The Vintage Modern isn't easy to set up like any other amp... thats the problem :) many people think it's trash when they try it for 5-10 min's.. you need to take the time to play this amp to know it's true potential :) believe me, i own one to :)
Nice geetaring there! The VM is like the best thing since sliced bread! And that mid boost... best thing i ever bought!~ Turn it up to nice for true wailing though!
Keeley modded SD-1 infront. The guitar was a Ibanez RG 2570 with a Dimarzio Evo 2. Neck is the stock pickup. I have an old Rocktron Intellifex in the loop with some delay, reverb and chorus. The cab is the VM 4x12 with the greenbacks. I use an SD-1, level cranked, gain low or off and tone knob at 1:00. The amp... reverb off, Bass at noon or a little less, mid 10:30, treble 3:00, high dynamic range, mid boost in, detail at 4:00, body 8:30. Now these are at lower volume settings.
@yngzaklynch hehe nice man! i have a carvin bel air and i use a combanation of the satchurator and the super overdrive togethor and.. well i think i come pretty dang close to your tone but i try to get close to paul gilberts tone pretty nice man :)

You guys are wayyy to kind. I grew up in the 80's and that guitar style, for better or worse, just stuck. Out of 256 views you 3 people didn't cringe. Seriously thanks for the cool comments.

How would you compare this amp to a silver jubilee? I want a new head, i have an '83 jcm 800 2204 now. I'm thinking VM 2466 or silver jubilee.

The vintage modern is my favorite Marshall, it isn't all grindy and high pitched, it can be smooth and boomy. :D

How did you tighten up the gain? Today i was at GC, and the gain sounded like absolute trash. Or is it that you have it cranked?

Oh and as far as the Keeley modded Boss SD-1 I crank the level, have the gain low or off and have the tone knob at about 1:00.
