Was in a rehearsal studio in NYC. Was waiting for musicians. This bald guy was looking at my "bass day" shirt I was wearing. Later I said to myself that's David Fiuczynski! Was confirm by the rehearsal studio folks. Small city that NYC is.
I'VE HEARD AT LEAST 4 DIFFERENT VERSIONS OF THiS SONG, AND THE SOLOS ARE ALL COMPELLING IN DIFFERENT WAYS. Hiromi does not fail to deliver. Oh my God. What an imaginative and compelling mind.
i think FUZE is a teacher in berklee... so he can play straight jazz... with no effects... you can't be a faculty member of that school if you're just an average jazz player... this guy is a heck of a player... one of my idols...
@javaramp hmm that was planned. Why? 4 people can't 'fail' at the same time. If you're looking for glitches, you missed it by a second: check the guitarist in 1:39 instead :-) ok, switch off tech mode now and just enjoy!
You can't substitute a note with a pedal unless the pedal a sampler. The signal path starts at your fingers. If there is no signal leaving the guitar, there's nothing for the effect to shape/manipulate. What people are suggesting is that I could just plug in my rig and it will make music. You need a signal, it can't process something that's not there. My philosophy on effects is less is more. A tastefully used effect at the appropriate time is gold. PINK FLOYD epitomizes this.
I like whole band. The guitarist play very simple, but I like his feeling in this particular style, which is simple grooving. I don't like stop moment ;) Hiromi is goooood.
Gah it's just my opinion but this guitarist is abusing the wah pedal. He's not playing anything impressive at all. There's no soul or anything is his playing, he just seems to be there to look pretentious.
you must be a clown for saying that son. that's the legendary David Fiuczynski you're talking about. a fucking guitar legend to say the least. just because he's got a minimal approach here doesn't mean there's 'no soul' to it. look him up, then talk shit.
@LfunkeyA I'm not talking about his entire playing career I'm just talking about this video. There's nothing wrong with a minimalist approach to playing guitar. My problem is when someone is using pedals to substitute actually playing notes.
@Xitlalic I'm not a "purist", I'm open to all sorts of styles. I use pedals when it's appropriate, but everything needs moderation. I was slightly over exaggerating when I said he was substituting the notes with the wah pedal, but I still stand by what I said. He's soloing with a lot of empty noise, but again it's my opinion. If you enjoy it by all means enjoy it.
to the dudes not followin what the guitarist is up to - check out screaming headless torsos. Or whatever other project he is currently involved in. You guys are just sadly undereducated^^
@brunoguitar88 Frank Gambale? Hutchings is a great choice, but Id liek to se Greg Howe, Hiromi, Chambers, Sakurai make an album...that would be insane.
holy fucking shiiiit!!!! this is soooooooooooooo awesome! this band have a gift!! DAMN!!!!!

he's not substituting anything, he's playing notes and using effects. also, the purist anti-effects mentality is getting old.
