  • Wonderful stuff!!!

  • these guys are an "aquired taste"......and its really awesome once youve aquired it!!!!

  • amazing!!!

  • Simply Amazing.

  • it's fucking awesome how they have a kookaburra's call throughout the song - i love how they do that, it adds just this little bit extra, and makes you go, "that's fucking great". has anyone else noticed it?

  • love this! wish his voice a little louder though. Gets a little lost under the beat.

  • @iloverobotpancakes I think thats what makes this song awesome. His vocals (which are an acquired taste) blend well with the atmosphere of the song. Yeasayer just plain rules.

  • i wish this was the version on iTunes. the one on iTunes doesnt sound half as good.

  • See ya"ll in 13 days. Welcome to Houston!!!!

  • They need to play good music like this on the radio.

  • LOVE LOVE the drums...

  • Does anybody know what kind of bass Gary Oldman from True Romance is playing? I think the names on the headstock but I can't make it out

  • @weaoth1 G&L something. Google his name Ira Wolf Tuton and you'll find he talks about it in interviews.

  • who is that cute, cute guy in the plaid shirt - oh my gosh!

  • this is the 1st yeasayer song i've ever heard, am im surprised. i really like it!!

it has a real Genesis/Peter Gabriel feel too it, but with a modern twist.

very good =) im off to listen to more =)

  • perfect

  • @Thetrondancer Made a Yeasayer dance video. tHmpuGND57M

  • I love this song, but their album work doesn't do it for me

  • these guys are definitely on a rise to the top.

  • oh the musicality... much appreciation for real, true musicians

  • I couldn't love a band anymore than I love Yeasayer. They are such charismatic and accomplished musicians and performers, everything is so perfect.

  • yeasayer is like a indie version of Take That.

  • just ... wonderfull...amazing.....

  • The Shankar allusion is really apt, it's probably no coincidence I've got some Norah Jones material mixed in playlists featuring Yeasayer, and it hadn't occurred to me in any lucid manner before.

I must recommend the LaBlogotheque feature to anybody watching, it's a much better performance.

  • Throaty "un'-trained voice.

    It doesn't do it justice.

And the falsetto decreshendo's reek of disonance and poor articulation.

LISTEN TO THE song and you can see his voice is dwarfed by the bands beat.

    Its just bad!

Reflecting on the genre, and the band you can't truly say his vocals are good!

Please I beg someone to listen to the song and tell me that his vocals aren't un-berable and twisted. It hurts ,

and the worst part is he can sing well, or to the genre at least but chosse to do this!

  • @DoctorWha I agree that the LaBlogotheque Show performance exhibited a significantly greater degree of musicality and cogency. This video's production method and recording environment seem to have stripped much of the folk appeal and band dynamic.

However I think that emphasis in instrumentation is absolutely free to appropriation by design of the song. In this recording he does seem to be in some sort of vacuum both inspirationally and vocally.

  • @DoctorWha you're 100% wrong, he sings this song perfectly, his voice gives the song character, makes it unique and his own. his voice is up there with Spencer Krug if you have anything bad to say about Spencers voice then why are you listening to this music anyway

  • @bennettjon10

    hahah!

  • @DoctorWha You miss the point when you critique his vocal skill. People don't like this song because he is using all the correct conventions and classical methods and "falsetto decreshendo" this and articulation that.

It's a dude singing a song that means something to people who don't mind being human, and he sings it from the heart, and that connects with people. It's a musical expression, not a test of skill. If this is how you judge music I feel for you because you are missing out on so much.

  • @diseaser

    Dude I feel the music.

    Believe me

I like this song just not the singer!

    Thats it!!!!!!

  • @diseaser :)

  • @diseaser Quite possible that this is the best youtube comment ever posted.

  • @diseaser Right fucking on man! I Love you!

  • @DoctorWha sounds fucking excellent to me matey!

  • @daftrhetoric

But honestly I think that you need to review it a little more.

I truly believe that Keating, Tutor and Wilding are exeptional musicians, and possess immense talent, but this song does no have the vocal prowess that I'm used to from them. Have you seen the Blogotheque show they do? Now thats what I'm talking about! that showed their adaptive skill but this ! Firstly, the lead vocals are immensly out of key and without any sort of real reflective reverb to enhance his naturaly...

  • @daftrhetoric

    I'm done with this!

    But Ok here it is.

I really think that several Brooklyn based bands have articulated the experimental/ambient Shankar influence all ready well enough. I mean, i know that Grizzly Bear is a lot more pop-ish in their rendition but damn, you need to make the song soar to a little more of a melodic tune, damn it! Look I shouldn't have said those angered comments but, FUCK it hurts to see back lash when people can't Listen. I know that people like different music...

  • @DoctorWha Someone needs to learn a little about style.

  • UHH MAY ZING

  • i would like an album of songs like this. jungle sounds, live takes, studio footage, music for a good cause.

  • I got here from Childish Gambino - Get It

  • how RIDICULOUS

  • 1:30 "so you think you can solve all your problems by yourself" best sounding lyric of the song

  • SO DOPE

  • sick dudes

  • Gary Oldman from True Romance on the bass.

  • @jables8806 for some reason i thought gary oldman was that little dead dark dude

  • @jables8806 Don't make fun of Lieutenant Dan!

  • @jables8806

    What's a Drexl?

  • @jables8806 brestuses!

  • astounding..........his voice is like instrument all by itself

  • The beat is sick.

  • any idea on what brand those gold headphones are?

  • @TheDoyleExperiment Look like AKG's

  • <3 s chris keating

  • i was wondering when he was going to play that bass

  • My mother always said "If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all." IMO, this should be a rule of Youtube. Quit pointlessly making negative comment on videos you don't like, if you don't like them then just don't comment. It's. That. Simple.

  • These guys are good.

  • Bring back that dummer, gents. See you on George St.

  • All my radio preset buttons fell off my car stereo except for one, its programmed to 89.3 the current!

  • oh my god, these lyrics are fucking retarded! and the music blows too. i'm astonished i made it that far into the video. spacemen 3 are the greatest!!!!

  • @clockworkscott Odd Blood's a LOT better than this. Check out Ambling Alp and ONE; they've matured a lot, and are therefore more accessible.

  • is an awesome song seen where can i download though cant find anywhere aaaaaaaaaargh helpme pleease :) xx

  • I like it when the guy was like "why do they call you the kidder?" and then the dude was like "it's because I like to kid around." and the other guy was like "oh." that's my favorite part. I love yeasayer!

  • I've been wondering for long time: what do they listen in their headphones?

  • @ArMaLiTe14 Llkely a click track (metronome) and some of the other instruments or themselves. For instance, singers usually have a good amount of vocals in their monitor so they can tell if they're on key. Whereas a drummer might have no drums in his headphones, just some bass and vocals. It's all dependent on the musician.

  • 49 people think they can saawwwwlllvvvve their problems by themselves.

  • Okay, so who else thinks he looks like Brad Pitt's character Mickey from the movie Snatch?

  • I wish people would just stop arguing on youtube. Literally every video I've ever viewed on here has petty arguments on it.

  • @fdutjklr Agreed. Youtube is like one big high school.
