I guess Tool are also fans of MBV. No band sings another band as their support act unless they've had a listen to their music and they actually like the music they're playing. Otherwise they'd be no point. So I guess Tool, unlike their dumb-ass fans, does like the music that MBV plays.
Everytime they talk about a new album, they just look at each other as if there is an inside joke along the lines of, "yeah right that is never happening", lol. Sometimes I wonder what is better, quantity or quality, Loveless has me leaning towards the latter.
yeah, i was at that show in nj where mbv opened for tool, and those people were straight up rude, no facts need to be checked there, unless you want to check the mud that was caked on you at that shithole of a venue, if you were even there
what a bunch of total stars - noce to see they havent dissapeared up their own as es and are still down to earth and insecure. Cant wait to hear their new stuff. Getting flipped off by the fans of a band "tool" has got to be a compliment.
As long as Kev releases those remastered albums on time (August 23rd is the latest date), once he releases those, then I'll be a lot more optimistic regarding a third album. Haven't heard a bleep since they finished their tour regarding that third album..
Yea I was there @ APW. It was great cuz MBV didn't stop the "lift-off" noise-rock part of there ending til all the Tool fans put down there fingers haha! it was brillant!
If only the promise at the end (two new albums) was true. But judging from the look on Colm's face, he's thinking "I'll believe that when it's on iTunes..."
You gotta smile when Kevin says at 3:47 they'll definitely make another album. Oh, really? I thought that's what he's been working on for the past 18 years! OK, maybe 10 of those 18...
Nice to see NME interviewing a real band, instead of one of these shitty new bands who are in the limelight for a week before being forgotten.
Saw them live on the first Manchester date after reformation, and it was just mind blowing. Didn't wear earplugs, and I do have slight ringing. Mind you, standing basically on ear level (and next to) the drummer from Blood Red Shoes and some other loud gigs haven't helped ;)
I loved their Loveless Record. The fact that they haven't done anything since just happens! Look at The Cure after Head on the Door. It was a very creative 2 years back then but that doesn't mean it can be repeated. I'd just re-release some of it live, throw in a couple new songs and keep making money touring but hopefully at half volume. I think the decibels are taking years off their looks and brains from their fans.
Actually Disintergration is a great record. For me it falls right behind Head on the Door. Has something to do with how innovative Head on the Door was for 1985. Disintergration was the last great LP, every LP after had its share of great songs but that became the exception.
Kevin has this weird accent that sounds slightly more Irish than anything else, so does Colm, but he speaks in little bursts... it's weird hearing him speak for the first time
You could say that Kevin has this Americanized, Pan-United Kingdom accent. He was born and raised in New York until 10. Lived in Ireland until 20, and lived in London for most of his adult life.
Colm had quite the Irish brogue, but it had softened dramatically after living in the US for several years.
Don't wait for these guys to make and album, it will simply take FOREVER....it is just how they are...get on with making your own music, do it for your soul...
with all respect to my bloody valentine, it was mostly financial issues that tied their hands after loveless was released. other than their two bigger releases (loveless/isn't anything) they've released a slew of EP's (strawberry wine, glider, ecstasy, etc.) throughout their duration as an active musical outfit.
and don't you find it mildly exciting that they're such perfectionists? or, maybe just kevin shields is the perfectionist. it keeps me on my toes for what their NEW ('09) sound is like.
The thing about looking odler than age...actually in real life they look alright, but yeah, warning! Stay away from the drink and drugs if you wanna stay looking young and unlike these guys, go to the gym...exercise etc...
I dunno - they both look pretty good for, what, their mid-40s? Also, a bit sheepish about how long it takes them to do anything, and a nice look Colm shoots Kevin about how "underplayed" their songs are.
I know they talk about putting out another album with smiles on their faces...but c'mon guys! Get to it! We miss your music already! Fuck today's music, gimme some MBV!
The dynamics between Kevin and Colm are interesting in this interview. Colm seems like the little brother who can't quite agree with everything Kevin says, but he's diplomatic about it.

Okay, firstly, Colm is enjoyable to look at. Since all those years, yeah he's gotten older but still has an amazing face.
Kevin...if his hair was fuller and not grayish, took his glasses off he'd look quite good...yet not as gorgeous as he was in the 90's.

They should have a 2008 photo session. Then we can see the whole band and judge their aging process.
