When you play TBoGT on mulitplayer you get a pistol, knife and parachute and they respawn if you land somewhere without dying :) You don't get them on normal GTA or TLAD

It puts a parachute on you if you use one of the teleports to a building roof (only about 9 of those on the map), or get in a helicopter.

Otherwise you'll have to do it manually by selecting it as you would a weapon then pressing RT, which is quite easy to forget to do.
