is "the hipster type"

    great song though!

  • reminds me of XTCs early LPs

  • STFU

    and listen to the song.

  • Who is bothered by Ryan's hair? It's fucking hilarious! Oh, and by the way, why are you comparing The Strokes + The Cribs? They're completely different, and who's best is a matter of taste. I prefer The Strokes, but that doesn't mean The Cribs are bad. Why are bands always compared? The Beatles and The Last Shadow Puppets too, it's pointless. All bands are different.

  • Whoa!

  • haha vengeance your actually going from one cribs video to another to be a twat? and your 30? i hope your kids don't turn out like you.

  • North England has the best bands in the world

  • the cribs are alot better than strokes. strokes are shit. first album is good though

  • @kurt5000yh no, wash your filthy mouth, file your finger tips till they bleed, listen to the bands again, realise how wrong you are, then go life your life safe in the knowledge that not only are the strokes legendary, but that you can't compare the cribs and the strokes.

  • @CleverBoy911 julian casablancas is a drunk fool.

  • @kurt5000yh The Stokes are the best modern band on the planet, beside Modest Mouse, maybe. They're tied

  • @yeltrahmas707 i disagree. is this it is a masterpiece.. but thats it. was fucking boring shit after + they are terrible live!!! libertines alot better live. I guess everyone kisses strokes arse because they opened the door.... but they opened the door for better bands in my opinion haha

  • us northerners deffo have the best bands for suuuuuuuuuuuure' :D

  • What do people think this song is about?

  • @ashbash986 your guess is a s good as mine i google their song lyrics and they're all a load of nonsense, guess that's what happens when you're inarticulate, unintelligent, dyslexic and from wakefield.

  • @ashbash986 Well the chorus is them putting down hipsters, which is what most of The New Fellas album is about, and then I suppose the verses might be about someone who's left them :P Not really sure, you can read whatever you want into it

  • They're perfect.

  • what shirts does the bassist have otr at least were can i get it.

  • whatever, I like The Cribs much better than Strokes :s

  • they're twins?? or its the same guy?

  • @ballcrack10 twins man

  • The Cribs are like that... other.... uh... band...

  • Nossa simplesmente pefeito Puro Indie Rock !^^

  • @descended7796- strokse influenced by these guys? Hmmmm sure there is about 5 years between debut albums- The Strokes fiirst;/ Bothgreat bands though!

  • ACE!

  • Please search "An Island's View - Summer Shoes (Single Preview)" it would mean a lot!

  • Comment removed

  • @descended7796 I agree!

  • @incaoutburst Jaja... I disagree! I like The Cribs and "Mirror Kissers" is my favorite tune (and easily their best I would say). But i love the strokes. The Strokes was formed in 1999 and hit it big in 2001. How could a band that was formed in '01 and became popular in '04 can influence one that was already well stablished and reforming a new wave of indie rock?

  • @politicaltheory sorry to ask but, wtf is jaja? i see tht damn word everywhere here its annoying- please just use REGULAR english lol not monkey jar jar binks english lol

  • @putaspekpek Jaja is the spanish equivalent to 'Haha'. The J in spanish sounds like an h in english.

If you want to say gardin in spanish you say Jardin... it is pronounced hardin with emphasis on the h.

  • @rainbowghostsplinter hey thanks 4 explaining friend, oh here something about thai language, 5555 actually likw hahahaha, the number 5 means HA, n when u say it all stuck 2gether it mean hahahah

  • @politicaltheory duuuude i have been listening to the strokes all day!!! and i come across this and see your comment has made my exam study a lot more enjoyable.loved the strokes since i was 10 now 14.

  • why is everyone so bothered about ryans hair who cares when he can play music this good

  • siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick

  • cool clip maaang

  • I am in Indonesia.

I Like This Song and Video. Nice Song and Video.

I Like The Cribs Songs and Music.

    Go The Cribs !

    Greetings From Indonesia.

    Thank You.

    haris.

  • HAVE A LISTEN TO US!!

  • ryan's hair back then was awful, saying that gary's aint much better.

  • @sameairmax ryan's hair's always been kinda bad.

    gary's is fine though

  • Wow, this video is so cool

  • I FREAKIN' LOVE THIS SONG!!! :D

  • hipsters, my loves, rock with me once more. THANK YOU REPLAY. :)

  • If like like raw recordings such as this, you'll probably like White Collar Crimes - whitecollarcrimes.bandcamp.com :) All live, all original...

  • Those guys suited up!

  • smh for hipsters.

  • I always seem to find new music easier on YouTube rather than on music discovery sites.

  • Bubezz, wow what a righteous cut from the cribs. Will go directly to cd universe and snag me a cd. Why is it that tired groups, in my opinion , like the Foo Fighters get all the exposure when there is such fresh innovative bands like the Cribs around? I swear Grohl practices throwing his dirty hair around. God, hope your not a Foo fan, If you are sorry but it just one man's opinion. Anyways thank you for the awesome cut!

  • FYOJBCDWSCBIL... I love this.

  • lol i just got done looking up HEAVY D&B and then found these guys, the best come down!

  • Johnny Marrs plays with this band. I don't know on what songs or what albums will find out.

  • @maveric23100 he doesn't anymore. He only played on the album "ignore the ignorant". I saw The Cribs at Rockness 2011 and i think they are better when it is the original 3 because they were fucking awesome at rockness.

  • @maveric23100 he only plays with them on their most recent album

  • Does anyone else think they might have been influenced by American 90's Alt Rock?

  • pink ties are groovey, except when my boss wears them.

  • I always jump with them at 2:34 :3

  • Great song. Great band. Great video. You dont like the song, the band or the video take your mainstream self and watch wonderwall on repeat. Cunts.

  • this is what the cribs are all about. proper northern music. makes us proud

  • I have a spare ticket for the gig at Coventry Kasbah this coming friday (20th). £20. Message me if your interested.

  • the video totally fits with the tune...

  • สุดยอดเลนครับ the cirbs ผมชอบเพลงนี้จริงๆ

  • fuck i hate all this chat about 'hipsters' these days! where the fuck did it come from? i'd never even heard of it/them until a few months ago and now it's everywhere! why does anyone even care about how people choose to live their lives? it seems a really petty thing to continually bitch about like it's a serious social issue when we could be directing that energy at something that actually matters, not the fact that someone doesn't like the same music as you...anyway, this song is brill.

  • I'm a little confused, i thought indie and hipster were kind of the same thing? And I'm kind of indie, but I'm not this hipster he is describing. Thats not knocking this song though because i absolutely love it:D!

  • @FalseOptimism Actually indie and hipster are 2 extremes. For example, to be an indie, all is required is to moderately like indie music. To be a hipster, you must rigorously defend ALL indie music. Even the ones that suck. You are either one extreme or the other. There is also another supposed concept where indie = individual and that to be indie, the main rule is to not admit to be indie. The same applies for hipsters. Which is why the word "hipster" is much thought of as as derogatory word.

  • @RedCrescentDemon that is true, i think unfortunatly its kind of lost it's meaning as it's kind of the fashion at the moment to be 'Hipster', but thankyou for explaining though , now i know the difference(:

  • @FalseOptimism Oh and just to add to that. Hipsters follow a creed to act really careless about stuff. You know how every youth revolution from every decade believed in something and defended it? Causing revolution and social barriers to break? Consider hipsters to be the revolution of NO revolution, thoughts, beliefs, etc. Hipsters are the non-revolutionary revolution of this decade and are believed to be the void of all youth culture. If anyone can give me more insight here, please do.

  • @RedCrescentDemon Right i think i see, so basically, it's like a fashion or sterotype of people following the act of recklessness? They are like rebelling against normality and what is ususally socially expected?

  • @FalseOptimism It is a kind of fake nihilism, so to speak. I mean, ALL youth revolutionary movements do exactly as you've said, or tried to. They act like they don't care, but they do. They're the kind of people that would wear all blue and hang a blue DS around their neck to look cool. The only difference here is that hipsters have no solid core foundation of beliefs. They serve no real purpose, they don't have anything to say with what they do. They are the void of a youth movement.

  • @FalseOptimism Their only purpose is to exist. Truly, that is all. If there is a core belief system here, it is to grudgingly hold on to all music that is underground and defend it to the end. Well at least the way they dress is somewhat structured. Thick rimmed glasses, flannel shirts, hoodies, etc. Try looking up the wikipedia article on them. If you look at the discussions board, they mention a link to this site that shows you EXACTLY how a hipster should dress. Dos and Dont's.

  • @FalseOptimism Just look at how the quality of mainstream media has dwindled in the last 20 years. It could also be a generational gap but, you could also say that the hipster culture is the response to the decay of all media. 20 something year olds who lived in the 90s when everything was awesome are tired of all the mainstream crap. So they attempt to search only the barely known, barely corrupted by labeling companies. They attempt to remain unlabeled, unidentified, and yet find theiridentity

  • @RedCrescentDemon Yeah i see, it's annoying, im only 15, but the current mainstream music is awful, i love music from older gernerations. I know everyone hates it when people say ' i was born in the wrong era' but... i was born in the wrong era.

  • @FalseOptimism No, it just means that you have the sophistication and intellect to seperate good music from bad. I feel like older generational music is good too. Not all though. Nowadays, everything new that is good comes from underground stuff. So the current trend is to repel ALL mainstream media and embrace the world of the underground. Though I hate how people can stop liking something just because it's well known. I find that retarded. That's following the trend too much.

  • @RedCrescentDemon Thats true, but sometimes when artists become well known they change the style a bit to suit their new audience,so therefore lose some followers, but i do agree with you, music should be a personal preferance and shouldn't be chosen on its popularity, thats why i tend to keep my music close to my heart instead of broadcasting it,because i shouldn't be labeled from the music i listen to,because it seems like an insult more to my character & personality rather than just being music.

  • @FalseOptimism True. Artists who become mainstream do "sellout" when they become mainstream. Though I don't blame them. After all they have to sign contracts where their recording labels who represent them gain much of their creative control including changing their image. So I understand where this mainstream stigma comes from. It's really the music industry's fault that music has decayed like this. When is the last time that you've heard a mainstream rock band coming out nowadays?

  • @RedCrescentDemon Yeah that is true, i think its slightly sad they change in order to gain money, it's not what music should be about, so yeah stupid music industry! Eh, i don't know really, the stuff i tend to listen to never really becomes mainstream, or was that a rhytorical question?

  • @FalseOptimism Not rhetorical at all. Look at the mainstream rock patter of nowadays. Instead of headbangers ball and MTV being an ACTUAL channel about music instead of reality tv shows, all you get old bands like Metallica and Guns N roses making new albums that suck. Why? Because their contracts bind them to do so. When you're forced to make something and are out of ideas and you do it for money, it will generally suck. The industry is barely letting any new bands in now.

  • @FalseOptimism Mainstream rock, hell, mainstream everything is in decay. Rap has merged with pop to make this rap/pop crap. It's not about the struggle, about the life story, about soul anymore. Rock used to be all about the attitude and beliefs behind it, now it is decay mainstream-wise. Pop has become this shitty autotuning/bad lyric/overused melodies and beats thing. And as of now, musical media is in decay. The real music lies in the underground. It is the only sanctuary for real music.

  • @FalseOptimism Sure, maybe it was good that rap turned out this way. In tupac and biggie's east vs west war, it brought a lot of chaos and people dying so maybe it was better that rap turnes soft. When Kurt Cobain died, it made 67 kids kill themselves. Both eras were in the 90s and both forms of music brought much turmoil in those times. Or maybe it was a reflection of the times. Maybe it was better for mainstream music to become generic and meaningless. Maybe this is why music has become

  • -meaningless now. To avoid the conflict, chaos, and deaths that it could bring when IT was meaningful. We live in a time that is more negative than ever before. The future seems more scary to people. Everyone thinks we were gonna die in the year 200. Now people think the end of the world will be 2012. All this negativity. The industry is trying to avoid that negativity from taking any more lives. Maybe it is better this way now that I think about it. Maybe mainstream music should stay this way.

  • @RedCrescentDemon Nice rants, man (completely serious.) You're hittin' the nail right on the head about this generation's mainstream media.

  • @arcademachines Yeah. Because now you have the misguided, naive, preteen, teenager audience gawking over whatever is the "new" song/artist. Those are the types liable to do things like kill themselves. And then you have the musical critics, conosseiurs, etc, delving into the deep abyss of the underground questing for a fresh new sound. Looking for something to jam to that they can enjoy. Now music can be conducted safely. Hehe:D

  • @RedCrescentDemon Hmm, thats interesting,I've never really thought of it like that.So maybe the current music industry is helping to prevent chaos and keep up spirts,& at the end of the day, it doesnt really matter what the music industry is playing because people arent going to change what they listen to depending on where it is in popularity(well, most people)the musics always there,it just may not be all in the same place. We can still listen to what we like, even if its different.

  • @FalseOptimism I didn't think of it that way until we had this conversation. Seriously. Thanks to you, I learned a lot from our chat. (really, seriously. I know it sounds crazy but sometimes when I have long chats with people, I learn things as I say them) Thus, we come to the great resolution. Mainstream music SHOULD suck cuz it keeps the stupid, impressionable audience happy. Good music from good artists should probably remain underground so nothing affects their quality. BUT

  • @RedCrescentDemon ...Happy or sad. It has no depth, thats what it's missing. Yeah thankyou for this chat to(: its been fun, i have learnt alot aswell. Well, have a nice life, unless our paths cross again, on some other controversial youtube video!

  • @FalseOptimism Hehe, same you too. It's been fun. Later! :D Umm hey, om a side note, just wondering, you play any MMORPGs?

  • @RedCrescentDemon Nah i don't im more a facebook girl me(':

  • @FalseOptimism Ugh no offense. But I HATE facebook games. They pale in comparison to whats really out there. Better for you though, cuz you won't get addicted to thos awesome games out there. You have no idea what MMORPGs are out there. I mean, most of them are WoW copies but, yeah.

  • @RedCrescentDemon aah no i dont play facebook games, i just use facebook(: Oh i really dont like wow :L I found it uninspiring, and a bit samey!

  • @FalseOptimism I feel the same way about most games out in the market right now. A lot of overused game mechanics. It's pretty grim for online games nowadays.

  • @FalseOptimism one shouldn't stop liking something because it got famous. If so, then you'd just be mindlessly looking for any music that is vaguely known in order to find the satisfaction of being "privileged" enough to know music that isn't commonly known instead of focusing on your preferential perfect sound of music. This is by far one of the best chats I've had on youtube. It's rare to go this far in a conversation here. I learned a lot here. Thanks. :)))

  • @RedCrescentDemon Sorry i missed some of your previous comments about different genres and how they have become alot less meaningless. Mainstream music use to help inspire and inform others and confess about the aversity of their lives. However now it seems to have become emotionless, and subdued. It seems as if someone has misinterpreted the meaning of sorrow, so now sadness is missing your bus. Mainstream music has simply, lost its contrast. It is all grey, there is no real white or black...

  • @FalseOptimism But I also believe it is that same sadness that made 67 kids shoot themselves. The same rage that killed tupac and biggie and incited the west vs. east war. Mainstream music simply became too emotional, too raw. It affected people in ways no one could predict. It's actually a good thing that mainstream music is so meaningless and droll.

  • @RedCrescentDemon In fact, it is possible that the only reason why all this hipster hype has surfaced is just because someone noticed them. Maybe they never wanted to be noticed or labeled. Maybe the word "hipster" serves as nothing more but a label to assist in demystifying a group of kids who've adopted a lifestyle which is supposedly anti-consumerism. I don't really know. It could also be the thirst of something NEW and different. Just look at how mainstream music has been stigmatized.

  • @RedCrescentDemon I think I'm rambling. I'm sorry, I can't stop myself when I ramble. Ok, I'll stop now.

  • i will be seeing the cribs, echo and the bunnymen and blondie in july...I AM VERY EXCITE!

  • Videillo de colores bonito, música chaira :D

  • 19 people are hipsters.

  • 19 people obviously hate music in general!

  • YEah Man .TELL THOSE DAMN HIPSTERS

  • yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyeeeeessssssssssssssss

  • this song just doesn't get old - love it!

  • i think this is what Wheres fluffy from Nick and Norah's infinite play list sounds like.

  • Dá vontade de dançar o/ beber e fumar :D

  • why does every band always have to be compared, and judged, their music is their music.

just sit back, watch the video and enjoy the song.

  • @paulmako totally agree

  • @inadversityblkops thats a ridiculous thing to say. if music wasn't criticized it would all be shit, because the musicians wouldn't have any feedback or reviews etc to improve on.

  • @9t9t3 because obviously musicians are incapable of knowing whether the songs they write are good or not

  • @film4thefuture i cant tell if that was sarcastic or not lol

  • @9t9t3 Um, no. Music is frequently criticized and music is largely STILL shit. I can give a monkey's ass about hearing someone paid for their opinion thinks about something that my own ears should be telling me. And musicians don't get feedback from these YouTube videos. You fail.

  • Comment removed

  • @inadversityblkops the perfect youtube response

  • This makes me instantly wa!nt to trash something!

    Vintage.

  • these guys are too cool for main stream

  • I feel ashamed. I'd never heard of The Cribs until Nevermind The Buzzcocks when Ricky Wilson was presenting.

Still, best Buzzcocks ever, and I discovered The Cribs!

  • simply amazing!!!

  • Excelent!

  • how old is this band? i just discovered them last year and theyre pretty sick

  • @darrianjt Wikipedia

  • thank god he wan't strumming at around 1:06 !!

that would've been awkward for us all

  • love.

  • This band is awesome! :D I recently started checking out indie bands so, if you want, give me some recommendations :D

  • @GuzonjinaCerka The Libertines. The Strokes. The Coral. Dirty Pretty Things :)

  • @jjoohhnn6023 Thanks xD. I'll check them out.

  • @GuzonjinaCerka Don't listen to the Libertines. Try the Arcade Fire, The Silversun Pickups, The Soft Pack, The New Pornographers, Television and The Raconteurs....afterwords listen to real indie (try the Elephant Six bands) and not bands that Pitchfuck Media supports and are therefore somehow labeled Indie.

  • @halifuckinfan Alright. Gracias x]

  • @halifuckinfan If it makes you feel better, Pitchfork loves to jerk off to a number of bands under Elephant Six. And Arcade Fire, The New Pornos, and The Soft Pack are all on "indie" labels. Music is music, cut the bullshit branding.

  • @Melodicnoisepop There is a sound you would call Indie. None of those bands are by default indie, I was giving suggestions in the vein of the "Indie" sound that weren't completely overrated. Overrated, but not the fucking Libertines.

  • @halifuckinfan arcade fire is just as overrated pal. like buddy said, music is music.

  • @tengo2cojones Never as much as the Libertines. You want "Indie"? I give you bands that don't suck in said "genre." Clear differences between Canibal Corpse and the Bee Gees, only similarity IMO? They both suck. Suck isn't a genre yet.(?) So I'd say CC is metal and Bee Gees are pop. It lets you know that the bands are considered grouped (or in the case of my example different).

  • @tengo2cojones If Arcade Fire are overrated then you eat your own shit. And I know you aren't that stupid, pal.

  • @Melodicnoisepop But labels need to exist, otherwise what would we call thing. If we didn't label the sky above us "sky", what would we call it? Nothing? So under your logic, if labeling is bad, then we should just not name anything and just point at things which would make communication that much harder. Labels are necessary for us to identify things. Without them, we'd be lost.

  • @RedCrescentDemon It has a label, its called "music". That's enough.

  • Johnny marr GET OUT !!

I miss Jarman Family (sorry everybody)

  • @WolfAttackFromSpace you sir, are an idiot.

  • I love his smile at 1:55

  • Fucking amazing

  • Didn't know there was a video for this song. I remeber driving around with my band blaring the new fellas album and all of us singing along to this song. We've called an island's view and we'd love to hear what cribs fans think of us. If your interested in sparing a bit of time just search:

    An Island's View - I'm a Jacqueline

  • whats with all the fucking hate!? lets talk about how amazing this video is!!

  • Comment removed

  • @WolfAttackFromSpace a female faggot, interesting ^^

  • @WolfAttackFromSpace XD the comment is nearly a year old, you noob

  • I just love the video.. I'm going to use this chance to mention he who should not have been named. You look at his music videos, and it's pictures of him walking around with his mouth open, a couple of girls nearby and some random bowling alley or movie theater. This is bursting with life, creativity, and it's very inspiring. Plus the song sounds great.

  • fucking classic song

  • i really cant get enough of this song! omggg (L)

  • 17 persons haven't no sense of music!

  • I like Drinking Beer

  • This and Be Safe.....WOW....they were so great when I saw them.

  • First heard about the Cribs when Ryan was on Nevermind the Buzzcocks, the one with Ricky Wilson presenting.

    Funniest Buzzcocks ever.

    Ryan is hilarious.

The Cribs are now one of my favourite bands.

  • @Grymligast

I remember that, RickyW said that The Cribs were one of the most underrated bands ever... still kinda true with only 304,099 views...

  • LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEE IT

  • manchester bands r the best........ ever

  • @MrYooonooo Yeah, they are good but nothing beats Yorkshire bands... like this one.

  • @MrYooonooo

Irrelevant post as The Cribs are from Wakefield in Yorkshire.

And before you say "Marr is from Manchester", Marr wasn't in the band when this fantastic song was created.

  • @LAW12W my mistake pal, quality song though

  • @LAW12W So your from wakefield then? lol

  • @LAW12W isnt marr irish?

  • @PBL187

His parents are Irish, but he was born and raised in Manchester.

  • This song and this band is frikin amazing. I hate how small bands hardly ever go recognized. D;<

  • @previewedmusic The Cribs are underrated but small? They have played loads of sell out shows, although not at stadiums still at pretty big arenas, and NME pretty much loves them. Or they did before they moved on to something else, like they always do :)

  • i hate the fact that cribs arent massive,it just goes to show.american idol tosspots .

  • @stankler its better that they arent massive.means that a whole bunch of knobends wont get into them

  • The Cribs are definitely underated to the point is criminal..
