@uncommoncarp Because they don't need it, DVD optical drives don't even have full support for SATA I, and SATA I can be plugged into a SATA II or SATA III without a problem.
@shyboy2cute Thats because it's SATA II, SATA III is rapidly becoming the standard for high end storage, so WEI now looks for the major performance. For example, my 1TB SATA II drive only reads and writes around 70MB/s while my SATA III 2TB drive reads and writes around 190MB/s. Granted the higher data density means faster speeds, it still shows the doubling in performance, which is white the SATA II SSD is only a 5.9
@oTurtlezx dude that doesnt make sense..... i got a SATAII SSD and still have 5.9 WEI score when in fact it has been known among many users that it should have a score of 7.3 or so... but this bug is common so thats why i asked if it really is my mobo SATA connection being degraded while all firmware updates are accounted for all my drives.
@oTurtlezx Hard drives are not currently fast enough to saturate the sata II interface, so any speed increase that you're seeing is the drive itself being faster, not the interface. If you plugged your Sata III drive into a sata II plug, you'd get the same speeds.
@v12mini The flash cache present on the HDD can still benefit from the faster interface. I can unsure you. A WD Caviar Black(Performance series) 1TB 7200RPM 64MB cache SATA II was slower than a WD Caviar Blue("normal" series) 1TB 7200RPM 32MB cache SATA III, tested myself. Not a huge diference, but still present.
@v12mini I just answered to what he asked. I actualy have a Z68. P67 and H67 are starting to fade out. Asus doesn't produce many P67 based boards anymore, for example.
@skronybonnie It makes literally everything faster. Don't trash it till you try it, and $80 is relatively cheap compared to what it's been in past years.
@schredder12 you like trolling just for fun or are just just a faggot? I didnt see him touch a single contact at ALL. you sir need to shut your stupid little mouth because the onlything he touched was the sata ports...and no he didnt rum his gruby little finders all over it....
@schredder12 ohh im sorry is that this video? cause i could have sworn its not..and I have seen it...he touches the bottom of the modules which has no ill effects since the bottom doesnt conduct. in additions....who fucking cares he can do what he wants with hardware. obviously your just here to troll for no reason at all. this guy probably knows more about pc's than you wil ever know in your lifetime
@johnjiaojhu well if you care i was looking at a pre-built computer build that you can buy and the offer i was looking at just upgraded the motherboard from some standard one from this high end one and then i was this and thought they were trying to get rid of the defective p67's
hey guys well i have a notebook and its one of the faulty one's. its a customized notebook hp dv6 quad edition. any ways i called HP because i got an e mail saying i can return it and they can fix the problem, but my question is what exactly will they do? and what if i just leave it like this? i wont be using my SATA/USB port that much only to charge mi ipod. but im scared i dont want my mother board to fry, or my processor or what not. should i send it to get it fixed?
You may also want to mention, as an option for users needing 3 or more ports, getting a pci-e sata plug box. This totally bypasses use of the sata II chipset.
As well, when boards are available they can be replaced last I heard from the manufacturers or the store you purchased from.
So I was just looking at the Sabertooth P67 board which is compatible with the standard i5/i7 sandy bridge CPUs...anyone know if those are also affected by this issue?
Question: 6GB/s is better than 3GB/s right? So why would I use those ''faulty'' Sata2 slots anyway when I can plug my harddrive and ssd in Sata3 slots? So if I'm right I really don't see what the problem is, since I never had more then 3 devices connected to my Sata slots.
Intel is loosing much respect here due to this ridiculous launch and subsequent recall that could have been easily avoided with better quality testing prior to release . . . .
Good Job Intel. At least Gigabyte has launched new versions and offers replacements for buyers of the previous versions. I dont know about the other brands
you still get data loss on the sata 3 ports i dont care what intel says about it got my board and had prob right out of the box with the sata 2 ports and then switched to the sata 3 and stil have a good data loss on it as well so if you have one and can return it id do so they failed on this one big time
sigh was really looking forward to building a new system. is it advisable to wait or just buy a P67 board right now? I will only be using an optical DVD drive for the SATA 2.0 (which will be hardly even used although plugged in all the time) and have 2 harddrives (one SSD other SATA) connected to SATA 3.0.
This event shows what a lame ass company rules the chipset and the cpu market....
Ripping off billions from it's clients and doesn't afford Quality Assurance team!
This is very very lame problem and if tested right it shouldn't have hit the market!
If that was your company guys you would be ruined but not intel that are the Google of the hardware meant to be dominant for life and they rule on you people!!!
Is this an international issue or is this North America only? I was checking the Asus site and it has the mobos listed under "Affected Product(s) in US & Canada", am I to take that us Europeans are not affected?
So is it perfectly fine using the 6GB/s ports? I want to buy a P67 chipset but don't want to wait another 2 months to buy one. I will only be using 1 HDD and 1 Disk Drive so if I plugged them into the Sata 6GB/s ports would it be perfectly fine???
@gmodertom Yes. SATA III ports are unaffected by this fault and are completely backwards compatible with SATA II devices. The problem you may have though is trying to find anyone who will actually ship you a Sandy Bridge mobo right now. I am in a similar situation to you as I want to build an awesome new gaming PC based on Sandy Bridge, but may now have to base it on the older X58 chipset and an LGA1366 CPU.
@hedgehog1965uk Thats Awesome thanks for the Help :) Ive found a few retailers still selling them, you should be able to find one somewhere. Apparently intel are willing to replace any H67 or P67 mobo when they release the new batch with the fixed hardware in a few months time plus you will get at least a years warranty if it does go wrong so it doesn't seem that big of an issue to me.
I was planning on buying this with the same motherboard, Cant I just always use the SATA 3 Ports and have no issues? I'm only going to need the 4 ports and SATA 3 is faster anyways... I dont need to replace it if I am only using that?
@murthy7801 It's more likely for it to not have an issue than have an issue, and like the other guy said, if there was an issue at least it would be cheaper

What i find awesome, my online retailer, Pccasegear, an aussie retailer is still selling them! They are pretty much an aussie newegg. Of course they have disclaimers but guess what! You can buy one, and even in april when the new boards come out, these guys will replace it, for free! Only need to Send it. I love Australians!
Intel, no long time ago we have bought 1156 and 1366 MOBOs and CPUs, and u come up with your new 1155!... what should we do?... to buy new products again? well Intel... accept your punishment now!...Greedy.
Intel, no long time ago we have bought 1156 and 1366 MOBOs and CPUs, and u come up with your new 1155!... what should we do?... to buy new products again? well Intel... accept your punishment now!... So Greedy
@linustechtips Hey Linus, when these "new" motherboards come out will it be like a whole new line/release OR more of a "P8P67 Deluxe 'V2' "? I'm feeling a little confused at the moment.
Brought a p67 Deluxe board from Asus and still really happy I did regardless of this issue. Intel said it could be years before these issues come into effect so I am not concerned. Better then waiting 6 months for the same tech to be re-released.
Watch 6 months later people find out that their sandy bridge cpu's are failing. LOL!!!! What a disaster Intel. I would go AMD so fast If I had bought in to this bullshit. *strokes his x58 machine*
Yes, sounds fine, but what will happen if u need to use these ports ??? For example i running S58A-UD3R with 10 SATA ports inside and 2 ESATA ports and all of them are populated... I have 12 HDD and one DVD so i need lots of ports... I dont think about changing platform soon and hope it will be fine because i didnt heard of any issues with it :)
@squiddy102 I have more, but i use them as backup copy of information and left them on the shelf... I download lots of stuff and hate to delete so i buy new HDD time to time and sell smallest one i have or put it as a backup drive... I decided smallest HDD i have to be at least 1 TB so i sold all smallest than 1 TB and now have couple 1TB, couple 1.5TB and couple 2TB HDD's :) Now i Consider of bying more 2TB Seagate 5900RPM because they are cheap and ideal for storage :)
I saw that the new mobos will be Z68. To be honest, i don't know what to do now. I really wanted to buy a new PC but since there are only problems, i guess i'll stick to my old E8400 and the 9800 GT. I'm so disappointed.
wait this is only the p67 right not the p67A ?

@linustechtips Hey Linus, when these "new" motherboards come out will it be like a whole new line/release OR more of a "P8P67 Deluxe 'V2' "? I'm feeling a little confused at the moment.

nVidia is laughing at intel now...

Brought a p67 Deluxe board from Asus and still really happy I did regardless of this issue. Intel said it could be years before these issues come into effect so I am not concerned. Better then waiting 6 months for the same tech to be re-released.

This is why you wait for these to happen first.

DedoPOP 1 year ago
@DedoPOP lol dude what the? why do you have 12 hdds?
squiddy102 1 year ago
