  • Is a pitty, when i was a child, i have dreams whit this game.

  • If you count it,Sonic Spinball did have characters from Sonic satAM.

  • TherealRNO and all others complaining about "Speed isn't everything",yes, that is very true, but it was always a part of the game so if this was all it was it would be odd... Sonic did HAVE some speed.

  • This looks pretty dope. I think it's time that they make a SatAM Sonic game, since they seem to put so many past games and characters from 15-20 years ago in the limelight all because of the virtual console/xbla arcade/psn.

I wouldn't mind playing this game on the 3DS because the stealth elements could actually be cool.

  • I want this game. It looks amazing to me. Im sure there were fast party like in the cartoon. I mean..come on! Why did they cancel it? T^T

  • This would have made Sonic start to die during the 16 bit console days.

  • The hit game based on the hit cartoon series based on the hit game... Wait, what?

  • 4 people got shot by a swatbot

  • I'd hate to say it, but this actually looks fun.

  • Looks pretty fun. :)

  • Weird, this actually looks like a decent sonic the hedgehog game. Now I've seen everything!

  • Ah, still love it... Things to observe:

1 - They should make 1 seamless screen rather than segments (as you can see touching the edge of the screen loads another screen segment)

2 - Stealth stages (slow movements) and Running stages (get the F* outta there, run sonic run!!)

3 - THE GAME NEEDS TO BE REMADE, FINISHED, REMASTERED!!! Anyone know C programming? No Assembly required ;D Works on the Motorola processors.

  • @lolanimations i'm actually working on one. i just need someone to take the time to watch ALL Sonic SatAM episodes and also render graphics.

  • ... Spike blast is the shit.

  • This looks like it would have been a boring game. SEGA always trying to fix what's not broken.

  • it's like sonic meets tomb raider!!!

  • is thier a rom of this anywhere?

  • @robabill I dont know but it is a very early prototype of Sonic extreme, so there might be a rom

  • @kindlylove400 this demo was run on a Commodore Amiga computer, since it used the same processor the Megadrive/Genesis used. also, it was actually 32-bit!

  • @ct1660 Thanks for the info. I didn't know it was run on a computer :P

  • @kindlylove400 @kindlylove400 Peter Morawiec was the one who wrote the Sonic SatAM demo (AKA Sonic-16), besides the VERY early Sonic Spinball demo (Sonic Pinball).

you can see the interview here:

    info(dot)sonicretro(dot)org/Peter_Morawiec_interview_by_Sega-16_(April_20,_2007)

  • fuck you haters i would of creamed myself if this game came out when i was like 10-11. Satam was awesome and i always wanted a 2d game with the characters from the show/comic. I dont care about the lack of speed it still looks a lot better then sonic spinball (which replaced this idea) and sonic spinball was pretty damn fun BUT this would of been my dream genesis game.

  • @rwk1983 I agree with you! SatAM was the fucking SHIT when we were kid's! I loved Bunny the most. <3

  • This game would've killed the whole entire franchise.

  • I heard this was an early stage of X-treme. Interesting how a game based off a cartoon adaptation can change into a game from the game continuity. I'm glad this was never made. SatAM and any non-game continuity should stay on TV or in books.

  • They should have made an AoStH game.

  • @hall9111: No he wasn't. Even in the earliest games, you couldn't just blaze through everything, because you could lose lives (in the form of rings with the Mario coin sound-effect) if an enemy took you by surprise by popping out of the ground, out of the air, or through walls. So whilst speed was a key element, three elements of SatAM--time, technical strategy and smart thinking played roles as well.

  • @TherealRNO Yes, you did have to slow down and pay attention sometimes, but you still had speed. It was a healthy mix of strategy and SPEED. Having a slow Sonic game is like having a Mario platformer where you can't jump, or a Megaman game where you can't shoot! It's a time honored character trait. Mario jumps, Megaman shoots, and Sonic runs fast. Leave the stealth stuff to Solid Snake.

  • @hall9111: In the show and comics this game was based on, Sonic couldn't just barrel through everything. And were he real, he couldn't do it in reality either. Sure, running fast is Sonic's main trait, but it is not all he is. Strategy and timing--stealth elements--are a part of his character, as well, because if he just ran through everything, it could cost him, in more ways than one.

  • @hall9111: FYI. Like Mario, Sonic was--first and foremost--a platform game, which meant that other elements besides speed were needed as well. But since it seems that 98% of the fans think that all Sonic is would be a blue speed demon, the trailor for this game (based on the better of the classic Sonic cartoons) was most likely just showing newer sleath-related levels that went along with the traditionally speed-focused levels Sonic is known for.

  • This game looks cool.

  • this was really cool to know, and its easy to tell why it was dropped, the very fact that even in SatAm the very idea of sonic and SPEED is just purely ingrained, take out this concept and you dont have a game worthy of a Sonic title, prolly would have been an early indicator that the sonic franchise is dying.... now compare this fact to recent titles...

  • @opticghost: Or not. SatAM rocked & even in the early games, you couldn't just speed through everything, for you could accidentally make a misstep or be taken by surprise by an enemy, which means that strategy & timing played vital roles as well. And since SatAM mixed the timing & strategy elements--usually done by Sally--with the speed many fans associate with Sonic, this game would've no doubt employed both stealth & speed levels to make all gamers & Sonic fans happy.

  • @TherealRNO thank you for taking the time to write out this wonderfully long message saying nothing. as much as that message meant to you, this game still failed while it was in the works. your telling me that you can look at this game, about your consoles main mascot, realize without a doupt the gameplay is radically different, and thereby making no assumptions about the risk of the gamers outlook on the entire genre? this game didnt make it past first level, dont place so much hope in it

  • Since when did Sonic become Solid Snake?

  • CRAP

    Sonic is not Metal Gear

  • It looked awesome to me. ^^

  • Looks pretty bad.

Sonic is about the speed. :/

Mind you, if the character was replaced, it coulda been cool. Sonic just doesn't fit into this type of game.

  • Considering the fact that Sonic SatAM featured stealth more than Adventures or Sonic X? It fits fine in that universe.

Maybe having Sally do that stuff...

  • I honestly don't think this would have been a good game. It's a game based off a cartoon that has no resemblance to the game series it's based off.

  • bangin tune :)

  • This actually looks like it would have been really interesting.

  • The animation is horrible go back there and do better. Light comera spongebob

  • Glad SatAM stayed a cartoon show. Apart from the titular character, it barely resembled the game universe in the slightest, which always bugged the hell out of me as a kid.

  • sonic metal gear

  • @SuperSyeed Actually this made me think of Metal Gear alot,

just more cartoony... wait, more realistic

  • @Sauceyjames HAR HAR HAR! Giant fucking Nuclear Wielding robots are realistic ha haha! Dummy!......wait what? but seriously though it reminded me of metal gear solid too ^^

sonic has gone all Solid Up peoples Asses!.....eeewww...

  • WTF did I just watch...well this would have been a good spinoff game at best.

  • Metal Gear Sonic

  • State-Of-The-Art ... ANiMATiON

  • I looks really well animated.

  • yo link broke fool

  • cool impressive info

  • It's not about lack of speed, it's about lack of pace. It moves all too slowly.

  • yeah, current sonic games have this problem too, but moving too quickly instead

  • this game really didnt look all that fun at all... the only good part would have been that sally was in the game.

  • Remember that this was probably the early stages and was only made to show the difference in the fast Sonic levels and the stealth levels, so all those against this STFU!

  • LiamReproductions and all others complaining about "lack of speed". Get this through your ignorantly stupid skulls...Sonic was NOT all about speed.

  • @TherealRNO, YES HE IS! There is a reason for Sonic's idle animation(where he taps his feet and glares at you), If you were playing a Sonic game and NOT RUNNING, then you were missing the point.

  • @TherealRNO ... Dude. His name is "Sonic" for a reason- get THAT through your, ahem, "ignorantly stupid skull". If the series wasn't about speed, please, pray tell, what was it about?

  • @IceFactor52: I conceed that speed is one of the blue blur's defining traits, but it wasn't the end-all-be-all, as timing and strategy also needed to be implemented. Anyway, the whole "story" was about a blue hedgehog saving his friends and protecting his home from a machine invasion of nature's beauty, courtesy of the dark side of humanity known as Dr. Robotnik/Eggman.

  • @TherealRNO yeah in sonic the hedgehog the first one you can speed up like horseshit from a cannon but it will just kill you if you do! and these days with sonic games like sonic unleashed in the normal stages there really is not much thinking needed. just run run and for the love of god dont let that analog stick slip to anywhere but up!

  • From what I heard, this game, if it was approved, was never intended to be slow. They only made this in about a week or so. Other than that they probably didn't have enough time, maybe. Also they have intended to give a fast pace but it was hard for them, at the time, to have the camera follow Sonic. I read this in an article on a site.

  • looks like from the show

  • I'm guessing that there would have been fast parts as well. In the show that this is based off of, Sonic couldn't just speed through everything, so stealth segments would make sense.

  • Colonel...I've infiltrated the base. It looks like the enemies are equipped with Motobugs and Orbinauts.

  • I hear you. And stop thumbing him down, faggots.

  • no realism

    no speed

    no badniks

what kind of sonic game is this...sonic 06

  • That game would be super AWESOME!!!

  • METAL GEAR Sonic...

  • "fastest thing alive"

    what a joke

  • First reaction was, "Why the hell is sonic doing acrobatics? He's supposed to run!"

  • Sonic Xtreme?

  • no, this isnt sonic xtreme

  • I am thinking that this is the setting for the intro of satam "fastest thing alive"

  • Sonic gear solid

  • OMG WOW!!

THis is NOT A HACK! However, It looks very scripted-ey.... which means it looks like it was simply animated or something.... maybe not though.

OMG WOW Looks great! Wish it was real

  • It is real. It just never got past the pitch stage.

  • looks like... well not very good to say the least

  • looks like its not to fast...even for a sonid game its not fast

  • cool

  • Built on the Ninja Turtles Arcade engine.

  • Remember that this was probably the early stages and was only made to show the difference in the fast Sonic levels (sure, there would be some "original" Sonic sequences where Sonic would go fast, but he cannot be fast all the time, because it is when he goes fast and doesn't think straight that he can miss something important & thus, it could cost him) and the newer stealth levels.

  • I want this game...

  • Sonic....throwing...his...life..o.o?

  • OMG! Evil Samus!

  • BUZZSAW!!!

  • It also feels like some people are just never satisfied. Alright sure if you don't like Sonic's more recent games then that's fine, it's your opinion, but it seriously feels like the old-school Sonic fanbase is just so insatiable.

Getting back on subject, this game looks like it could have been pretty cool if it were released. I think the reason why it was canceled is because Sega said somewhere they don't want to make a Sonic game based on one specific piece of other Sonic media.

  • i'd play it xD

  • this game looks like it was for the Philips CD-i.

  • *looks at related videos* Gee where'd you get that idea lol. Actually, you've got a point there.

  • this is a sonic xtream game, there where 3 ver. and none relised

  • Looks awesome, I loved the Sonic SatAM cartoons with a passion. It took a darker, more serious side to the series, it was something I could get into and explained a lot story wise. The fact is, the Sonic games were 2D platformers, it wasn't always about speed, and if you blazed through every single stage without worrying about it,you'd end up dying a whole lot. This game looked good, and I think it could have been a good change of pace. It is nay sayers like you, who screwed that up for us.

  • Agreed. ;)

  • I agree too. People seem to constantly forget that Sonic is a platformer, not a "just keep pressing right and you'll get to the end of the level just fine!" kind of game (because then it'd be ridiculously easy). I think that most of the mainstream gaming media today is to blame for this because they're always like "we want more speed!" and "make Sonic go back to the old days!" when they seem to forget that if Sonic stayed exactly the same all these years it would have gotten boring eventually.

  • I loved the show and while this game does not look like a "real" Sonic game it could have become good.

  • Banner: You shut up. The game's weren't always about speed. Sometimes, you have to think with your head, which is the point of SatAM at times...Sonic couldn't just use his speed or he'd be roboticized or worse.

  • This is horrid. Too slow.

  • A game based on a cartoon based on a game... LOL

  • Yeah right, did you ever see street fighter the movie the game?? That shit was fucking crap

  • Nah lol, this doesn't look all that bad for a general megadrive game...

I wonder if this would've been put on Mega Collection or not, if it was released, seen as it's not exactly a "proper" Sonic game...

I suppose Mean Bean Machine was and that was based on the cartoon =]

In all seriousness, Sonic Unleashed innit.

  • had some interesting ideas and decent graphics. But the lack os speed is a problem though.

  • Metal gear meets Sonic...

    Sonic....SOnic.... SOOONNNIIIICCCCCCCCCC

  • wow looks pretty good, though not really much of a sonic game imo with throwing rings.

  • The graphics remind me of Comix Zone

  • Pretty but boring. It looks like Sonic's lost his speed!

  • What? No HUD? Blasphemy!

    JK.

  • its a beta

  • Metal Gear Sonic!

  • Metal Gear Sonic!

  • Looks cool.

  • thanx 4 the demo

i wish this was made as well as Sonic X-Treme

  • You hate Sonic X-treme though.

  • Hmm.. be the way this is Sonic Mars, before it was scrapped and became Sonic X-treme,

  • I would just LOVE this game! Are there any playable copies floating around somewhere?

  • not very fast but still very neat

  • Amazing graphics

  • I would certainly go crazy if I've seen this 10 years ago, still cool now but it looks way too slow for a sonic game

  • It looks interesting enough to me. Considering it's a Sonic game, I would still go shgdhfsdf over frustrating levels, regardless of how fast Sonic is in it or not.

  • A... stealth game? o_O

  • Wow, this game is definitely a lot slower than the other Sonic games, but it also looks really interesting, especially the bit with flattening against a wall. Metal Gear, anyone?

  • Looks like a 2D Metal Gear Solid game with Sonic.

  • this looks cool as heck!

  • Metal Gear Sonic!

  • ya lol!

  • should have known where all the good sonic games go... on the cutting room floor.

  • hey 4 u guys who whant an rom for this game just type it in google sega emulator or any agme system u can find all sorts of game dere and after downloading da emulator dowload da rom game

  • I grew up with that cartoon series. I'd have loved to have seen this game.

  • ME TO! : )

  • Not better, but Sonic could have made a cool beat em up. They would definitely need to make some improvements...ALOT of improvements. But it could have been a good game.

  • DBoy:Remember that this was probably the early stages and was only made to show the difference in the fast Sonic games (sure, there would be some "original" Sonic sequences where Sonic would go fast, but he cannot be fast all the time, because it is when he goes fast and doesn't think straight that he can miss something important & thus, it could cost him).

  • Damn, that looks stupid. The new sprites were really good, but the gameplay... No.

  • Woah! That looks so fun! I would have loved to of played it! I hope that there can be a rom for this game released on the web some day so that I can play it.

  • Woah, that looks awesome! The only thing that sucks is the complete lack of speed... And that title screen is hideous. :/

  • Wow, the graphics of this reminds me of Segasonic the Hedgehog! It would have been fun to have a game with the SatAM Sonic, since he's different from the "original". SatAM had a different concept, so the fact he's moving "slow" here seems to me like tactics since there's so many robots out. They did a lot of scouting and sneaking.

That was a treat, thanks for uploading it! I'll have to go check the site out.

  • Damn it! I wish this game was made! XD...That's awesome o_o

  • Wow awsome! Wish this game had been made. It would have rocked!

  • Looks awesome! If they HAD made it though I would have wanted Sonic to be faster, but then again maybe he was, that was only a small clip.

  • looks awesome i love the satam show.

  • Spinball was tedious and boring. This game was probably still in one of it's earlier developed stages when the final version would be much improved on.

  • Aw man, that game looked really interesting. It's sad that they cancelled it :(

  • Now this is way past cool. Why did they have to cancel what could of been an awesome game? And here Sally and the Swatbots were in this. Oh man just think of how fun this would of been.

  • No but I can think of how fun it would HAVE been ;)

  • ahhh my beloved SatAM...it would've been cool to have seen Sally become a female lead instead of Amy Rose.

  • This looks SOOO great!!

  • very cool looks way more fun then those other Sonic games,

  • There is a huge contradiction (or error) in this material! At the end of the video there's a text "STI November 1993". However, in the interview Peter Morawiec clearly says that Comix Zone was already released when they were developing the "unreleased Sonic game" for Saturn. And Comix Zone wasn't released until 1995! Is this a hoax or has someone made a mistake?

  • My guess is that this isn't the same game. This video does say "16-bit". Saturn was 32-bit.

  • WHAT, WHAT WHAT?! Sega were developing this and they gave us the other games instead?! There is something about that is messed up!

But, oh, man that would have been so cool if they had made it and Sally became a recurring character in the series. She would have given it more substance.

  • AW MAN!! I WISH THEY HAD MADE IT!!!

  • Whoa cool, I had no idea that they had been working on this kind of game.

  • Sonic looks really bad in the title screen but really good in the game, huh? Now I'm sad that the SwatBots never made it into a finished game, since they make such good video game enemies.

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Plus, why is the game called 'Sonic Mars'? Sonic goes into space or something?

  • This game doesn't look like a Sonic game to me. Maybe because he moves way too slow.

  • Then you shouldn't consider Sonic Spinball a Sonic game either :P

  • I don't even like Sonic Spinball.

  • Dude if this video is indeed official, with a little more work this game would've been sweet! I wish they finished this game, it probably wouldn't have been great but just the thought of a SatAM games is cool.

  • What the hell?! It's Metal Gear meets Sonic! And this is coming from a dedicated SatAM fan! But I like Sally appearing in the game.

  • Well, as a dedicated SatAM fan, you know that they did a bunch of sneaking around in the cartoon, so the MGS meets Sonic is a good way to make a SatAM game... ;D

  • Geez, louise! They should have made this game! It looks 1000x better than the recent Sonic games! Plus, it has Sally. Un-freakin'-believable. Well, it's nice to know they were at least considering it at some point. I always wondered, what with all those 90's cartoons-turned-to-videogames why they never did it with SatAM. ;D

  • this game doesn't look better then Sonic Rush or SatSR...atleast to me it doesn't.

  • Yeah, but you have to remember though. The technology of the DS is better than the Genesis. It's like comparing the NES to the N64 graphics wise.

  • When I say it "looks" "better" I mean it appears to be a better game in terms of enjoyability and gameplay and all that, not graphics. ;D

  • Yeah, that's what I mean, I wasn't talking about the graphics. The very slow gameplay doesn't look better to me.

  • Ohh, okay. ;D

  • Hmm, and do you think Sally might have become a recurring character in the games if this one had been finished and released?

  • If sales did well, who knows? ;)

  • That is quite possibly one of the coolest things I've seen.
