  • WOW!!! I saw this movie when I was a kid and enjoyed it. But I could never think of the name of it. All I remember was it was a Canadian film. The black leather jacket and the phrase "ask me no questions and I will tell you no lies" and it dealt with stamps. And for some reason that came to my head today and I did a broad search on a popular search engine just on those parameters and viola!!! Now i can bring back memories of when I was a kid in the 1980's!!!

  • I have the first movie on dvd, but i still cannot find the return of tommy tricker.

  • actualy he was 14

  • Haha, I wonder if Rufus is ashamed of this.

  • This is YOUR movie?!?!?! This movie is AMAZING!! Thank you so much for it! I am 25 years old and I still love it, as does my 24 year old sister. We still watch it to this day. I love both Tommy Tricker movies, and they sparked my love of the world and traveling. Thank you again!

  • Great movie I saw it in 1989 when I was 5 on TV and I still watch it today in 2011 they don't make movies like that anymore like Lucus and the Goonies and Are u afraid of the dark TV show on snick back in the 90's but 80's movies are the best of all time!!!

  • Tommy Tricker and the Stamp Traveller is your movie? I ran across it on TV while flipping through the channels, and couldn't stop watching! It's a wonderful movie!

  • @MikeRubbo hey Mike! any chance i could also get a copy of "Tommy Come Back"? i've been scouring the internet for decades and couldn't find it anywhere! i used to play it over and over again til i lost the tape (in the days before CDs) during a family vacation hahaha love the film by the way, i've watched it soooo many times that i could recite the dialogue from start to finish from memory

  • absolutley love this movie remember watching it at primary school and that was nearly 20 yrs ago..very hard to find on dvd these days but im still searching for copy :-) ..

  • wow so many memory ! thanks ! he should sing that song at some show ...

  • Just wanna chip in that your movie was seen by pretty much anyone of my generation (current 25-ers) in Quebec... what a classic!

That, and realising just now that this guy was young Rufus Wainwright just blew my mind! Awesome!

I just randomly thought of that scene/song (don't know why!) and wondered if it was on YouTube...

  • he was so cute when he was young! Well, he still is!

  • he sounds like miley cyrus

  • absolute cracker of a movie, brings back so many memories of awesome 80s flicks!!

  • This is one of my all-time favorite movies - it actually got my sisters and me to start collecting stamps. I am now a 31-year-old mum who still quotes lines from this film with my sisters and friends ("Hello, hello, hello" "What'cha got there Sid?" "Ah! It's a secret!"), and certainly plan to pass on the magic to the next generation. It also started a 20-year love of Rufus Wainwright. :)

  • The Tommy Tricker movies are still two of my favorites and I am a Mom myself now!!! And thanks for featuring Rufus Wainwright in the film - it has started a life-long obsession with his music.

  • @pineapplelesson Thanks for your nice comments, Very much appreciated. Mike /Rubbo director writer.

  • @pineapplelesson Theres two movies ????? What. explain?

  • but he must have been older than 12 (born in 1973 and this movie is from 1988)

  • What a great song and great movie!

Im 26 and Tommy Tricker is still one of my favourites!

My brother, sister and I used to watch it at least once a week when we were growing up.

There was another La Fete movie that we loved, 'Tadpole and the Whale.' Ohh the memories!

    Thanks Mike!

  • i love this clip!

tommy tricker was (and still is) one of my favourite movies of all time (im now 26 years old!)

my brother, sister and i used to watch it at least once a week (if not more) and knew nearly all of the words!

we also loved other La Fete movies. I think there was one called Tadpole and the Whale that we LOVED!

Great movie Mike! and Rufus is just a genius!

  • What a great movie we need more movies like this. I have this movie and the Return of Tommy Tricker on VHS.

  • I'm curious. How is this your movie? Not too sound rude or anything, but I mean, were you the wrtier, Producer or Director? I loved this movie when I was a kid. Yhis is what introduced me to stamp collecting!I also dig the music, the adventure & it showed me different parts of the world as well.

  • If you put the kids on the telly young does that pretty them up. Observing a statistic changes a statistic.

  • REACT

    Pen is position opinion (RANK)

  • haha i havent seen this in years but it just popped into my head so i had to see if this song was on here thanx for the upload!

  • You can totally hear his Rufus voice when he says "nahhh" at 0:28. I LOVE IT! I LOVE HIM!!!!! He's soo cute! Thanks for posting!!! : )

  • This was an excellent movie - very original, and great for the family. Glad this was a Canadian movie. I got the novel when I was young.

  • It's like Rufus' voice now, but sped up!

  • Rufus was great even as a kid! I hope I don't get attacked for saying this, but he sounds a little like Miley Cyrus here! (ducks under chair)

  • @sign543 almost !! haha

  • Love Your Movie! Watched it hundreds of times growing up. This is my favorite song from the movie. Brilliant! <33

Ps. Can You Tell Me The Secrets Of Stamp Traveling? ;3

  • I'm not allowed to tell, Pinkie. And even if I was allowed , I lost that stamp travel magic See, I'd put it in small box and then the box got separated when my bike rolled down an embankment, and was swept into a swollen river. I last saw the box which was dark red, bobbing away towards the rapids, soon to swallow my bike and me,

A small animal, perhaps a field mouse, was using the box as a life raft and squealing for help. Not a moment to worry about losing secrets. Mike

  • @MikeRubbo you have a wonderful imajonation, a gift for story writing :)

  • Wow! I'm a big Rufus fan, this is so very cool! :-)

  • I love this tune also does anyone notice Alberts face at 2:17 when he says "that was different" he looks so green from falling down those steps LoL.=)

    great movie.

  • I hope Mr. Rubbo that u understand my point ; this movie is positive, full of joy and, like i wrote earlier, very educative and can surely open the minds of the young ones. Its like a perfect mix of good entertainment and educative things......5 stars Mr. Rubbo, from a real fan......

  • I completely agree with you, but you keep saying "listening to a movie"

    lol :)

I ve seen this movie over and over again when i was little, but our cleaning lady accidnetly taped something else over it :(

  • If i was u Mr. Rubbo, i would talk to Mr. Demers about putting the entire version of the tommy tricker and the stamp traveller online. Every parents should discover this movie and pass it to their kids. Im pretty sure it would make a good publicity for it too. Its not the kind of movie u only listen to one time and get bored... kids listen to it over and over again so they'll go buy a copy or even the entire collection of Les Contes pour tous....

  • Dear Mr. Mike Rubbo, yesterday i red alot of things bout your life and Rock Demer's one, u 2 r amazing human beings. Great examples for everyone. U guyz r not thinking only bout tha damn money and r trying i think to make this world a better place..........

  • This movie is clearly a piece of art ; best movie i listened to was i was a little boy. This film, which takes place here in Quebec, really makes a kid want to discover our world. Every kids who speaks english, french or spanish should b forced to listen to it, no joke. U cant compare this movie to the crappy nonsens kid movies of these days.

I even think I still have a puzzle of the stamp travelers, but i'm not sure if it's from the first one or the second... I feel old...

  • Hi eduuard, it;s great to hear this from a fan to me, the guy who wrote and directed Tommy Tricker and the Stamp Traveler. That was the English name of th movie. it was originally done in English

The French version was dubbed by Andre Melancon who did a great job of using authentic Quebec accents and not those more "fench" Thanks for you commetn. Mike Rubbo

  • Wow, you directed this? Awesome. As Rufus' biggest fan, this is a treasure to see. :)Thanks for posting it. :)

  • When I watched this as a child I remember being struck by how great his voice is. Also I kind of had a crush on him but thought he looked feminine. I guess things turn out they way they're meant to!

  • he still makes the same facial expressions, lol. that was so cute it was almost painful.

  • A nice movie for kids and adults. Also check out the Return of Tommy Tricker movie

  • When was the retuen of Tommy Tricker made? I don't remember hearing of that one. :)

  • 1994 It is on VHS only I think google it..

  • This video just made my day! Thank you for posting :)

  • on the subject of rufus wainwright's age, wikipedia gives his birthdate as 22 July, 1973.

I loved the film, & the song particularly, thank-you for posting it!

I remember there was a T.T. sequel too, & demers did a loose series of kid's films set at least partly in the montreal area.

I'd also be fascinated to hear more about the one man band thing...

& finally; olive seems cool :)

  • According to the end credits his sister sings the end title at the end. "Tommy come back" or something like that. Rufus is so cute in this movie, too bad he only has a small cameo! Loved this movie and my copy is getting pretty worn out. I would love to get this movie on DVD. I wish they would of released a soundtrack to the movie. His sister is also

  • Hi Litlebit, You should get in touch with the producer, Rock Demers in Montreal. His company is called productions La Fete. he should be able to answer your questions. Yes, I'm sad too that Rufus has just a small role. Silly me for not writing him a bigger one, eh? Mike the writer director

  • lol they cut it off just before the one-man-band song started...lol.

rufus is amazing, and my entire family knows and sings this song on a regular basis.

  • Hi Fiona, I cut it off before the one man band because that leads into something else and I would have had to explain who he was. In fact he's still going and recently been in touch. And so when I get th Canadian cast search going, which will be soon, there will be a reason to include him you want. Mike, who directed th film and made the cut.

  • Härligt!!! Underbart!!! Rufus!!!
