  • Ah! My teens! 1958~1964. Nostalgic tears! I had constructed a simple shortwave radio with three transistors. A good long-wire antenna and a ear-bud-phone were my lifeline to Radio Cylon, early morning, old songs package. K L Saigal Sahib was and is a CLASS in himself specially gifted by the Creator.

  • KLS THE ALL TIME GREATEST LEGENDARY SINGER OF INDIAN CINEMA

  • what a choreography...lol

  • IN THE NINETIES WHEN I WAS IN MY EARLY TWENTIES SAIGALSAHAB DID NOT IMPRESS ME MUCH BUT TODAY I THINK SOME SONGS OF SAIGALJI ARE TIMELESS AND I LIKE TO HEAR THEM AGAIN AND AGAIN

  • i also very much remember listening to the radio in the morning from sri lanka broadcasting corporation just before 8 am the last song of the hour would always be by K. L. Saigal

  • @ kiranvattarai! I was the young Recording Assistant in Radio Ceylon way back in the early seventies. I well remember playing this song over the airs repeatedly, at a listeners request programme.

  • Music has no boundries of age, religion or country. These r immortal compositions and we should hear tsuch songs with closed eyes bringing nostalgic memmories.

  • I feel good when i listen these song...

  • very very niece song by K.L.Sehgal

  • Bade shauqe se sun raha tha zamana

Tum kyon so gaye dastan kehte kehte !!!

  • Saigal was great. On radio ceylone 7.50 in the morning, I used to leave every thing just to listen his song. They used to brodcost one saigal song every day. This revived the old memories of the hostel days.

  • what is name of actors ? we know backgroung singer is mr.Saigal.

  • @varshawai1988

    Acted by Saigal himself

  • Could anyone point me to the right direction. I have noticed MM video karachi has got an awesome collection. Are these songs still available with them? Please give their contact address.

    Cheers

    Siddhesh

  • Thanks for this great video.Saigal always remains in my heart. His music is a class in itself and is above all other film music put together.

  • beautiful.

  • Awesome!

  • saigal the IMMORTAL

  • miss my dad so much.this was his fav song

  • excellent number liked by excellent people.....

  • I agree. I know those lilting singing and humming at home. Sweetest songs are those tell us of our saddest thoughts.

Love your Dad and His songs

    Vaidyanathan NJ USA

  • The opening bars of sitar are missing in the version, w notice when we hear the audio version. Could this be pl. corrected. A request.

  • I miss that too, but what to do ? This is how it is in this video. So sorry.

  • marvellous voice, saigal does not need back ground score..

  • this song is immortalised by pankaj babu's music which always touches heart, it has stood the test of time.

  • This song was my Dad's favourite song...I lost him in 1990 at the age of 71. May his sould rest in peace. .. when I listen to this song I feel his presence close to me.. I wish he was there to see such beautiful songs on Youtube.

Many thanks for uploading and May God Bless You.

  • @hifrancis make sure your kids hear this song . after all it was their grandfathers favourite. keep the tradition alive, bless you.

  • Now I read your response my dad was the same age He frequently listened to Saigal and I did with him too Now that he has passed away this brings back lot of wonderful memories I miss him By the way we do not understand the language but we had and we do have great feelings for Indian songs, music and cinema.

  • I also woud like to listen this song even when I am gone. Perhaps this is possible in the Gods place also

  • kaun hai ye heroine beautiful...

  • p malik recorded song in this film as well i think so

  • Excellent composition and well sung by saigal under the direction of Pankaj Mullick. This was sung by him also.

    Thanks for bringing old memories.

    G K Iyer

  • K.L Saigol is the legend.

  • All these golden old songs reminds me of my childhood days, when my father used to listen to radio ceylon every day. It is more than a year since my dad passed away. But whenever i listen to these songs, i feel his presence. Thanks a lot for the golden memories of that age & keeping my personal memories fresh forever

  • this song is 70 yrs old and i'm not even half of that. not even my dad is that old. my point is that good music knows no boundaries of age and race. i grew up with songs like these when my father would tune into Radio Cylon early in the morning. it's not only great song but also carries a lot of my childhood memories. ahh! will the singer and composer like this ever take birth in this earth.

  • at this point i will agree too... would sit in my dad's lap and listen to this music .... deff brings old good memories back

  • @kiranvattarai Same here .. Memories of my late father & his favorite music, I love these songs, the lyrics and simple melodies.

  • Listen to the mukhada of this and then compare "Aap ke Anurodh Pe Main Yeh Geet Sunata Hoon" !!! They are so identical!! Classic example of Raag Yaman Kalyan!

  • very true. Yaman has many colours this is also one of it.

  • Very sweet and tender romance. Beautiful.

  • What a shame? Pakistanis do not consider Saigal their heritage...He born and died when it was United India! and surprisngly lot of such examples!!!

  • I think the bigger problem is that music like this has been simply crowded out in the present generation with very rare exceptions, by the more modern scene. For those who follow this, K.L Saigol remains a class above irrespective of whether we are Pakistanis or Indians. I am a Pakistani and became a fan of Saigol through the records with my father. I also remember old Pakistani movies refering to Saigol. Only mullahs and their right wing followers do not consider him their heritage; their loss.

  • This song reminds me my first love...simply superb...

  • Awesome!

  • So let me get this straightened since I do not belong to that Golden generation. Possibly my grandparents & parents. So K.L Saigal Saheb was an actor as well & sang this song too. Was then Pankaj Mallick the music director cum lyricist.

  • yes

  • Pankaj Mallick was a singer and a music director. As far as I know he was never a poet.

  • Pankaj Mallick was a singer and music director but not a lyricist!!

  • An impoverished though straight-laced teacher, Ramesh (Saigal), is raising his teenaged sister Bimala (Akhtar Jehan). falls for Krishna (Sumitra Devi) beautiful daughter of a village zamindar. Ramesh declines marriage proposal when her father dem&s that he settle in his village.Instead, of teacher becomes a stage singer & moves 2 Calcutta, which is under attack by Japanese. In between taking cover from an odd bombing raid, Ramesh falls in love W/ Rekha (Ch&rabati Devi),star of a stage company

  • My wife's name is Nayana, so I always tease her saying 'mujhe to ek hi Nayana samhalen mein itni kathinai hoti hai, to agar do nayanaon se zulm hoga to kisiska kaisa hoga?'

    BTW who is the actress?

  • Actress is Sumitra Devi

I dont belong to this generation anywhere ( 60 yrs ago ) but my Grandpa and Dad love KL Saigal and Pankaj Mullick.I wish they had clearer sound track.

  • Lovely. How about uploading " Madhukar, Shyam Hamare Chor"?

  • Thank you from the bottom of my heart for loading rare piece of Hindi songs.

  • Was so much nicer when the actors just sat or stood there and sang instead of jumping around like monkeys now a days :)

  • aptkp: /:D /;D LOL !! Your comment is so appropriate & funny too. I really agree with you. I was looking 4 the song "Mein Kyaa Janoon Kyaaa Jadoo Hai" and stumbled onto this favorite golden classic. Thx 4 uploading Musique4Ever. Great Evergreen classic

  • I agree......btw did you ever find the original of 'main kya janoon'? Doesn't seem to be on youtube......

  • his voice did not need any instrument. His voice itself was like a full harmonic orchestra.

  • Thanks very much for uploading these rare songs. Also, could you upload
