  • wait this is only the p67 right not the p67A ?

  • Comment removed

  • What an odd bug

  • OCZ ssd shirt with an intel ssd in the system.

  • This is irrelevant now, right? It said on the site I ordered my mobo from that it had a new B3 usb chipset or whatever.

  • Got my Sandybridge i5 2500K running on a Z68 chipset. Does Z68 also have any issues?

  • @MaxPusch no

  • @MaxPusch Nope

  • I think they put to much sand on the system that's why its failing. lol

  • @Mr123pspfreak too much win maybe

  • most dvd drives dont work with SATAIII 6 gb/s

  • @uncommoncarp Because they don't need it, DVD optical drives don't even have full support for SATA I, and SATA I can be plugged into a SATA II or SATA III without a problem.

  • so is this why there is a low rating system score on the primary disk drive on WEI? i keep getting a common score of 5.9 on it with a SSD sata II.

  • @shyboy2cute Are you using a 32 bit operating system?

  • @klkl86 no 64bit WIN7

  • @shyboy2cute Thats because it's SATA II, SATA III is rapidly becoming the standard for high end storage, so WEI now looks for the major performance. For example, my 1TB SATA II drive only reads and writes around 70MB/s while my SATA III 2TB drive reads and writes around 190MB/s. Granted the higher data density means faster speeds, it still shows the doubling in performance, which is white the SATA II SSD is only a 5.9

  • @oTurtlezx Hard drives are not currently fast enough to saturate the sata II interface, so any speed increase that you're seeing is the drive itself being faster, not the interface. If you plugged your Sata III drive into a sata II plug, you'd get the same speeds.

  • @v12mini The flash cache present on the HDD can still benefit from the faster interface. I can unsure you. A WD Caviar Black(Performance series) 1TB 7200RPM 64MB cache SATA II was slower than a WD Caviar Blue("normal" series) 1TB 7200RPM 32MB cache SATA III, tested myself. Not a huge diference, but still present.

  • @leadpx It's still not worth paying extra for.

  • @v12mini I just answered to what he asked. I actualy have a Z68. P67 and H67 are starting to fade out. Asus doesn't produce many P67 based boards anymore, for example.

  • @v12mini An SSD not worth paying extra for?

  • @PhotoShopChannel SSDs are worth paying for.

  • @v12mini SSD's are ripoffs. $200 for 60 GB

  • @skronybonnie Lol no, you can get a 60gb SSD for $80.

  • @v12mini That is true, but I'd rather spend $80 on something different, all they really do is make you're computer boot faster and some other stuff.

  • @skronybonnie It makes literally everything faster. Don't trash it till you try it, and $80 is relatively cheap compared to what it's been in past years.

  • LOL I remember this now, I had a 4X HDD RAID 5 setup going and I had no choice but to use the SATA II ports :/ I was so worried at the time.

  • the asus sabertooth p67 has this issue?

  • @overcklockangel7 not anymore

  • @EmoticonMayhem What about the p8p67 b3 pro?

  • @UzumakiNarutoKun96 all of them are fixed now, this video is a year old

  • @EmoticonMayhem Ah good. Was worried there for a second lol.

  • ... ahahaha. Really.

  • -Gives tips about avoiding damage.

-Touches every freaking contact in sight.

  • @schredder12 you like trolling just for fun or are just just a faggot? I didnt see him touch a single contact at ALL. you sir need to shut your stupid little mouth because the onlything he touched was the sata ports...and no he didnt rum his gruby little finders all over it....

  • @SeanofZeus No? Go watch his memory unboxing videos please.

  • @schredder12 ohh im sorry is that this video? cause i could have sworn its not..and I have seen it...he touches the bottom of the modules which has no ill effects since the bottom doesnt conduct. in additions....who fucking cares he can do what he wants with hardware. obviously your just here to troll for no reason at all. this guy probably knows more about pc's than you wil ever know in your lifetime

  • @SeanofZeus Challenge Accepted.

  • this is like my exact set up O_o

  • How about Biosstar motherboard with Z68 chipset? I just bought last week. I jhope the bug is gone already.

  • @dakkeltibuto4466 you're fine. This bug was fixed a LONG time ago.

  • died on me.. p8z68V.. took my SSD with it too

  • It helped me alot. Thanks :D

  • "...degrade slowly and...DIE!" Love the pause and accent there.

  • I WANT YOUR CASE

  • this failure is fixed on b3 revision of p67 chipset right?

  • @avispa987 I hope so I just got an ASUS MAXIMUS IV Extreme like a week ago.

  • @avispa987 Yes and on z68

  • isnt the first time intel seel u bad chipset or micro. the i945/65 present in many laptop n cheap mobos are a pretty sht.

  • my p8p67 manual says Do not plug cd and dvd roms into the 6gb ports as they do not support ATAPI, Thoughts?

  • THE PROBLEM IS OVER. so many people asking if my motherboard will have a problem... but it doesnt exist anymore!

  • Can this happen on a ASUS Sabertooth P67?

  • Do i still need to watch out? since i just ordern ASUS Sabertooth p67 with i7 2600k processor :S

  • @bondoman16 I think they have fixed this issue already.

  • @THM0535 cause he gets paid to?

  • is that a "N570GTX Twin Frozr II/OC 1280MB VGA" Video card?

  • @Darkwatch386 Close, its a N580GTX Twin Frozr II/OC

or a N560TiGTX Twin Frozr II/OC 1280MB VGA" Video card

MSI didnt release a 570 Version

  • "These ones"

  • Mmmm, cougar power supply. Somebody knows, what is good equipment.

  • so the p67's are defective?

  • @arnarXx They're fixed now

  • @johnjiaojhu well if you care i was looking at a pre-built computer build that you can buy and the offer i was looking at just upgraded the motherboard from some standard one from this high end one and then i was this and thought they were trying to get rid of the defective p67's

  • Going to Sandy Bridge, goodbye E8400 !!

thank you very much for the tip, man !

  • do very old sata dvd drives work on sata2 or sata3 ports?

  • @gijsjeradijsje10 As long as they're SATA, they work on either port.

  • thumbs up if you thought he removed the sata port at 1:18

  • Internets

  • biggest faggot award ever

  • @RenegadeFury Congratulation to you.

  • scan.co.uk have loads of p67 chipset motherboards. is p67 better that X58?

  • linus please do a followup video on how to exchange a B3 version from the retailer.

  • Ah very nice haha

  • I have always hated Intel because you have to pay out a ton of money to get decent performance. I great performance out of AMD for less money

  • does this cover the Intel X58 Asus Sabertooth?

  • Doesn't the power cable look like a snake?

  • @alienROCKZ Yeah it does

  • @alienROCKZ i think it's a Cougar 80 plus silver PSU

  • @THM0535 sponsors...i'd guess.

  • @THM0535 Its called perks of the job tool

  • @THM0535 Cause he dont give a fuck

  • @THM0535 why do you wear a certain band shirt and listen to another? go fuck yourself

  • @overclockedamd123 Haha you mad bro? Calm down xD

  • @THM0535 Sorry i thought we was hear to watch the video, not a fashion show... lol

  • @THM0535 Freebie.

  • Linus is my favorite tech guy on youtube. His good mood gets me in a good mood :)

  • hey guys well i have a notebook and its one of the faulty one's. its a customized notebook hp dv6 quad edition. any ways i called HP because i got an e mail saying i can return it and they can fix the problem, but my question is what exactly will they do? and what if i just leave it like this? i wont be using my SATA/USB port that much only to charge mi ipod. but im scared i dont want my mother board to fry, or my processor or what not. should i send it to get it fixed?

  • THAT is why you should NEVER buy the newest technologies!

  • ýòî ÷òî îí òîëüêî ÷òî ñêàçàë?

  • You may also want to mention, as an option for users needing 3 or more ports, getting a pci-e sata plug box. This totally bypasses use of the sata II chipset.

As well, when boards are available they can be replaced last I heard from the manufacturers or the store you purchased from.

  • So I was just looking at the Sabertooth P67 board which is compatible with the standard i5/i7 sandy bridge CPUs...anyone know if those are also affected by this issue?

  • Question: 6GB/s is better than 3GB/s right? So why would I use those ''faulty'' Sata2 slots anyway when I can plug my harddrive and ssd in Sata3 slots? So if I'm right I really don't see what the problem is, since I never had more then 3 devices connected to my Sata slots.

  • Too much AMD fanboys...

  • can i just use a raid card ??

    please answer...

  • @Zodiark1593 - Yah, what alternative do You have?

  • Intel is loosing much respect here due to this ridiculous launch and subsequent recall that could have been easily avoided with better quality testing prior to release . . . .

  • Is this fixed?

  • @Cainori Certainly.

  • Good Job Intel. At least Gigabyte has launched new versions and offers replacements for buyers of the previous versions. I dont know about the other brands

  • I'm so please I don't buy intel... :3

  • @MrUnknown747 his proffession is : Fucking Genius epic tech guy

  • and then.... DIE! XD

  • intell messed up with mrs. sandy :) XOXO

  • Are you kidding me? OCZ SSD shirt and using a Intel SSD.

    lmao.

  • Impressive, Sir!

  • Your a smart man Linus!

  • Good job on the video, better than some tech shows on national tv.

  • How to Avoid the problem: Avoid P67 mobos until Intel gets their shit together!

  • you still get data loss on the sata 3 ports i dont care what intel says about it got my board and had prob right out of the box with the sata 2 ports and then switched to the sata 3 and stil have a good data loss on it as well so if you have one and can return it id do so they failed on this one big time

  • what is that stand the motherboard is on?

  • WHAT"S HIS PROFESSION CALLED !!!!!!!!!!!?

  • sigh was really looking forward to building a new system. is it advisable to wait or just buy a P67 board right now? I will only be using an optical DVD drive for the SATA 2.0 (which will be hardly even used although plugged in all the time) and have 2 harddrives (one SSD other SATA) connected to SATA 3.0.

  • Is it also effect on P55??

  • @TheMaxGor no

  • lol camera man is filming with iphone! i figured it out!

  • Intels Sandybrigde is kinda like black ops, they fail hard when realising it!

  • This event shows what a lame ass company rules the chipset and the cpu market....

Ripping off billions from it's clients and doesn't afford Quality Assurance team!

This is very very lame problem and if tested right it shouldn't have hit the market!

If that was your company guys you would be ruined but not intel that are the Google of the hardware meant to be dominant for life and they rule on you people!!!

  • Is this an international issue or is this North America only? I was checking the Asus site and it has the mobos listed under "Affected Product(s) in US & Canada", am I to take that us Europeans are not affected?

  • AMD will bulldoze the sandy bridge

  • don't buy mistake!!

  • So is it perfectly fine using the 6GB/s ports? I want to buy a P67 chipset but don't want to wait another 2 months to buy one. I will only be using 1 HDD and 1 Disk Drive so if I plugged them into the Sata 6GB/s ports would it be perfectly fine???

  • @gmodertom Yes. SATA III ports are unaffected by this fault and are completely backwards compatible with SATA II devices. The problem you may have though is trying to find anyone who will actually ship you a Sandy Bridge mobo right now. I am in a similar situation to you as I want to build an awesome new gaming PC based on Sandy Bridge, but may now have to base it on the older X58 chipset and an LGA1366 CPU.

  • @hedgehog1965uk Thats Awesome thanks for the Help :) Ive found a few retailers still selling them, you should be able to find one somewhere. Apparently intel are willing to replace any H67 or P67 mobo when they release the new batch with the fixed hardware in a few months time plus you will get at least a years warranty if it does go wrong so it doesn't seem that big of an issue to me.

  • I was planning on buying this with the same motherboard, Cant I just always use the SATA 3 Ports and have no issues? I'm only going to need the 4 ports and SATA 3 is faster anyways... I dont need to replace it if I am only using that?

  • @murthy7801 It's more likely for it to not have an issue than have an issue, and like the other guy said, if there was an issue at least it would be cheaper

  • I'd never walk on a sandy bridge

  • "are effected by abit of an issue" i'd say that's a fairly large issue. but well played on the euphemism tip for your dull audience. there's big money in this guys future as the PR for industry giants. you may not have a big set of tits to soften the blow of bas news like esther but you got the gift of the spin. well played shillinus. well played.

    The federal government is ketchinup.

  • I got a fix for it.. Take your hardware out of your board, Walk 15 steps to trash and throw that shit away!

  • What i find awesome, my online retailer, Pccasegear, an aussie retailer is still selling them! They are pretty much an aussie newegg. Of course they have disclaimers but guess what! You can buy one, and even in april when the new boards come out, these guys will replace it, for free! Only need to Send it. I love Australians!

  • thumbs up if you thought this was an "import2race" video

  • Luv ur channel!

  • someone needs sum pussy

  • @RastaManVIBRATIONJah Haha. That made my day:P

  • When the new Intel CPUs' came out, I thought: "AMD is done!"

But now with the problematic motherboards, AMD has the chance to bring out the 32nm CPUs' before April when Intel will fix the motherboards!

  • Meh, I'm not planning on getting a new system till mid 2011 anyway lol. I really want an MSI GT780! :D

  • they recalled all of these from like every store since this. what a shame

  • can i have one of your video cards?

  • Thanks

  • f***k that Im buying a bulldozer board a.k.a am3+ :)

  • @Thet3 Yer that might have issue with it for all you know

  • @murphy7801 atleast my issues will come cheaper!!

  • @linustechtips Hey Linus, when these "new" motherboards come out will it be like a whole new line/release OR more of a "P8P67 Deluxe 'V2' "? I'm feeling a little confused at the moment.

  • so how fast will the damage start?

  • AMD won't kill your system!

  • damn i have your exact motherboard and its also bugges(grrrrr)

  • does the boards that run of the nvidia chipset being recalled as well?

As well im going to run my dvd drive of my ide port.......

  • does the boards that run of the nvidia chipset being recalled as well?

  • nVidia is laughing at intel now...

  • Brought a p67 Deluxe board from Asus and still really happy I did regardless of this issue. Intel said it could be years before these issues come into effect so I am not concerned. Better then waiting 6 months for the same tech to be re-released.

  • i lulz at "hubub"

  • He hasn't put out a new video this week other than this one.

  • This is why you wait for these to happen first.

  • Watch 6 months later people find out that their sandy bridge cpu's are failing. LOL!!!! What a disaster Intel. I would go AMD so fast If I had bought in to this bullshit. *strokes his x58 machine*

  • Yes, sounds fine, but what will happen if u need to use these ports ??? For example i running S58A-UD3R with 10 SATA ports inside and 2 ESATA ports and all of them are populated... I have 12 HDD and one DVD so i need lots of ports... I dont think about changing platform soon and hope it will be fine because i didnt heard of any issues with it :)

  • @DedoPOP lol dude what the? why do you have 12 hdds?

  • @squiddy102 I have more, but i use them as backup copy of information and left them on the shelf... I download lots of stuff and hate to delete so i buy new HDD time to time and sell smallest one i have or put it as a backup drive... I decided smallest HDD i have to be at least 1 TB so i sold all smallest than 1 TB and now have couple 1TB, couple 1.5TB and couple 2TB HDD's :) Now i Consider of bying more 2TB Seagate 5900RPM because they are cheap and ideal for storage :)

  • i like how everyone was saying sandybridge was gonna be the best and would destroy everything else, looks like its just destroying itsself

  • X58 ftw :)

  • @RyanK733 HELL YEA! x58 owns the shit out of Sandy Bitch.

  • I'm happy with my i7 920 :)

    Why upgrading what ain't broken..

  • I saw that the new mobos will be Z68. To be honest, i don't know what to do now. I really wanted to buy a new PC but since there are only problems, i guess i'll stick to my old E8400 and the 9800 GT. I'm so disappointed.
