  • I have a couple questions about the CLS field if you don't mind...

  • @Trashjack101 Sorry. I rarely get to look at this site. Sure, ask away.

  • @ElCheapoFilms

I've been interested in doing CLS and the university I'll be going to in the Fall offers this. What's the money and average work day like? Is it super busy work or what? I've heard some people say it's kind of like being at the bottom of the hospital food chain... is that true?

  • @Trashjack101 Everything you ask about varies. You're not going to be rich as a a CLS, but you'll be comfortable. It depends on where you end up working and who you work for. Probably $38k to$50k starting out. Where you choose to work will determine how busy it is. Bottom of the food chain? Always remember that you're better educated than nurses. It won't be hard to do that because they ask fucktarded questions all the time. The lab is a humbler zone, it doesn't have the raging ego of nursing.

  • @ElCheapoFilms We're methodical and can stick to procedure so we tend to have good pitch-ins because we can follow recipes. You can get a variety of jobs. Analyzer sales, analyzer repair, traveling CLS temp work (travel and well paid), vet work, can branch into histology, you can specialize in different areas of the lab and supervise. You can rise to administration. It can offer you a lot.
