  • thanks for posting this vid

  • speaking of strang patterns, check out my video. theres a very peculiar gelogical phenomenon which resembles finger prints and does not appear to conform to the landscape. theres a link to the original photo as well. watch?v=Q_HjTO6QcBc

  • I know robot's don't have hearts but I feel really sorry for Spirit :( I can't imagine being stuck on Mars with No one there with you.. yeesh! Hope she gets out of that situation haha.. the thought of being out there all alone.. ahem sorry lol

  • Merci infiniment pour vos importantes contributions à une meilleur connaissance de Mars... Thank you so much..

  • This channel is really my taste.Keep the good work, congratulations.

  • Excellent. Thanks.

  • I hope in my life time we will set foot on mars.

    Great video!

  • I love this channel!

  • I love the visualisations like this one. It is like watching the Arthur Clarke's book about Mars again (author was using Vista program), but this time with movies instead of images.

  • Another good one.

  • Awesome images and information.

  • I want to do this for my career. Is this work considered Planetary Geology or Areology? I would assume first I need Geology & all other fields needed to know Earth first right? Once I am done with all of the Earth studies how would I go from that, to doing what is presented above ..studying Mars? Is such a career exclusive to NASA? It is just so amazing how we are able to predict the weather on other worlds. This is a amazing video! I hope someone can clear this up & explain it for me.Thanks

  • You should go study Geology, Physics and maybe Maths...

In England, we have these courses called A-Levels, which if you enroll to soon enough you can pursue at a qualification after 1 or 2 years. I'm not sure how it works in America, though...

  • 1 of 2 from Nathan Bridges, Research Scientist: We use the umbrella term Planetary Geology. I think the general term is appropriate, as somewhat similar processes operate on different worlds, albeit under different temps, pressure, & chemical conditions. In fact, because Earth is a planet, I think just using the term geology is appropriate for studying extraterrestrial locations, especially given that we can almost do real field work with our rovers & high resolution orbiting cameras.

  • 2: If interested in planetary geology, I recommend you start w/ our home planet, Earth. With a solid background in earth sciences you can apply the knowledge to other places. People also come to the field w/ backgrounds in physics, chem & other disciplines. Getting a BS in terrestrial geology/related field is 1st step, then a grad degree w/ greater focus on planetary geology. The career isn't exclusive to NASA. Planetary geologists work at USGS, universities, & private research institutions.

  • Thank you so much for your replies! I definitely feel more confident about this career path now. I am excited to finally have clear directions and to hear from experts that are actually in the field. It is amazing how you found the time to reply to my questions in such detail and I can not thank you both enough! :)

  • Awesome video!
