Tommyknocker is a great brewery, maybe this Oak was a bit off...but their Pick Axe Pale Ale is awesome, my personal favorite. I used to live in Denver, the brewpub is 20 minutes west of Denver or so...in the hillls......Shame this got a bad review.
no, not the chocolate bock, the Double Bock - part of their new Imperial Series. I've had the DB and the white and they were both pretty good. Will try to the imperial stout next.
Sorry to hear about the Echter. that IS a good Hef. Good starter hef. I'd recommend you try the Brooklyner-Schneider hopfen weiss if you can find both versions.
We liked their imperial white a lot. We were lucky enough to attend the launch party during Philly Beer Week :) Actually, we tried all three, but the Imperial White really stands out.
Well, it's not a double, but check out the Eggenberg Urbock - it's insane. Double... try out Ayinger Celebrator Doppelbock, or Abita Brewing Co.'s Doppelbock. Abita is in Utah, and Ayinger is in Germany, so I don't know about west-coast distribution.

You guys should try the Sam Adams Imperial Double Bock - half a pound of malt per bottle.
Had this review been sitting on the shelf for a while? Johnny is wearing a sweater.
Sorry to hear those beers weren't that great.
Are you guys going to review those two other Mendocinos and/or the Julius Echter?

We tried the Sam Adams Chocolate Bock - and didn't like it, as I recall. That was episode... 50 actually.
Yeah, we have some archives ;) Although, a few weeks back it was actually cool enough for a long sleeve shirt!
Unfortunately the Julius Echter episode got f-ed up video wise, so we probably - PROBABLY - won't be airing it. However, we really liked it!

What double bock would you recommend?
