@Thushuu She did die. In the beginning of the game, you are just a statue in memory of Shiranui. Sakuya, the tree sprite uses whats left of her dieing power to bring you back to life (reincarnated). You are the same goddess/ wolf, only difference is the present you is a reincarnation. The characters (human ones at least) dont recognize you either, since they saw Shiranui die fighting Orochi. They dont think youre the same wolf after 100 years either

@BubblesTheKittyCat Well actually, how it does is, Shiranui (Which is really just Amaterasu from 100+) went to the future to help her future, weaker self during the battle with Nechku and when Oki was in trouble and was about to be killed, Past Amaterasu took the blow and you see the little cane think Lechku uses, actually stab her THROUGH her body. The fact that she survived for a good hour or so and went back to her own time to save Nagi just before he was killed is pretty impressive.

I think the strange feeling that this track gives us all is awe. It's a mix between fear and reverence. Shiranui was presented as such an elusive, god-like figure, and the legacy Shiranui had only made him/her more awe-inspiring.

i know a way ( I think ) that shiranui can stay alive longer. Orochi almost kills her, she goes back into the spirit gate as fast as she can, gets killed by lechku and nechku, go back into the spirit gate, and keep repeating that!

You might have already found help with this, but the solution is to use veil of mist (slow time) on the final cannon before power-slashing it's cannonball back at it. This destroys the cannon and breaks the seal behind it. Hope you haven't given up on okami, your just getting to the best parts!

For reasons unknown, the wolf has mainly been portrayed as a villain and a monster.

Today the wolf is ruthlessly hunted by United States politicians like Sarah Palin, and likely because of how evil the wolf is made out to be.

But the wolf is a magnificent animal; it should be protected and portrayed as the good being it truly is.

Okami and the Shinto religion have done just that.

Like this if you too believe there must be more good wolves like the great Amaterasu. Thank you.

@BoltroBankai Actually, there was a decent amount of "good" wolves in fairy tales. And other times, the "bad" wolf was just being used to symbolize something else in the fairy tale-- greed, arrogance, etc. To be honest, I've had more articles than I can count being shoved in my face that scream, "THE WOLF IS NOT EVIL!" The animal is not really misunderstood anymore. I wouldn't say they're good; just a clever wild animal. They take care of themselves well.
