wow its good. good job i disagree wit McCain wit everything but i think he's know wut hes talking about on some issues but still like Simon said "you'll never be ready" to lead our country
Yes sir you are right. I don't know how the Republican will every take back the white house. The demographics of America has changed soo much and will continues to change in 2011. The traditional reliance of focusing on caucasian voters will be less and less effective as the years roll by. Eventually it will uselss and they will set themselves up for failure.
a ressession will be a good thing it will help people get more respect for money and stop feeding the fat cat corporations by paying £5 for a coffee in some flash little coffee shop that sells 1 pennies worth of rice for a tenner calling it sushi we live in a fucked up world time to get a grip
Blah, blah, blah.....garbage in, garbage out..on both of them....
The public should also be made aware that it is the government's illegal enforcement of the income tax that has destroyed America's industrial base, making America now totally dependent on the importation of foreign goods (on credit) and on the importation of capital, making America's forthcoming economic collapse all but inevitable.
Something is wrong with America when a plumber makes $250,000 for shoveling shit and the President of the United States makes only $400,000 for doing the same thing.
Joe does NOT make 250K+ *AFTER* expenses and deductions. It's NOT revenue that's taxed, but taxable income, which is gross minus expenses and deductions.
McCain is an idiot, but only idiot didn't already know that.
Actually business' revenue IS Taxed, every Quarter of every Tax Year. The amount is based projected earnings. My father was self-employed for a few years and the IRS was brutal. He paid taxes on Revenue, he paid Taxes on himself as his own and only employee, and he still had to pay his own Personal Income Tax for whatever he had left over. He still made good money but he was billing for much, much more than he ever got to keep.
Only taxable income is taxed. Taxable income is what you have left over after you subtract all the expenses and overhead from the gross income (revenue).
If you're the employee of someone else, then yes, you only pay for your taxable income. But if you become your own employer, you have to pay for income (Revenue), every Quarter - 3 mos. And the amount is based on projected earnings that you give the IRS. If you low-ball too often, they'll Fine you at best. The rest is just like what I said before. I know about this, because I asked him about it in detail until he gave it all up in late-2006. I was 36 and thought about self-employment.
Oh, you're Canadian. I lived there for a while when I was in my 20s (Ontario). Yeah, the Tax rules are slightly different in the U.S. than there. Very similar in many ways but still different. And the IRS hasn't slept in that it changes their rules frequently to collect more Taxes. As far as I know, Canadians pay up-front and out of pocket what we rely on most employers to withhold for us, hence the W-2s and W-4s.
In Canada, regular paycheques have their tax withheld by the employer. At tax season you usually end up with a small tax return. Our 401K we call RSP's. Same type of setup there and *very* popular.
Both corporations and sole proprietors (self employed) pay tax on net income.
I would find it very hard to swallow if that's different in the US.
Some businesses have high overhead and some low. It'd be completely wrong to have to pay on revenue. Other Americans have told me it's the same in the US.
It's roughly the same deal up there as here. For most Americas, it's almost identical on the surface of it. But how many Americans do you know who run a fully legit business all by themselves? I don't mean hustling goods on eBay or paying immigrants for labor off the books kind of stuff. No cheating, skimming or other rackets. My dad was a fool perhaps but, he's an honest fool and he's not in prison. Just broke.
Keep receipts, list them on a spread sheet. Never ever ever never ever do your own taxes and always use an accountant.
I bet it's all the same in the US and Canada. I've compared Canada with Europe and it's pretty much the same deal there too. Similar business expenses similar writeoffs.
End of day, Joe is unlikely to ever make over 250K after expenses - even if he hires 1 or 2 other people.
I think one problem that many new small businesses owners have is that they don't fully grasp just what role the IRS will play in it. I have seen so many small shops go under within 1-year,2 at most. One common trap is that they start spending seed money and early profits before the IRS bills come. Then they're short of money to pay with if business isn't exceptionally good. They start borrowing from anyone until that stops too. "Going Out Of Business! 50-75% Off!".
But yeah, even when my dad's business was at its peak, he was seeing nowhere near $250k a year - more around $165k. But the man hardly slept and he averaged a minimum of 75 hours, 7 days a week. My mom was terrified he'd have a heart-attack from the stress of the deadline pressures. He didn't have a M-F, 9-5 type of experience. He hoped that the success would continue and he could cut back his hours and still make a living but, it didn't work out that way.

I'm sure that you're going to suggest that every bad is all Obama's fault. That's what you're after isn't it?
a1mint 3 years ago
Not at all. It was the IRS' fault, mostly. They have hungry mouths to feed in DC, NY, Saudi Arabia, etc.
