  • Thank u so much - Im planning one and I wish to do it right. I'll be studying it.

  • Great job indeed, but next I wanna hear you do holy wullys prayer.

  • This is excellent, a lot better than all these old fogies that try to exaggerate their accent. Good lad.

The "withered rash" bit was a bit camp mind, but a very good rendition. 10/10.

  • Very good. I watched this before I started learning it. Finally 4 days later I think I'm there. Will I manage it in front of a table full of people next week? Time will tell. Just watched this again and got more inspiration.

  • Thanks, I think I can actually learn this now.

  • Wow,- great...... any chance you do an Ode in Edinburgh in 2011?? Cheers

  • Very good...and you made me quite hungry. LOL

  • :) Best rendition I've heard on here so far.

Still some parts were too 'modern' I think, but good job!!

  • Ode to accent :)

  • One of the best on youtube for sure - superb!!! 5 stars!

  • Pretty good... but... ragout must ryhme with sow, which must ryhme with stew, which must ryhme with spew... therefore sow has to be pronounced soo! Just my opinion mind! ;)

  • Nicely done.

  • Close - you really need to hear someone from Ayr do it. Someone from Dumfries would be good too. Scottish accents are not all created equal...

  • brilliant

  • Beautiful job!!! can you come join our performances? we're looking for a good poet....

  • Yes, if it's in Scotland

  • I thought that might be so. I'm in Ottawa, Canada. - with no Scottish accent : ( I guess I'll just have to train someone here ... wish me luck!

  • Verra gweed fur aa aat!

  • Was asked to give an "Address" and was desperate to get some guidance, as a non-native speaker. Your rendition is great. Thanks.

  • 10 out of 10 just the right amount of smedum

  • Great job! PS: You're gorgeous! ;-)

  • possibly the campest effort at the Ode I have ever heard. the last line " GIE HER A HAGGIS" was like Dale Winton saying " Bring on the wall"

  • i like your teeth...bye

  • There is a bottle of Scotch waiting for you in heaven....

  • Great job! You will be our guest of honor if you ever make it to one of the Burns Suppers of Abilene, Texas!

(We'll do our best tomorrow night without you...)

  • Just came from the Burns night at St.Andrews in NYC, I luckily got to read A Mans A Man for A' That. Great job I wish you were doing he Ode instead of the Fanny we had he ran the emotional gamut from A to B. Happy 250th Burns night brother.

  • Sound work big man .I 'll be doing a wee amateur recitation the day ..and this has been of enormous assistance. All the best and Slainte`.

  • you do your country proud

  • Pretty good son, just remember ragout is supposed to sound like "rag-ooh" and stow a soo should also rhyme with spew.

  • Thanks and I appreciate the advice, and I've thought about that - but i think it's a slant on the french (I'm a french speaker) to deliberately mis-pronounce how they would say it and that way it rhymes with how we say sow - as in female pig.

    I'm a french speaker.

  • @duncs21 but the scots pronunciation of sow in this poem is "soo" as in 'rag-ooh', spew and view. The rest of the stanzas / verses are all exactly the same way.

  • @mickster69 Exactly! Was going to post the same thing.

Also duncs21...it's not Ode to a haggis. The correct title is Address to a haggis

  • @Chewy7575 actualy the correct title in the complete works of Robert Burns is "To a Haggis"

  • Good job man!!

  • thank you for putting this up!!!!! reminds me of the last burns night i had with my grampa xx

  • Well Done.

  • Yo!I didn't understand a single word.....but 5+ for presentation! :)
